The hopping at the launch is caused by what is called "Axle Wrap" where the torque of the vehicle actually bends the leaf springs in an "S" shape and then the springs snap back and the full motion is the actual rotation of the rear axle. This changes the angle of the drive shaft coupling to the differential and can cause imbalance and tear the whole vehicle apart, essentially. It would help if he replaced the springs with solid brackets or hooked stabilizers from the diff to the frame.

The turbo is basically just an air pump, when spooled up, it squeezes more air/fuel mixture into the cylinders then what could be done at normal air pressure. Super-charging the cylinders and making more power. That's very basically it....but the devil is in the details. Get it wrong and say goodbye to your engine!

this is actually a really good concept... there are multiple grades of gasoline and stuff, and the higher octane, the more expensive.

diesel is diesel... i'd say building a diesel drag truck might be more expensive at first, but the 6$ per gallon you're going to save over racing fuel WILL add up when you get a few runs in.

That's a very old video, that truck is much faster now, hooks up way better, but will probably be retired for a new project. It's not as fast or will ever be as fast as the Banks truck, but Banks is also running NOS and Nitro Methane along with #2 diesel. Maybe someday Gale Banks will actually engineer something that doesn't cost a fortune and can put down some decent numbers that everyone can buy. That being said his drag truck is an impressive piece of machinery, and so will his new rail be.
