  • I have this game but I'm no longer interested in keeping it. Make me an offer I can't refuse.

  • Loved this game, now I wish I woulda kept it, dang things are going for over 300 bucks on ebay now.

  • @Jokerin760 I have this game which I'm trying to sell for a jobless relative. Do you know anyone who would be interested in it? There's no missing pieces, everything works, and it's in the original box with the assembly and instruction booklet.

  • This was a great game growing up. Surprisingly it held up for many years. Loved going to the Bazzar and haggling til the durka durka closed it! Lol

  • me and my friends still regularly play this game. and we take "frontier" hits from the pipe whenever we cross. also a hit for doubling your troops before seiging the tower, etc etc, best board game ever made period.

  • @mrsotko a smoking game :?

  • I wish I was that lucky I still want to play this

  • Roland wins. That's Ka, folks.

  • I used to have this in 7th grade or so, although I don't think I ever played it the way you were supposed to, with the board. I just played it with the tower unit itself. I'd forgotten I ever saw this commercial until that line, "And I was victorious!" rang the memory bell. Thanks for uploading this.

  • I used to be scared shitless when i played it when i was 6 years old lol

  • This commercial would have been better if he started off by saying "muaaahhhh...the dark...tower." Still good though.

  • R.I.P. Unicron!

  • It's like an Atari board game.

  • I have Dark Tower in my gaming collection with a few other MB Electronic games, i have decided to collect the Electronic MB games from the 1970`s & 80`s as i have found them to be fun & interesting

  • I played the hell out of it back in the day.

  • Thumbs up if "Beer and Board Games" got you here.

  • @yuyu2809 The fact that 51 other people thought the same thing as me, and wanted to watch the commercial they played 10 seconds of, is for some reason just absolutely mind fuckingly cool.

  • Orson Welles!!!

  • Playing this game and listening to Iron Maiden 'Piece of Mind' and 'Number of the Beast' is how I spent 6th grade. Time well spent!

  • I bought a copy of this game a long time ago for $14.99 at a regular retail outlet when it was in stock. Someone had put the wrong price on it.

  • just won a game of this thank god my step dads a nerd and got this when he was a kid

  • Poor Orson Welles. To go from making the best American motion picture ever made (Citizen Kane), to being relegated to making commercials for board games. What a downfall.

  • @CLDavi1983 Even worse. His last feature film was Transformers: The Movie. Not the Michael Bay film, but an animated film from the 80s that was called the 2-hour long toy commercial.

  • @MikeTMerciless as oposed to those half hour toy commericals they'd show every week?

  • @AngelusDlion That would've been lower, I guess.

  • @CLDavi1983 what an upfall, you mean. this game kicks ass!

  • how funny. I miss board games.

  • awesome!

  • @dpeab11370 There was a setting to play against the computer =)

  • i still have most of the game

  • Brilliant.

  • If you like Dare Tower check out Xpirate from Exim Games

  • yes. always

  • this is the best thing orson welles ever did

  • @FrenkHooley sacrilege!

  • Orson could've shilled for Hungry Hungry Hippos (which, thinking about it, would've been somewhat appropriate) and made it sound like an epic voyage of earth-shattering magnitude. He infused even the lowest TV ads with his brilliance. Often times while completely tanked.

  • I love that game. I still have it....and it works. Even played it withing the last month too. :)

  • Man I forgot he did this commercial, that game was the shit I gotta buy one on e-bay badass orson traveling back in time laying siege

  • I've still got my Dark Tower

  • This is what Roland has been searching for all this time!! a board game!! I renounce the Dark tower series!

  • Worst day ever. It had been about a year since the last time I had played Dark Tower. I had some friends over who had not played it before. I decided we must play it! I went into my garage, put it on the table and set it up. After I put in fresh batteries, I was dismayed to find it had stopped working... I will always love you Dark Tower...

  • @humulos

The same thing happened to me today with my original game.....you are not alone in your sadness.....Dark Tower kept our family together many nights which rarely happens today!

  • wait..is that man the legendary Orson Welles?

  • I actually have this game in storage, but I don't know if the tower still works because it has no batteries in it. The tower requires 2 "D" batteries. In like 1981, my dad received or won a huge package of the latest games. Some he STILL hasn't OPENED! LOL

  • @pytko3 wow THOSE are gonna be worth something

  • WOW i forgot about this!Damn i wish i could find a good copy of it!

  • DORK TOWER

  • This game was one of the best games ever...you could even play it with the tower alone.

  • this game still rules

  • his name was Orson Welles

  • Orson Welles pimping children's board games? Say it ain't so, Joe, say it ain't so!

Actually, I think it's cool he did this commercial.

  • @Skull10 It is pretty cool.

  • A friend on this street had this game. It seemed really cool, but we only played it once because he already knew everything just from the sounds and movements of the game. He called out everything I was looking at on the screen even though he couldn't see it. That one game was fun.

  • While I loved this game and the great artwork by Bob Pepper, I could never understand the brigands. They looked like blind bird pirates with smoldering hats attacking you with twin guitar picks.

  • I miss you dark tower, can someone please bring you back!!!

  • We had this game but guess what we left da batteries in it so now it doesn't work grrrr i wanna play it

  • awesome game.

  • I found this game yesterday in a Salvation Army shop for $3.99. The game is in complete working order and all the pieces are in mint condition and none are missing. I felt like I won the lottery.

  • You did. That game is worth over 100 bucks.

  • You did win the lottery! They are like $100 on Ebay!

  • @mikalahi - I stand and salute you!

