Guys I don't know what happened to the videos, if you pause the video and right click on it you can report that it is playing to fast, if enough people do a report maybe youtube will fix it.
@6d4vdub i did 2 weeks ago already , see my previous comment that sais " OK ILL REPORT " well thats when i did it and no the video still wont work for me :-(
I am in the process of building my first T1 and I will be rebuilding my TIV in the Winter. I love seeing each builders techniques and you have done a great job with these videos. The one thing that I will take away from this is the crank mount idea with an old gland nut. Thanks again and what a great contribution to this lifestyle of ours.
what a music man! what a video!! I`m from uruguay and I have a vw 79 1600cc, I have 23 years an it`s my second car, my first car was a fiat 600 with a 850cc engine, and I have to tell you that I feel the diference jaja, you are a genious for doing this! take care of yourself abraso grande y suerte con ese motor
Please ignore all the stupid comments posted in your videos. You have done a HUGE service to all of us VW fans and we are in debt to you. Keep up the great work and always remember that if nothing else you have a HUGE fanbase in Pakistan now. (On behalf of the VW Club Of Pakistan)
very very very very good videos, quick question, this should be very simular if it is a 2.0L bus en gine and i didnt quite get what you said the 60/40 mix of oil and stp you use to lubricate with the brush?
Back in the early 60s I use to work for an authorized Ford engine rebuilder and they had problems with cam lobes wiping cylinder scuffing. Ford told them to start mixing STP with oil and to coat all the parts during assembly, it cured all their problems. I have been using it ever since. Mix 60% STP with 40% oil and coat all moving parts during assembly. Use straight STP on the cam lobes. Yes, there is other stuff on the market today and some pack lube with new cams but STP works fine.
I wish i had this man to teach me when i was younger,,forty years before the internet,,heheheh.
Old school,,and fantastic for it man.
I am not that much younger than him really,,but i look upto him,and have a real respect for what he knows,,too many people these days, young and old talk a good job,,but cant put a screw in without breaking the scredriver man, heheheh,,good man,,honest too.
I am an expert on these old lumps,,so trust me please,,he knows what he is doing,,old school,,but,,before you put any bearings on the crank,,place them in the lower case half first and gently,,very gently mark them with a felt tip pen along the case joint line,,this way, when you come to drop in the crank your not turning them round and round for ages trying to find the dowles,,just find the marker pen lines,,easy,,but he is magic to see man,,another good thing,,he wipes his hands all the time.

put everything down and grab your nuts real hard to stop the shakyness problem

I didn't say it, he asked me to write it!!!
Maybe that's preventive maintenance!! he says. He's just joking and its funny but I
already told him you probably know that.
He's a Bug Nut also and says thanks for your work in postin' these instructional, and informative videos. Without guidance from elders the Young Ones wont know the way!!!
scoring of the bearings is more of a problem on the inside of the bearing rather than the outside (where bearing meets case). Doing it the way he has should be no problem unless there is no lubricant between the crank and the inside of the bearings. (he did lube in vid 3)
Wow! that guy is fast.Looks like he can rebuild a motor in about 10 minutes!

What are you using to lube the cam lobes and crank gear?
BTW, Thanks for posting this very awesome series of videos!
