  • wow at first i thought u bought that plane it looks and flies perfectly

  • Why not put the things up for sale? I bet you build a better plane then the Chinese.

  • @whatnameainttakn thanks, we started rcFoamFighter to hopefully get other hobbyists interested in scratch building. We never had any intentions on selling kits as both Paul and I have full time jobs and there really isn't time for it.

  • @whatnameainttakn

fuck u are u saying that chinese suck?

    huh?

    是不是啊?

  • what servoes do you use to move the control surfaces? are they connected to your ESC?

  • eaglesfanboy please check the links in the video information bar. There is a link to the free template plans and a link to the build forum which should answer all your questions.

  • i really liked this plane...i was thinking of making one with foam board and keep the expenses minimal.....i had this kinda doubt..i do have a old rc 4 channel helicopter transmitter lying somewhere, so can i use it to control the plane?....ill change the frequency crystal on the planes reciever or on the transmitter......help me out here please....will it work?

  • J47F I can't tell you if it will work or not as I have never tried it, but what have you to lose if you try. You already have a radio and foam board is very cheap so give it a try. This is what scratch building is all about, experimenting and exploring the unknown. As for the radio, if it does not have onboard elevon mixing you will need to get a v-tail mixing cable for the aileron and elevator servos. Just do a search on the internet to find one. Good luck with your build!

  • what dencity epp do you use 1.3 or 1.9

  • what is the speed

  • quangluu96 the SkyFighter v2 best speed clocks were 94mph on 3 cells and 98mph on 4 cells but with a much smaller prop. The new SkyFighter v3 I am working on now will be much faster. My target speed will be 170mph. It is a little bigger than the one in this video but has more than 5 times the power!! 1800watts @85amps!!

  • @rcFoamFighters 85 amps wow thats more than the apollo space craft had after landing on the moon

  • smeato09 when you say it like that I guess it is quite a bit of power, lol!!!

  • great but i didnt manage to make v3 XD

  • Thats ok keato02!! I'm working on the v3 myself. It will be very fast. Target speed 170mph!!!

  • cool

  • Well Frank, worth another 5 stars. Very fast. You might convince me to build one yet when I get all the half build I'm currently working on done. :)

  • Thank for the 5 stars BigMeanyVids!!Please don't for get to check out the link in the video side bar to the build forum thread on this plane. There is a lot of good information there if you decide to build one.

  • how long would you say the battery life is on one of these planes

  • YoGuy121 Battery life if that is what you mean could be hundreds of charges if you take proper care of the batteries. If you are refering to actual run time per flight then I would guess Around 5 to 7 minutes depending on how throttle happy you get.

  • Im building a plane with depron foam and i want to add colour to it, so can i use duct tape?

If not what tape can i use?

  • danyalc07 please please do not use duct tape. It will make your plane too heavy and it will fly like a brick falling out of the sky. I know because I tried it back when they first came out with all those cool bright colors. We use sealing tape (packing tape) it is much much lighter. There is an artical about it and a link where to get it on rcFoamFighters blog in the product review section. I'll send you the link.

  • are these servos better Metal Gear 9g RC Servo Futaba Hitec HS-55 GWS MG90 90

  • inter996 any 9g to 20g metal geared servo will work fine on this plane so as long as the ones you have listed are metal gear servos they will work.

  • is this type of servo good for this plane:

9g SG90 SG-90 Servo for Futaba Hitec HS-55 GWS walkera

  • These servos will work fine with the 2 cell set up but may be just a little weak with the 3 cell setup especially at 80mph+ also they would not be very crash resistant. I myself prefer using metal geared servos. They can take a lot more abuse than the plastic ones.

  • weldone. loads of research and you get a awesome jet. realy you done a great job.

  • Thanks TheSlayerman1!! All the testing and research is the only way I know to get things right when you start completely from scratch. I'm just glad it turned out the way it did! I love the way this plane flys!!!

  • What is the yellow fabric that you cover the wings with? and where do you get it? by the way how do you apply it fiberglass or super 90?

  • noxnflame the yellow fabric is a fiberglass weave and we use 3m 90 to apply it to the epp foam. You can get both at Home Depot or order it online. Please click on the link to the build thread in the video side bar for more information.

  • fast, looks cool too, im sure this will be my next plane, to build, but im still training.

  • Awesome angrygunsmith!!! If you decide to build this plane please be sure to check out the build thread on RCGroups Forums. I put a link to it in the video side bar. There is a lot of helpful information there along with pictures and videos from other hobbyists who have built this plane. Good luck with the build and let us know how it goes!!!

  • will do, but it might be a good few months, will set as vid response to this.

  • could you tell me from where i can buy the servos

  • inter966 These are Hitec servos so you can usually get them at any local hobby shop and online. If you can't find them you can use any 12 gram to 20 gram metal geared servos.

