I have this exact machine. I've always had a problem doing latte art. The milk rarely if ever seems thick enough. I've wondered if it is me or the machine - or both. I see that one thing that you do is pour off the start of the milk both times you started to pour. Is that to eliminate the thinner portion of the milk?

I could be wrong, but did you leave the shots sitting there too long?
Does your machine allow you to steam and pull at the same time?
