i am SO against BSL,Ive had the local council and RSPCA come to my house with complaints of owning a pit bull because of the shape of his head and his muscular frame which he inherited from the American Staffy in him, when hes a crossbreed of Boxer, Rhodesian Ridgeback and American Staffordshire Terrier, they left us alone when my dad told them he was registered in the system.
Showed that old geezer of a neighbor, should of seen the look on HIS face when I took my dog out for a walk the next day
When I meet powerful breeds I love to ask the owners if I can pet them. Lord knows they've been shunned like the plague. I've owned a Shepherd, Mastiff, and now a Doberman. There's nothing wrong with my furkids. What's wrong with YOU?

I would like to share a story about 2 dogs w/viscous repsbecoming instant friends! I was in Petsmart w/my German shepherd, and a lady walking a Pitbull asked if it was ok to let them get close, i said sure.. my dog only shows aggression if the other dog shows it 1st, otherwise she is great. So we let them sniff each, then they became instant friends and were being so good w/each other! When it was time to go, they both seemed sad to leave each other :( Proves it's all how you raise you dog!

@m1shadow Well 16 and half years actually. Thought she was gonna live for ever! even at 14 she thought she was a pup. I kept her as with all my dogs on a frozen BARF diet, defrosted before dinner time of course. Not sure if her being round all the other animals keeping her active made her stay healthy aswell. my other cross breeds lived to be 15 and 16 too but my Bullmastiff only lived to be 10 though. I think if you stick to natural diet you cant go wrong really.
Its a nice video and I see lots of comments supporting Pit Bulls and denouncing BSL. Thats all fine and good, but it doesnt pay the rent (aka get rid of BSL) nor does blogging or facebooking or similar.
ACTION and people coming out from behind their computers is what brings about change.

I am one of a very few fighting BSL in Denver, CO.
My biggest fear became a reality... Thank God their are laws to be follewed if not my Best friend Roys would have been put down not because it was his his falt because he reacted in self deffence. I hope others will read this and act responsibly with their best friends too.
I love dogs big or small and this has hurt me like you cant imagen. Owning a pat is a big responsibility and before you get one you have to learn the laws and requirment in owning one.
The Shiatsu didn't make it and now this has altered my life wishing I had never walked my dog that day. But the law is the law you must always walk your dog, friendly or not friendly with a leash at all times. Dogs are animals and they are designed to react agressive if they feel they are being charged at buy another animal they don't know.
The owner didn't react to what was about to happen and Roy felt deffensive and took a grab of his neck and swang the deffenceless Shiatsu by the neck. I tryied my best to prevent this from happening but I was over powered for the first time. In the five years that I've owned my best friend and Child Roy the American Bulldog it was the first time it happened.
I worned the owner my dog was not so friendly when being approached that way 50 feet before his dog came into contact with mine. The Shiatsus owner said dont warry that his was friendly. I told him is not his pet that I was worried about its mine please keep him away.
I have 3 American Bulldogs and only I know their temper and know what makes them tick. My oldes Roy 5 year old is a friendly dog that thinks he is a kid but is deffensive when a new dog is around him. The only way for Roy to accept any other dog is to first introduce him first after that Roy has a friend for life. This was not the case last week when an irresposible Pet parent was walking its friendly Shiatsu without a leash.

BSL is based on STATISTICS, NOT on the appearance of any breed.
Statistitians analyze the history of attacks on humans and other animals and conclude that pitbulls and some other breeds are much more prone to violence than other breeds.
You can't argue against statistics.
Your dog might be nice to you, but what if it kills another person's dog? Or even worse another person?

@9K58 It is not on based on statistics. In 2001 1 person was killed by a pitbull. Two people were killed by Labradors, one person was killed by a beagle, and one person was killed by a pomeranian. Pitbulls aren't prone to violence, stupid people are prone to owning pitbulls. My theory on breed specific legislation is that is has been thought up by people who would love to discriminate against minority groups of people, but the law now says they cannot! So what outlet is there for their fixed minds and inability to judge individuals for thir own worth but to have a go at minority dog breeds! Fact that Pittbull owners will NEVER share with the public: While they will say the Pittbull has a higher score on the Temperament Testing Society's scores, Self Protective/Aggressive Behavior, Threatening, and Aggression scores (30% of total) depend COMPLETELY on whether the dog was "Schutzhund trained". The Pitt owner simply says it was, and aggression of ANY KIND is considered a "trained" behaviour. The Pom owner who's dog barks at the "threat" will fail. The Pitt who lunges and snaps passes.

