Isn't the rfid chip in the packaging for inventory purposes? That's all Walmart cares about - how many items are on the shelf. Why would they put chips in the clothes and follow me everywhere? Walmart wouldn't spend money to find out where items sold in Walmart go when I wear them.
@THReynolds2 You're correct that RFID is being used for inventory purposes now. However, the ability for manufacturers to embed data-bearing chips unnoticed in consumer goods has privacy advocates concerned about possible future applications. It's a bit too Orwellian for some, myself included.
@THReynolds2 The little cube-looking figure with the letters "E P C" in the lower left corner of the item's label is what clues you that there is an RFID tag enclosed in the product. The logo is always very small and inconspicuous, so I'm not surprised you were confused by my little video. The reason why the clip was so short and why I didn't give any verbal explanation was that the Wal-Mart employees tried to prevent me from taking video inside the store.
im doing a film soon on these. ty for posting. fractle-antenna rfid trackers are so thin they go into seams of clothes, hidden in the ink of stamped-on upc codes & even inside items like electronics. Freq's in the air power these trackers now & can be tracked like GPS. its scary. there is software that takes groups of rfid signals and makes an associative profile for individuals. licenses, credit cards, membership cards provide anchor info to profile other signals "for the sake of marketing"

What did you show me? All I could see was the barcode that tells the cash register what the item is and the cost.
