What I like about Waldteufel is that his melodies are sometimes very far from pompous ballroom-style and more like humble street songs that are very, very XXth century Paris. I think Nino Rota and Maurice Jaubert have spent a lot of time listening to him.

@baracine Instead of the ballroom, you picture people dancing or skating in a park, or even as background music for them walking or riding in a carriage!
