  • the student's position looks awkward.. (idk if it's because i know absolutely nothing about ballet).

  • I would love to start ballet! But at the place where I want to start you can only wear a leotard and tights, with no skirt..I have huge insecurities with my bodie because I do have quite large hips and broad shoulders ect :(

  • She looks uncomfortable....

  • my ballet school is navy leotard pink tights pink pointe shoes that ever soft shoes we want and you can wear whatever colour leotaard you want wen ur in grade 6 and up x

  • most ballet schools are different. Also can depend what grade you are in and which grading system you use. my School in advanced 1 requires us to wear black halter leotard, pink tights or black footless tights, pink pointe shoes or split sole pink canvas shoes, black knee length wrap around skirt and a tight bun but a lot of the younger girls wear anything they want to.

  • what about the boys?

  • @BAMBI243 Shorts and white t-shirt for little boys and tights/dance belt/t-shirt for older boys are pretty standard. Slippers can be black or white. If socks are worn, they should match the slippers.

  • what about the boys?

  • you might not like the sound of this but your not really supposed to wear anything under your tights.

because if you do then you will be able to see them.

  • stop making jokes about it. i mean look at what swimmers wear speedo's

and all of those basket ball players wearing over grown shorts and sweatbands

and that bun is not bad, its just that ballerinas don't want to look lazy, stinky, and plan old cheap.

  • Dear girls,

If I wear Leotard, do I have to put on inner clothings, such as bra and underwear?

THANK YOU IN ADAVNCE for your answer!!! :)

  • @applesweeter I think it just depends on how comfortable you wanna be. I choose not to wear undergarmets when I do my ballet because it can cause some chaffing and I find myself tugging up my bra. But like I said , it all depends on you.

  • @foreversinging91

me too. I want my body and legs to move more freely.

Just one more question. How can I waer ballet clothings when I am in period?

  • @applesweeter First make sure you stretch yourself well in order to relax your back muscles and the area where you usually feel period pains. I went to one of my dance classes on the day I started my period and I felt like someone was punching me in my abdominal area and lower back. I would recommend taking midol if you are going to dance after you have started. If you are required to still wear a skirt for ballet classes, you can buy what are called "hot pants" and wear it under the skirt.

  • @foreversinging91

Most of the time, i will not wear a skirt. How can i wear a hot pant under.

  • @applesweeter Just wear a pair of workout shorts and you put the hot pants under them. Hot pants do not chaff like regular underwear, thats why dancers, cheerleaders and other types of performers wear them.

  • @foreversinging91

you mean that I put my workout pant under my ballet leggings?

  • @applesweeter Here is the order of clothing: underwear ( if you so choose), ballet tights, hot pants, then workout shorts.

  • @applesweeter I would recommend a sports bra and no underwear.

  • @justineclarissa

What is your reason? please explain.

  • @applesweeter it's just wayyy more comfortable. skip out on the bra if you can, too. it makes it easier to move.

  • @SwissXCake Oh haha thanks!

  • she looks so uncomfortable

  • I would love to be a ballet dancer.

  • Do you have to wear tights?,...not a big fan of tights haha

  • tie your skirt at the waist not the hips.

  • we can wear what ever at my dance studio... just as long as our hair isnt in our face

  • @missolivia19807 same.

  • i'd love to have you as teacher!

  • ours is just a mulberry leotard, mulberry band, pink ballet tights, pink canvas demi pointes and a bun. xxx

  • I Have A Navy Blue Leotard :D

  • Our code is: Black Leotard, pink tights, pink pointes w/ burnt ribbons, black silk skirt.

  • Love Your Leotard & Tights! They look Great On You! & Your Very Pretty Too!

  • im not so sure about the loetards at my studio because there were girls wearing purple, red, and even yellow!! but because i was a beginner student i was wearing black ,i wasn't the only one ( thnk god!!) But we have to wear pink tights and im pretty much an expert when it comes to making buns, pinning them, and putting hairntes over them! (y)

  • at my studio, they dont care much about the leo, we have to have pink tights! and we are allowed to wear skirts, but my class chose not to. & our hair has to be pulled back.

  • Her hands are to close together(the gap should be as wide as your head)also her thumbs should be tucked in.my teach goes crazy whenever we get the basics wrong

On another note-when i was little i wore a pink leotard & a pink skirt with white tights & white shoes. now i wear a black supportive leotard and black net skirt with pink ballet tights and pink split-sole ballet shoes

i don't have my hair in a bun unless i am performing. normally i have it in a high ponytail with hair off of my face

  • @allfunnyvideosrule All studios are different. Her hands are a fine distance and the thumbs are fine also. If you tuck it completely, I believe it is character. Just to add, when I was little, I wore purple, now I wear black. We aren't allowed to wear skirts (unless in character). Also, my dance studio requires a bun, as do most.

  • Are rules : Bangs back, shorts, form fitting top.

  • What of my hairs to short? :(

  • @Mergirl97 Slick your hair back and have it gelled. You want your hair pulled back as much as you can get it so your instructor can help you. It can be hard to tell if a shoulder is too high or getting dropped if hair is flying around and obstructing view. The uniform is all about letting your instructor focus on helping you improve.

  • for my ballet class we have to have a black leotard till we get new one for what level we are at we will have a diff color and we need pink tights and our hair has to be in a bun and we can wear black leg warmers in the winter if we get cold

  • The studio i go to, we have to wear a bun and pin our bangs (if you have short hair, use a jelly headband to pull back the hair.), black leotard, pink or black tights, shorts or skirt (short) and any kind of ballet shoe (Leg warmers are only used for demi/grand plie combination) :)

  • now that is just a horrible bun

  • @timeforsarah346 agreed

  • @timeforsarah346 IT'S JUST A DEMONSTRATION!!! It doesn't need to be PERFECT... I'm sorry i'm yelling at you and i'm 12...Who said it needed to be a perfect Ballet bun...At my Dance academy we usually Just Put our hair Up in either a ponytail or Half Ponytail...

  • Tights are surprising very comfortable as I had to wear some for a whole day due to a dare some girls threw at me,and of course the girls made me wear white tights and shorts with socks. They feel funny at first but then you kinda get used to em. I wear em during the winter now under my jeans or sometimes go with my GF to the park with black tights and shorts as she does. but she wears purple tights or a silver pair.

  • I would be tempted to rebel and wear crazy coloured tights and leotards lol

  • @thefabulousonebijou

LOL I probably would too. XD

  • @thefabulousonebijou my school lets us, but only on wednesdays haha

  • I think it's best just to wear a leotard. A skirt or even tights can disrupt the leg line.