  • cuold you send me the template in doc format cause it is telling that it has bad encrypt text when i open it

  • i made this one from the template on the rcfoamfighters site and have a question

i was holding it at full throttle and it seemed to want to roll ... imsure its because of the turning of the motor

    but is that normal ??

  • nerjunky41 that is torque roll from the motor and prop rotation. This will make the plane want to roll when flying too and needs to be adjusted out so the plane will fly without rolling. The plane will roll the opposite direction of the rotation of the motor. I usually set the plane's control surfaces up with about 1/8 inch difference on the roll to counter the torque before the first flight and use the radio trim to get the plane to stop rolling once it's in the air.

  • are you saying trim the right elevon 1/8 inch or make it 1/8 inch bigger?

  • netjunky41 both elevons need to be the same size. By trim I mean adjust with the control rods so one is up a little and the other down a little to make the elevons counter the torque roll of the motor and prop. Be sure to adjust them to make the plane roll the opposite direction it torques to under throttle.

  • ok thanks

i think i got it now

  • i tried it and it seems to not have enough power just goes about 20 feet and noses into the ground.

i tried to google the motor that the design says but never found anything.

do you have a link for the site you got the motor from?

  • Thanks iamthepolice!! Glad you liked the video ! Please be sure to check out our YouTube Channel as there are a lot more videos and cool links there.

  • woaahhh that looks soo slick and like soo cool

omg i have to build one, iv just ordered my rc simulator to get the hang of flying.

iv already built a depron F-117 Stealth without electrics (lack of money)

thank you for the wicked video! your plane is amazing!!!!!

    A****

  • dammn all your airplanes look so professional i wanna built one but dont got the money for all the electronics =[ sucks for me....well keep up the good work.....u should try doing some ducted fan models like a F-22 or F-18 =D

  • Azer831 cost is one of the main reasons why both Paul and I scratch build most of our planes. It is a lot cheaper than you might think. You could just start by getting the pieces one by one and don't forget to enter our monthly giveaways. This month we are giving away a basic kit to build the SkyFighter v2. More informaion is on our blog. The link to the Blog is in the video side bar. Good Luck!!!

  • hey dude u should have mounted a mini cam on tht then u could make a video called "This is the fast shit Biotch"

  • You're right aztigpoko!! It is a jet fighter and it is called the SkyFighter v2! Thanks for watching!!!

  • its a jet fighter!!!XD

  • Sweet

  • Mostlyfun, Thanks for watching the video and leaving a comment!

  • Thanks kapitanC! Glad you enjoy the videos and like our new tabletop hotwire cutter. I'll have to do a review on that one sometime. It is much more adjustable than the other one we had.

  • always love to watch all your fast plane speeding. nice build. looks like you guys are having a new jigs for 45 bevel cutting with the portable foam cutter. i believe it really come in handy.

  • Wow! That's a hot one! I'll be retiring from work in a few months. Maybe then I'll have time to build something.

  • Cool garyshoaf!! Conratulations on retiring soon. Wish I could say that. I know what I would be doing, Building and flying airplanes all day long!!! Good luck on the Build!

  • Awesome, good job, Frank!

  • Yo Yo bigchowder is in the house!!! How is it goin Chris!! I keep telling Paul to send you your plane but he seems to be having too much fun flying it himself, lol!! I think you might have to make another trip out here sometime so you can pick it up.

  • insane speeeeeeeeeeeed what is the speed

  • Put the radar gun to her this past weekend she was smokin hot!! approaching triple digits on a completely calm day. I was very happy!! Stay tuned for the next video on this plane..

  • Nice Plane!!. Cant wait to see it dialed in.

    5*

  • Thanks for the 5* rating Gezelem2002! More video coming soon.

  • Another great video!

I love your work! Clear, concise, too the point!

Great looking plane, looks to be a good flyer.

Please don't branch out into fitness and survival videos! lol

  • cyberteque thanks for reposting your comment.I appologize again for accidentally removing it. We apprciate your input and are glad you have decide to particapate! It really helps give us more motivation to build more planes and come up with new ideas. I don't think you will have to worry too much about us branching off into fitness and survival videos. As you can see from our videos we don't look like fitness guru anyway, lol!!!!!

  • LOL!

  • nice plane Frank. So did the smaller prop make it fly faster (it's hard to tell on the video but it seemed to go faster with the 5 inch prop).

  • wildhover I couldn't really tell if it was faster with the 5.1 x 4.5 prop they both looked pretty close. When I static tested them there was only 10 watts difference between the two. The 6x4 = 300watts and 5.1x4.5 = 310 watts. The amps were almost exactly the same at about 28amps. Guess I need to do some radar gun testing!!

  • Sweet! another speed run shootout to see which prop is faster. I think I will nickname your radar gun "the Judge," because only Judge Radar can pick the winning speed prop (you should also include brandorc's sport 6x4 prop)

  • Sounds like a good idea wildhover! Just might have to do that.