BSL is a bunch of bullshit. Here in the UK, now that the Pitbulls have been murdered, people are starting to call Staffordshire Bull Terriers dangerous as well. It is a banning or restriction of a certain breed/breeds. They can call for your dog to be killed or other punishments for owning an 'illegal' dog. It is based on the appearence of a dog and therefor is an unfair ban.

Oh my god! This is terriable. I had no idea people were being forced to put their dogs down. I have two rough collies, and I can't imagine the pain I would feel if I was forced to put them down.
Guys, I'm seriously crying. I had a Pitbull puppy. I named him Gemini. He was the sweetest, smartest, cutest & obedient dog I've ever seen. I live in an area in Rock Hill, SC where they basically forced me to get rid of it once they found out it was a Pitbull. They said either get rid of it or get evicted. I didn't want 2 give him away, but I got 3 lil 1s & it would b hard 4 me 2 find a home 4 us in 1 month. The best I did was find him a good home. The only breed they wouldn't allow is Pits.
I just got a Baby AmStaff, and I think it's the sweetest natured dog I've been around my entire life, and i'm not a dog person.This dog is going to be spoiled beyond spoiled. She's a sweetie. It's how ya raise them.

i have a friend that lived in ottawa with her pitbull that she grew up with. Well her family (and the dog) went on vacation. during the time they were on vacation a law was passed that every pitbull type dog was to be put to death.
When they arrived home they were accused of smuggling in a dangerous dog and Mazie was instantly put to sleep without consent. Their family was charged a fine of $2,500 dollars. She moved and know lives hapilly with two lovely pitbulls in a more accepting area.

I get what your saying. It's just in my experince with pit-bulls they've always been aggresive. Infact at this point me and my family are working to get a local law enforced due to a neighbors Pit-bulls getting lose and agresively charging us. The law states any breed of pit-bull or mix is to be pinned up and when on a leash to be musseled. This law is to protect other people from being attacked like I was. And the person is to have 100,000 dollars US insurance per Dog. Just a little Info.
It's really the person looking after the dog that is responsible, not the dog itself. A few of my friends and family have pit bulls or boxers, and they're all very nice dogs. My grandfather got bitten by a pit bull after getting angry and kicking it but it was only on the outside of the skin. Guess what he did. He put the dog in a bag and threw it off a bridge. This was 24 years ago, mind you.
that is very sad i live in australia and i love all animals no matter wat the breed and it makes me sick to see that they can put a breed of dog 2 sleep just because of there breed in australia a few months ago a 2yr old girl walked into a backyard and got attacked by a pitbull. the pitbull got put down i think that is wrong because the dog was only protecting its territory. why would the parents let the girl walk into a backyard knowing there is a dog in there so blame the parents not the dog

Great video! It brought tears to my eyes. Ontario politians handled "pitbull attacks" by their very typical "knee Jerk" reaction. Some days I am ashamed of living in Ontario, the most punitive province in all of Canada.
I love my dogs. They are extremely well behaved and have no agression in them whatsoever. Any politician who pushes BSL anywhere that I have a say will find a vigorous opponant here.
my friends dog was "put to sleep" the other week because she was "Dangerous". but really she was a big softy. she was a staffy, the mother of mine, and my friends heart was broken.
She was 'sentenced to death' because they said she was dangerous. the council decided to kill her. but they said it was because she was dangerous. really she only loved, she was a great mother,friend,daughter and family pet.

Why are there over 450 videos when you type in pit bull bsl? Why do we need SO MANY videos trying to convince people they're safe? If they really were the angels you claim we wouldn't need such a huge movement. "Hate the deed, not the breed." seems to only apply to pit bulls.

FYI - Ontario Canada does not take the dogs, when in public you have to have them on a leash and muzzled. They must be fixed and you cannot get another once the one you have passes away. I was the mother to a wonderful loving pitbull (whom I had to put down in 2000 due to epilepsy - he'd had it for 7 years and that day had 5 grand maul seizures). I just wanted to update you all who may be unaware of Ontario's laws ...

