Another point about the lightning. Even if it was done more naturally, it feel terribly out of place. I assume there is some reason for it, but the fact that no one reacts to a giant lightning ball sitting in the middle of the room seems bizarre.

pretty interesting, but that lighting ball thing (whatever it is) stands out a lot in any shot its in. Considering the rest of the show seemed to be rather serious and drama centered, the peculiar special effect really stood out.

@TheEmperorGulcasa o.O I never really thought of that. However, the lightning changes twice in the film (which makes sense symbolically) and gets lighter/flarier because it represents death, which becomes a good thing in the end.

@TheEmperorGulcasa Yeah, I feel like the lightning effects need to be blurred to help it blend with the environment.

@TheEmperorGulcasa Also I feel like the lightning should light the objects around it.. as it is, it looks like a flat layer... which it is. Also, did you color correct this stuff?

@KlotzProductions Ya, the lightning is def the hardest effect to pull off. The lightning is in 3d and has a 3d light cast into the background, but it's not real. However, actual Tesla Coils do look pretty similar to that (e.g. the actual foreground lightning isn't blurry, despite moving so fast), so no matter what it'll look a little weird. Even The Prestige and The Sorcerer's Apprentice, which used real lightning from their coils in daylight, make the lightning look kinda weird.
