This Netbook was late 2007. I recent bought it for 129.99 free shipping 8 gb solid state drive, 1 gb ram, 8.9 inch display, with a 4 cell battery not bad at all. Though it run window xp. I can upgrade it for window 7.

i am using this bad girl right know. running linux with 1 gig ram and 4 gig drive. fast little thing. when my macs where stolen i was crushed but this little cuty is a lot of fun to use and is fast too. even my 4 year old loves it. when the battery dies he says the baby went to sleep and tucks it away under my blankets. never got that kind of stuff with my old macs, just insane speeds but not those kind of moments. not to mention it is portable as hell. we even take it to the park for lunch.

wanted to say 3 things:

1. the 900mhz rhymes with its name 900! lol!

2. Asus should have put the atom z500 for excellent battery life and almost same processing power

3. Smart Trick : If in Smartpad Drivers you can use keyboard shortcuts then set swipe left for "alt+(left arrow key)" and swipe right for "alt+(right arrow key)"

then you will get internet back and forward!!

Yes you can connect all kinds of things to it IE printer, thunbdrive, ext monitor. BUT caution the model I have has a SS Drvie in it that is only 4gigs that is why I chose to put Linux on it instad of windows. Althogh you do have the option of dual boot. I also recommend you get a cd player for it just incase you have to fdisk.

bro before you get this you should know stuff about it. The Asus eee pc 900 comes in 8 gigssd(solid state drive) or 16 gig ssd. That is not enought space to do anything on at all. For 80 US dollars more making for 189.42 british pounds you get all that plus a 160 gig hard drive disk that can be removed and replaced with a larger hard drive. it is called the Asus Eee Pc 900HA (the HA makes a huge difference)

Hi,

I installed eeectl yesterday.

I first used the tray to change screen definition and it was OK.

I then wanted to test the backlight function but got confused and set the processor clock to "full".

After a few seconds my computer stopped and I can't restart it anymore.

Everytime I get a blue screen at the beginning (XP starts for 1 sec and then crashes).

No matter I try to restart XP in safe mode or not, it always crashes.

No way to boot from the SSD.

What should I do?

having 1 16gb drive is worst. but having a 20gb isnt that much better. in the 20gb its a 4gb onboard memory and the 16gb ssd as a sperate drive. The os would go on the Solid state memory bujilt onto the motherboard.

The eeepc 701 4g with cam I own has a 5400 battery? I thought they came with a 4400 NOT Complaining cause I love the 4-5 sometimes 6hrs of life. Charging it takes 5+ hours with puter running tho.. Kinda odd for what I paid for it new under 250.

YES TO ALL Your Questions.. About WINxP You dont need a usb cdrom to install xp. It can be installed from a SD CARD "Slower" but still installs. Once installed, you get your speed back :) Once in XP you can go back to Linux the same way cdrom or SD card install. VERY FAST 5mins and its running X-linux-OS. I use XP with no Page Filing, and have Linux Puppeee installed on SD which it can boot up just from SD and run on SD only. SD Install info can be found online "GOOGLE IT"

I was so impressed that just a few days ago I bought the 900 with what is a larger but slower memory card but I knew that going in. For my business uses it is wonderful and for my personal use it has become my "morning paper". I have a desktop PC with XP Professional, Laptop with Vista and this little guy with Linux--I love this thing it is GREAT!

You need a CDROM or a virtual CD drive (magic disc is free for windows) to mount the disc image and install it, then a 'no cd' patch so you can play the game without the disc.