  • Sweet plane. I use same combo on lot of my park jets.. Great power setup and very nice build.. heavyer then i would have thought.

    BruceM

  • BMFoamy thanks for your comment! Both Paul and I have used this Suppo matched combo set on more of our planes than any other set up!! It really is hard to beat for under $30 and we have had great results! The Planes extra weight comes from the double layer of Henrys fiberglass weave that is the armor on this plane. This one will survive a crash at those speeds with little or no damage. Well worth the extra weight!!!

  • Man you guys look like you have this thing down to a science! Brilliant job!

  • Cool youtwoba!! It is getting a little easier making these EPP planes, now that we have made more than a few!!

  • Ohw man, I love it !!! The looks are fantastic, fast and furious :-) Keep those videos coming guys. Did you know that when you have more then 1000 subscribers that you can put longer videos on YouTube?

So to all the folks who love this channel, ask your friends to become a subscriber, that would be awesome !!!

  • insAneTunA thanks for plugging our channel in your comment!! I hope we hit 1000 subsribers soon! We will have to celebrate when that happens! Maybe I'll give a way one of my planes or something! I think that would be cool!! One that hasn't been crashed yet, lol!!! Our viewers and subscribers are Awesome!!!!!

  • WOW , love the plane but I'm a beginner and seeing you guys fly has got me HOOKED , hope to learn alot from you.

Do you have a vid that explains more on the Controller and set up.. one of your vids u said something about setting your controller to 60%

Any help will be of great value

    Jeff

  • Thanks vienna3109!! Glad you are getting into the hobby. It's a lot of fun when you first start scratch building. At first you start off not knowing a whole lot but after time and a few projects you'll get the hang of it. We haven't made any videos on how to set up a radio because there are so many different ones out there. It is usually best if you go through the instructions that come with the radio you get. They usually cover most things in detail.

  • Cool Brandon!!! We love surprises!! I may have to put my 3200kv motor on this plane after I get used to the way it flys. Should raise the bar a little in the speed department if it will stay in the air with the extra weight of the bigger motor, esc and 2250mah batteries. I already made sure everything will fit on the plane. Just have to widen the slot for the 60amp esc and she will be good to go, lol!!!

  • holy goodness docta jones, i think you're gonna need a bigger field! by the way, i got a whole bag of apc 6x4 "sport" props. i haven't tried them, but they are definitely different then the normal 6x4 apc prop. so i have a bunch for you and paul to try out. also got something else for you guys, but its a suprise for when i see you next! talk to you soon. -brandon

  • Nice plane Humphrey. How many do you guy's have now? It's great that they are flying true on the maiden flight's. Keep up the good work.

  • Sorry Mike we can't keep count anymore, lol!!! As for the planes flying on the first flight I would have to say we are having better success now that we have started glide testing them before we put all the components into the plane. It helps to know the correct center of gravity of the plane before putting it all together.

  • As always we love watching your video's as they are what most of us want that are getting into scratch building and man that baby was moving and eating up that sky ;-) 5*

  • Thanks startazz that really means a lot to us!!! Both Paul and I can't say it enough, We have the BEST viewers on YouTube!!

Thanks for the 5* too! The plane flys pretty fast as it is. After I get it all dialed in and get used to it I might have to try this other set up I have waiting for a plane just like this. I still haven't made it into the triple digit club yet, lol!!!

  • nice, that thing is super fast!!

  • Thanks rctestflight! The plane moves pretty well with this Suppo matched combo set. Can't believe it was only $30 for the motor / esc / prop adaptor / motor mount. I put a link in the video side bar.

  • thinner body and color sceem look real good!

  • mostangrypirate I agree!! The thinner wing has helped in the speed department as well as adding good looks.

  • well done Frank! super fast! and lovin' the color scheme! 5*

  • Awesome shaneeeeak!! Thanks for the 5* rating I feel like this plane turned out better than I was expecting and very fast for the power system it has in it.

  • Wow..how nice is that. A complete build and bonus flight all on the same vid! Nice job!

    RCcanuck

  • Thanks RCcanuck! I thought it would be a refreshing change from my long series of videos on the Build Along. Glad you liked it. Keep your great videos coming too!!!

  • i think the most difficult part is using the tape XD

  • HaiklHeaD the taping of the planes is a little difficult at first till you come up with a techneque that works best for you. It can also be the most time consuming part of the build.

  • I agree! Taping eats up a lot of time

  • as always awesome work and video !! congrats

  • Thanks for the comment HaiklHead! Stay tuned for more video soon!

  • Awesome I wish I win the July drawing because i dont have any rc electronics and I want to get into rc plane!!!

  • Thanks TakeoffPower!! Good luck in the July drawing! These matched combos are very affordable if you don't win. Check out the more info link the video side bar.
