It's a bit like EE changing it's theme music to something completely different or Corrie dropping its Eric Spear opening theme music.....unthinkable and career suicide for the person that even thinks of doing so.

I quite like it. Times are changing, the show couldn't of stayed as it was with the likes of CSI, Law and Order etc on British screens now. It fits it well. Its 2010 now, and even though the original theme was classic, this is the future.
the fact that the old theme was retro, because of moving into HD u have to jazz it up and enter the digital age hence why they went to soft trance type genre which is popular now.
the new theme suits the new intro I like it :) - however nothing will beat the 1997-2003 theme :D

I worked as an supporting artist on the bill recently and whilst there, i was told by 'people in the know' that The Bill did kind of die out in the recent past, but that huge episode involving Jason Devlin, Afghanistani Immigrants, etc which was in 6 parts was to be one of the episodes to bring The Bill back to the top. I believe it kind of has, as it's got the new time slot, etc. So i don't think they will ever go back to the old theme, which i preferred too.
As I also hate The Bill's New Theme Tune I decided to write to ITV, this is the email I recieved back from them...

BEATHROKZ your absolutly right the starting of it reminds me of when they had the CO19 Armed police programme on. It would of been better at the start when they show the skyline of London during that in the background they could have an emergency operator saying 'Emergency call'... (public saying) 'Police' or something then thats when you see the police car travelling around London.
