  • great talent .. very entertaining .. thanks

  • Patti thanks for posting this video. I wish I had saw it three days ago, before I finished transferring a large plant to Topsi Tervy pot that killed my large plant. Question: how do you do that 3D text effect in your closing credits? What's the program and feature? Thanks and check out my channel for some good recipes that use fresh veggies.

  • i started from seed and they lasted 3 weeks and drop dead.. an sugestions?

  • @ingesumadre Buy a 60watt compact flourescent bulb for 5 bucks and start them indoors under 18 hours .light per day for 3 weeks then transplant outdoors. Keep them in the shade for a day or two when first moved outdoors to harden them off.

  • Thanks! gonna plant some tomatoes tomorrow.

  • Nice to learn from you Patti, you have a really nice face to look at... :D

  • Very nice, I really like the idea of companion planting.

Do you use a trellis for keeping the trenched tomato plant upright?

  • I reaf that even if the plant isnt super tall to build a trench for it, but that seems to negate the deep hole for the plant. Which is better?

  • Wow! I never knew the "deep" planting method for them. Thanks! Keep the tips comin'!

  • You guys are an inspiration!!! Thanks for the great info!

  • I've never had a bug problem in my tomato area. I dunno whether my area is bug free naturally or if I'm just one lucky gardener. But then again my tomatoes grow like triffids and would probably beat the heck outa any bugs.

    Toe-may-toe gangz reprezentin!! :)

  • 12' awesome. You must have tall cages. Go girl.

  • I was taught to plant the tomato with a teaspoon of epsom salt. It's supposed to make the tomato taste sweeter. Have you heard of that? Is it an old wives tale?

  • @brenatens No- it's legit. Epsom salt also prevents the blossom end rot. Other good addition is liquid seaweed and compost tea.

  • I was planning on getting my tomatoes this weekend. Thanks.

  • closed captioning is so hilarious

  • Why is he yelling? Does he know he is mic'ed? lol

Speaking of - my Tomato plants get huge and need a lot of support, what is your solution - I'm currently using 4" square wire fencing in a cylinder - you don't have the room for that...what do you use? Or is there some sort of pruning technique?

My biggest problem is cracking, and splitting - even with almost daily watering. I use Tomato Fert (Miracle Blow) and container grow in 2.5' planters with excellent drainage. Suggestions?

  • @Patti I live in the Tampa Bay area. I broke ground on a new garden this year 50x 25ft. The soil is mostly sand and I was able to get a couple 100lbs of manure into it.

My question is what would be a good plant to act as a green fertilizer once the garden is done for the year. Also, is it a good idea to add vermiculite and perlite to loosen and aerate the soil?

    Great channel!

  • hows the garden doing i hope its all good mine is great i have already eating some lettuce romaine that is and tomatoes are growing great and collards.hey is that tomatoe you planted deep gonna spread roots everywhere on the whole stem .

  • Good tips, thank you!

  • Cheers Patti, I was thinking yesterday about how I should deal with the 20 odd tomatoes which came up by themselves in my garden recently

  • Hooray for Solanums!

  • you can also add powered milk to give the tomatoe plant some calcium or add some egg shells around the bottom of the plant.

  • Never heard of planting them deep. Makes sense just like potatoes...

  • Awesome video ~ Thank you so much!

  • Great tips.

  • Thanks. I did know that about planting tomatoes deep