Ok you got me there... Not all pits are agressive, BUT they are soooo easily persuaded to be agressive. Its in their DNA to be this way! They can be agressive without one moment of training. They can just SNAP! at the sight or smell of something that triggers their latent agressive behavior.
When I was younger I worked with my mom at a boarding kennel (not a shelter people would leave their pets with us while they would go on holidays) Anyways Black labs..nice family pet right? Not this one, he attacked me, I was truely nothing just getting out of the car and he attacked me. The pitbull is the one that saved me life. Pitbulls are wonderful dogs.

i am SO against BSL,Ive had the local council and RSPCA come to my house with complaints of owning a pit bull because of the shape of his head and his muscular frame which he inherited from the American Staffy in him, when hes a crossbreed of Boxer, Rhodesian Ridgeback and American Staffordshire Terrier, they left us alone when my dad told them he was registered in the system.
Showed that old geezer of a neighbor, should of seen the look on HIS face when I took my dog out for a walk the next day

I would like to share a story about 2 dogs w/viscous repsbecoming instant friends! I was in Petsmart w/my German shepherd, and a lady walking a Pitbull asked if it was ok to let them get close, i said sure.. my dog only shows aggression if the other dog shows it 1st, otherwise she is great. So we let them sniff each, then they became instant friends and were being so good w/each other! When it was time to go, they both seemed sad to leave each other :( Proves it's all how you raise you dog!

@m1shadow Well 16 and half years actually. Thought she was gonna live for ever! even at 14 she thought she was a pup. I kept her as with all my dogs on a frozen BARF diet, defrosted before dinner time of course. Not sure if her being round all the other animals keeping her active made her stay healthy aswell. my other cross breeds lived to be 15 and 16 too but my Bullmastiff only lived to be 10 though. I think if you stick to natural diet you cant go wrong really.

Its a nice video and I see lots of comments supporting Pit Bulls and denouncing BSL. Thats all fine and good, but it doesnt pay the rent (aka get rid of BSL) nor does blogging or facebooking or similar.
ACTION and people coming out from behind their computers is what brings about change.
Until people are willing to commit to action... BSL lives on.

The Shiatsu didn't make it and now this has altered my life wishing I had never walked my dog that day. But the law is the law you must always walk your dog, friendly or not friendly with a leash at all times. Dogs are animals and they are designed to react agressive if they feel they are being charged at buy another animal they don't know.

The owner didn't react to what was about to happen and Roy felt deffensive and took a grab of his neck and swang the deffenceless Shiatsu by the neck. I tryied my best to prevent this from happening but I was over powered for the first time. In the five years that I've owned my best friend and Child Roy the American Bulldog it was the first time it happened.

I have 3 American Bulldogs and only I know their temper and know what makes them tick. My oldes Roy 5 year old is a friendly dog that thinks he is a kid but is deffensive when a new dog is around him. The only way for Roy to accept any other dog is to first introduce him first after that Roy has a friend for life. This was not the case last week when an irresposible Pet parent was walking its friendly Shiatsu without a leash.

Gun can do nothng without the owner, a dog can very well kill. Dog is not a mechanical system, it is a living thing.
A living thing capable of making desicions on its own, without you (owner).
One time it can make a desicion or even acting on an instinct (and different breeds have different instinct, that is what defines a breed even more than appearance I would say) to kill someone.

Willy335, attorney general does not have to be able to distinguish breeds, there are specialists.
BSL is based on STATISTICS, NOT on the appearance of any breed.
Statistitians analyze the history of attacks on humans and other animals and conclude that pitbulls and some other breeds are much more prone to violence than other breeds.
You can't argue against statistics.
Your dog might be nice to you, but what if it kills another person's dog? Or even worse another person?

@9K58 It is not on based on statistics. In 2001 1 person was killed by a pitbull. Two people were killed by Labradors, one person was killed by a beagle, and one person was killed by a pomeranian. Pitbulls aren't prone to violence, stupid people are prone to owning pitbulls. People may claim that pitbulls attack people more than any other breed but the average person doesn't even know what a pure APBT looks like.

Fact that Pittbull owners will NEVER share with the public: While they will say the Pittbull has a higher score on the Temperament Testing Society's scores, Self Protective/Aggressive Behavior, Threatening, and Aggression scores (30% of total) depend COMPLETELY on whether the dog was "Schutzhund trained". The Pitt owner simply says it was, and aggression of ANY KIND is considered a "trained" behaviour. The Pom owner who's dog barks at the "threat" will fail. The Pitt who lunges and snaps passes.