  • @mikalahi wow you lucked out, it's hard to find old toys intact I have that problem with my Fisher Price little people's collection. keep up the good work

  • @mikalahi my aunt went on ebay, she paid like 370 dollars.

  • @mikalahi Lucky you! You DID win the lottery, mate!

  • @mikalahi bastard! i would give anything to find this game again!! ha ha, i'm glad it went to someone who will appreciate it!!

  • @mikalahi Pretty incredible, since it goes for 100 or more on eBay!

  • @breemystic

    haggle

  • @mikalahi I imagined reading your comment with Orson Welles' voice, hehe. NIce trick.

  • My friend has Dark Tower, he busted it out a few months ago while we were getting drunk....LOL ! I found it online used for 325$ who knew ?

  • orson welles looks like darell hammond doing sean connery.

  • good toy

  • I have this game but I would never EBay it for a mere 100 dollars. My family and I still play it and it works great. Just make sure the batteries don't corrode in it.

  • Theres a flash player version thats just like the original. Google darktower at hot flash games.

  • Thank you.

  • @fizziwig88 i love you! now i can play this to my hearts content!!!

  • Amazing game and Welles looks like he would a great actor today.

  • COOL COMERCIAL AND GAME!!!!!

  • Man for a second there I thought good ol' Orson was gonna break out a glass of Paul Mason wine.

I never did have this game but it looks completely awesome.

  • yknow, theres a wine company that has the fine french traditions....hiccup....

  • I found this game in my attic, it was my dads.

  • Had this one as well. I do wish i still had all my stuff stashed away still...

  • I still own a working one and love it! the kids have really taken to it as well. eBay DT and see what they go for!

  • Loved this game. still got it stashed in a box somewhere. I didn't know Welles did the commercial. Wish he was drunk in this one too.

  • cool

  • I loved this game!!, shame it got blobbed in my house fire in 1983 :(

    It also scared me! :(

  • Yeah, it was a scary game. That was the appeal.

  • my god. I just can't believe there are so many others like me for whom this game played a big role growing up. Wikipedia claims there was a legal dispute which caused MB to cease production, which is a bummer. Great F'n game...just great.

  • LOL!!! I remember one day coming home from school and saw my dad, sister and her husband playing the DT game and I told dad I wanna play I was like 9 years old he said "sorry son you are too dumb to play." Aaahhh good ol' day!.

  • lol ....but look at you now...you can use a computer to type funny comments on a video web site ...good for you! ;)

  • Yeah LOL and thanks! I tried to buy that game from eBay but they went over 100 dollars and more! Dang!

  • my brothers and i played last night!!! we got my 8 year sold into it. we played it when it first came out. we actually have 2 towers. one doesn't work but we keep it for parts. it SO RULES!!!!

  • oh wow, i wish i was aware of this game prior to, well, now.

    looks fucking cool.

  • i got this game for x-mas 1983. wish i still had it!

  • Wow,how low did you fell,Orson. Guess there were bills to pay...

  • Darktower was an iconic legendary game. There is no shame in Wells doing the commercial at all.

  • Agreed. I "inherited" my mom's Dark Tower game, including everything but the box. I friggin' love that thing!

  • I remember playing this game with my dad and myself all the time when I was growing up, those brigands and dragon would scare the crap out of me when theyd pop up with the noises, Awesome game, too bad its probably buried deep in our garage somewhere with some of the pieces missing so I wouldnt be able to sell it on ebay for alot of money

  • This was my favorite game in the world - we'd play all night long. Of course I sold mine at a garage sale back in the day. Ugh...

  • This game came out in 1981, so the commercial is from late that year, Xmas season of course! I still have mine too :)

  • hotflashgames .

    you know the rest.

  • Holy crap! hotflashgames may be the best website ever made.

  • Yeah it's pretty rocking. I even got into the other games, besides darktower. But ever since I lost my dark tower I've been hoping someone would make an online dark tower. Woohoo!

  • there is an on line version of this game. Although when I post the wen site you tube stops me. I found it through wikipedia.

  • I have two of these in perfect working order. Bids anyone? Great game.

  • what do you want for them?

  • my dad and me spent hours playing this i would buy it if it came out again, getting the pegasus card was a real bonus if i remember but i always lost everything in the bazaar

  • 8( Want to play

  • google hotflashgames

  • My dad had it, its all comin back to me now...

  • I think this is 1980 or 81. I don't know. orson was a great man.

  • That older then me!

  • When he says "computer" it destroys the whole backwards-in-time story. He should have said "the TOWER kept track".

  • Yes, yes, yes. I am so glad Neil favorited this video, I can now find it whenever I want.

  • I don't understand... why did Neil Favorite this video? And why do you like it as well? It's just a commercial, isn't it? Of some sort of game.

  • Neil and I like Orson Welles. Look him up, he's a riot

  • Oh, I see now. So he did films and radio! It says he had a deep voice... and somewhere around the stuff I read it said he ate 18 hotdogs!

Wow. He was an accomplished man.

    Thank you, Ryan. ^_^

  • I remember playing this game and it was the best! I played another game called PayDay that was pretty good, but nothing beats the DARK TOWER! Live on Orsen Wells!

  • My brother used to get so friggin upset when I used to beat him in this game. He was bigger than me and I was afraid of him so I used to let hime win. Good times

  • i loved this game.

  • Ya I loved this game! My friends and I had the board memorized, so we just took the tower itself and play by the pool ... and this was years before the GameBoy!

  • Orson Wells is a sellout!

  • Hey a mans got to eat. Some more than others.

  • Too funny!
