By last station I mean last club Baggio played. When I made this video, there're lots of videos showing Baggio's time in Fiorentina, Juventus, Milan, Inter, etc. So I made one with Brescia.

I remember that Italy team, they struggled alot in the first round, but the expectations were very high for it. Lets say Baggio came threw when it really mattered, like a true leader should, and that is why he will be remembered as one of the greatest players of the 90's.

To make it big on the international stage means to prove yourself at a major tournament...Euro or World Cup. There have been lots of great players that have never made it big in that regard...ex. Eric Cantona.

True..and thats exactly why he was a great player. Not all make it threw on that level, but many have ex. Kahn(was the biggest reason for German 2nd place at WC 02), Nedved, Shevchenko(carried his pretty weak team into World Cup top 8), and a few others. They all had great names like Baggio and much was expected from them as they were stars at club level....and they all came threw when they needed to. Today we are waiting for players like Messi to do that at maybe the next World Cup.

Re: USA 94 - Massaro had arguably the best goal chance the first half. He was effective, but if ONLY Baggio were semi-fit! R Baggio needed to use his brain to adapt to Sacchi's dull 4-4-2 as in previous rounds, & the few chances he crafted to strike for himself would be converted if he was fit, against excellent but tired centre backs. Forza Baggio!!

Also see his strike vs. Czech. in 90 ..though he was not by nature all that fast, he mesmerised a high quality team, pure class.

Re: his physical strength - Anyone watching his games in 1990 and vs. Bulgaria and Spain will see he was hard as nails while pushed and shoved by physical players like Ivanov or Nadal. Baggio was called to play in a friendly match against Spain in Genova for a last match for Italy. I still cannot believe that Trapattoni took Doni and Di Livio to the 2002 World Cup and not our Great Roberto.

I agree with you. Trappattoni was a fairly decent coach but his biggest shortcoming was his inability to see past a personal problem with Baggio. Baggio proved himself to be great again and deserved the shot. Italy would have gone far with him.

facts: Baggio almost a WC by himself (94); He was totally underused (a disgrace) by coaches, like in '90, '98 and was never even picked in a squad for the Euros (like in '96 or 2000); he would have made a difference in 2002 even at 35...AND, he still managed to score 9 WC goals with limited opportunities...shame that he, Maldini and Albertini never won the WC

as far as that WC 94 concerned, if italy did not have him,they would be home much earlier..penalties are lottery..and even then he was injured..one maradona missed one against yugoslavia in italy 90,so what..but he had concentrated teammates to score for him..