BSL is breed specific legislation.
It is a banning or restriction of a certain breed/breeds. They can call for your dog to be killed or other punishments for owning an 'illegal' dog. It is based on the appearence of a dog and therefor is an unfair ban.

I live in an area in Rock Hill, SC where they basically forced me to get rid of it once they found out it was a Pitbull. They said either get rid of it or get evicted. I didn't want 2 give him away, but I got 3 lil 1s & it would b hard 4 me 2 find a home 4 us in 1 month. The best I did was find him a good home. The only breed they wouldn't allow is Pits.

I just got a Baby AmStaff, and I think it's the sweetest natured dog I've been around my entire life, and i'm not a dog person.This dog is going to be spoiled beyond spoiled. She's a sweetie. It's how ya raise them.

i have a friend that lived in ottawa with her pitbull that she grew up with. Well her family (and the dog) went on vacation. during the time they were on vacation a law was passed that every pitbull type dog was to be put to death.
When they arrived home they were accused of smuggling in a dangerous dog and Mazie was instantly put to sleep without consent. Their family was charged a fine of $2,500 dollars. She moved and know lives hapilly with two lovely pitbulls in a more accepting area.

Ok, I'm going to get flamed for saying this. I was 3 years old and was attacked by a Pit. I can't go withing 20 feet before i start to shake and can't move. These dogs ruined my life. I now am Anti-Pitbull and nothing will change that.

I get what your saying. It's just in my experince with pit-bulls they've always been aggresive. Infact at this point me and my family are working to get a local law enforced due to a neighbors Pit-bulls getting lose and agresively charging us. The law states any breed of pit-bull or mix is to be pinned up and when on a leash to be musseled. This law is to protect other people from being attacked like I was. And the person is to have 100,000 dollars US insurance per Dog. Just a little Info.

It's really the person looking after the dog that is responsible, not the dog itself. A few of my friends and family have pit bulls or boxers, and they're all very nice dogs. My grandfather got bitten by a pit bull after getting angry and kicking it but it was only on the outside of the skin. Guess what he did. He put the dog in a bag and threw it off a bridge. This was 24 years ago, mind you.

that is very sad i live in australia and i love all animals no matter wat the breed and it makes me sick to see that they can put a breed of dog 2 sleep just because of there breed in australia a few months ago a 2yr old girl walked into a backyard and got attacked by a pitbull. the pitbull got put down i think that is wrong because the dog was only protecting its territory. why would the parents let the girl walk into a backyard knowing there is a dog in there so blame the parents not the dog

She was 'sentenced to death' because they said she was dangerous. the council decided to kill her. but they said it was because she was dangerous. really she only loved, she was a great mother,friend,daughter and family pet.
she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Why are there over 450 videos when you type in pit bull bsl? Why do we need SO MANY videos trying to convince people they're safe? If they really were the angels you claim we wouldn't need such a huge movement. "Hate the deed, not the breed." seems to only apply to pit bulls.

i live in ontario, and its sad. a few blocks away they had a petition for their dog who was euthinized. its so sad!(L) i would love a pitbull. they are so cute:) its just like rottweilers, they are the same thing, how they might be dangerous, but have they been banned yet? its ridiculous. its not the breed. i personally say it is the owners. your supposed to treat a dog right, and if not, thats how they get vicious. TREAT YOUR DOG PROPERLY!

FYI - Ontario Canada does not take the dogs, when in public you have to have them on a leash and muzzled. They must be fixed and you cannot get another once the one you have passes away. I was the mother to a wonderful loving pitbull (whom I had to put down in 2000 due to epilepsy - he'd had it for 7 years and that day had 5 grand maul seizures). I just wanted to update you all who may be unaware of Ontario's laws ...

Ok you got me there... Not all pits are agressive, BUT they are soooo easily persuaded to be agressive. Its in their DNA to be this way! They can be agressive without one moment of training. They can just SNAP! at the sight or smell of something that triggers their latent agressive behavior.

When I was younger I worked with my mom at a boarding kennel (not a shelter people would leave their pets with us while they would go on holidays) Anyways Black labs..nice family pet right? Not this one, he attacked me, I was truely nothing just getting out of the car and he attacked me. The pitbull is the one that saved me life. Pitbulls are wonderful dogs.
