  • thanks very much, my notes got stolen and I forgot my last 3 months of algebra :(

so im strugglin, even as freshman

  • I don't know why he is dealing with negatives. I would have subtracted .10 x from both sides and 24 from both sides. Then you end up with 4 divided by .20x.

  • You rock dude!!! really!!!

I hope they pay you enough for your efforts!!!

    GOD BLESS YOU SIR!!!!

hoping for more videos to come!!

  • thanks a lot...i love the way you explain...you should get paid for doing this.....if i were rick i could send you a check with tons of zeros..peace

  • thank you

  • Man I rocked that problem. Ready for university...

  • I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • these are the ONLY word problems I find easy, everything else is WTF all the way.

  • HUGE HELP!!

  • You explain this so well!

  • Thanks!!!

You saved me the night before the final!

    You Rock!

  • Thanks, I looked at other videos and this help me the most to understand it =)

  • I understand it!! but when I try a different problem on my own my head goes blank =(

  • @Nessie100EC I'm right there with you. I have always struggled with math.

  • If they give you the final solution would you then subtract the amount on the other side of the equals?

  • i like this one

  • dude this guys like a math god

  • this is great, i've never been able to do these!

  • @RadekLudva i cant imagine you ever shutting the fuck up

  • @joeratti why dont you stfu ?

  • @colenicklvrs very clever

  • I think I get it now. So if i were to take the answer 20 and replace it with the x variable he put on the third cup he drew it will equal 100! (20 + 80) = 100

  • Thank you so much for posting this. This helps a ton for my advanced physical science test tomorrow.

  • Very helpful. Thanks. 5/5

  • sub'd!

  • Sweet, i just learned this to tutor a girl that i like and now i understand it perfectly! thank you...

  • THANK YOU!!!!

    this made it easier.

  • jesus thats easier

  • hehehe, I have gone through Differential equation in the best school that the bay area, CA has. And It took me two minutes to realize this was a simple question. Beautifly explained. Thank you for your dedication.

  • oh no we just did this for 3 daays and then we ran out of time and i have 9 pages of this for homework and 4 pages as a take home test and i dont get it at all so basically im skrewed!!

  • thaaax

  • great tutorial - i was a math whiz in high school but studying for GMATs now (and it's been a while since my algebra days) - this is a great refresher.

  • Yeah, i'm studyin' for the GMAT too and I never thought I would need a algebra tutorial. It's mind-boggling

  • this video beat waiting at the math lab for help! I should have come here first.

  • Wow beautiful! thank you so much. wayyy better than my professor explains. I really appreciate it. :)

  • Thanks!

  • Thank you soooooo much! Very very helpful!

  • i actualy had a hard time doing this

  • Excellent tutorial. You explained it very clearly. I know this will help many people.

  • Thank you for the clear explanation.

  • thanks so much! this helped me a lot

  • uhhm anyone watching this cares. duhh!!! would you watch it if you didn't care?

  • im watching it cuz i was sick and i missed class

  • boo >:(

  • thanks for your helpful explanation. You seem like a nice fellow.

  • You really have to love figuring out solutions to be successful in mathematics formulas. If you h8 math than it will make thee process very difficult! In order to do well you have to find some enjoyment in it - trust me. If you h8 math (or anything) it will make harder for you to do!

  • Thank you MathTV...i just want to let you know that you are appreciated, plz don't stop helping ppl (like myself) who are horrible in math, u guys make a world of difference

  • Thank you! You explain it so clearly. Thank you!

  • If you guys just actually payed attention, you would have passed. I came ti this video completely confused, and now I'm very good at this. Thank you, MathTV!

  • stop blaming ur teachers jeesh

  • As an Algebra teacher with 30+ years of experience, let me begin by apologizing for my colleague. It's never good form when someone else in the know looks at you and thinks "small animals have been known to gnaw off their legs..."

  • Algebra must always be so confusing to answer?

    MY GOD!

  • Dear God...I am so screwed! I'm never going to pass this final exam!!!!

  • me too !!! and our teacher sucks..so there is no way that im passing my class :/

  • this makes sense to me now. i have to practice these problems a lot because i'm dumber than a rock.

  • same here !

  • Hey at the end of the problem is not 0.20 is ''0.30''

How can you solve the problem with that 0.20 I know you are going to get a 0.20 but that step is confusing to me I can't see from where is that 0.20 coming from..

    Thanks for the Teaching..

  • he subtracted 0.30 from both sides.

    0.30-0.10=0.20

  • Please Help me with this one..

A history teacher went to a field trip with some of the best students from her two government classes. Altogether, there are 10 more boys than girls in both classes. A total of 11 students attended the field trip.If 10 percent of the girls and 20 percent of the boys from the teachers 2 classes attended the field trip, How many girls and how many boys went to the field trip?

    Thanks.

  • Like magic.

  • Bet you guys can't do this:

How many grams of alcohol must be added to 40 grams of a 15% alcohol solution to obtain 20% alcohol solution?

  • That's actually a really easy problem to do. I think you're just trying to bait them into doing your homework for you. Your problem isn't any different than his, just remember you're adding 100% alcohol solution to your 15%.

  • x(100)+40(15)=20(x+40)

  • Thanks, but I already knew how to do that problem :) I was trying to give him hints, not set up the problem for him. Otherwise, he won't learn how to do it for himself.

  • whatever, it was 4 weeks ago so he either did it or cheated some other way so its moot

  • BTW, if you're ever stuck on a math hw problem, just go over to Yahoo Answers and ask for help.

  • If 34 people board the fail boat and it takes 4 hours to get 1 lmaonade stand on the poop deck, when can the boat set sail for fail?

    Please show you work.

  • A shredder can only shred 10 documents an hour. The Justice Dept. will be there in 2 hours. There are 100 documents to be shredded. What about the park scene?

  • a banca takes 10 hours to sail a distanece of 100 nautical miles with the current. Againts the current, it takes the banca 25 hours to sail the same distance. Find the rate of the current.

    CAN ANY BODY HELP ME???PLEAESE??

  • distance= rate x time

  • current=x right

    so speed=y

    100/10=10m/h (10=x-y)

100/25=4m/h (4=x+y) and now u have a system of equations and u can solve (at least i think this is how u do these)

  • i suck at math so much just seeing a math book gives me a headache, but with this professor its like a breeze,i like the way he emphasizes his words and his explanations, thank u god for youtube and for this teacher. amen

  • i feel you haha my math teacher is horrible and i had no idea what was going on in my class and now that i found this i might actually pass!!!!

  • haha i have an exam tomorrow as well.

    thanks!

  • Gracias!

  • Thank u

  • You are not only a great mathematician you are a great teacher so many math teachers are great at math but horrible at teaching it to you. I really like the visual of the solution containers as opposed to the hard to interpret graph that most teachers use.

  • yay TY

  • here's a problem i was thinking of:

in a certain household a mother mixes sugary sweeten cereal with a healthy unsweetened version of the same cereal, from experience the mixture is too bland when the sweetened cereal drops to less than 40% of the mix. her son chris has just mixed 14 oz of unsweetened cereal with a 32 oz package of sweetened cereal . how much more unsweetened cereal does chris need to add to make the mix 40% sweetened and 60% unsweetened? please answer the following question.
