When Ashley was infected you didn't summarily shot her in the face, When Leon was infected and attacked Ada she didn't kill him, because they're both white. It's one thing to find yourself surrounded by zombies and having to fight to stay alive, it's something else to fly overseas, incite a confrontation by trespassing, then killing everything in sight.

Most people are susceptible to subliminal messages, the message doesn't even have to be subliminal it just needs to be repeated over a period of time. Television has such an influence, TV is essentially audio and visual stimuli. Video games are much the same, with one key difference, your active participation in said stimuli, making it it even more influential, wouldn't you say?
