Idealistic P***K, there is around 18 mill jobs related to leather, shoes and the retail business in general. Not to mention that leather is a waste product from cows which would have to be disposed of. Yeh lets destroy a few million lives so our feet can feel the grass.........
so the cultured Brit is telling us to use the footwear of the uncouth Arkansas hillbilly? Interesting. But experiencing the weather is as simple as just being outside, not skipping from the climate controlled house to the climate controlled car to the climate controlled....well, you get the picture.
you go barefoot for a while and your soles thicken like leather - can barely feel a thing. works for walking around, but not so good about 'feeling the earth'. nice idea tho
biggest con job of all time, now its called climate change, well of course the bloody climate changes, and has done so for billions of years. al gore has a lot to answer for, but of course its not about "climate" control its ultimatly about "people" control.
Nice idea, but sorry, I really cannot imagine myself now walking outside without shoes... Wake up, it's under zero and snow everywhere... I've got warm socks and wintershoes and still my feet are freezing!!!!
Wearing shoes do make my feet a lot tense.....i usually wear chappals which are way to comfortable than joggers and shoes when going outside and even in the house.....
I'm not barefoot very often, but when I do take off my shoes and socks it is a very enjoyable experience. I love feeling the textures of carpet, grass and floor with my feet. I also think Gormley's work is marvelous, he has very human ideas, which are also very abstract, plus he has impeccable technique.
I'm sure it'd be very practical to walk around bare foot in the snow. Then during the summer, the 'textures and surfaces' of dog poo, spit, muck, chewies... urrgh dont get me started
Its true though. If this is art, how about I got stand in the corner of the room and fist myself, then go on the radio and tell all the fellas to do it?
@annikee59 I cant seem to be barefoot for more then 30 minutes at a time without feeling extremely cold feet and fingers and then having them go blue. I have a form of 'Raynaud's' disease meaning I have a problem with a lack of blood flow and because of this I have to wear really at least a pair of socks 24/7 and I wear shoes as much as possible. Normally wear 2 or 3 pairs of socks in the Winter. Its a VERY annoying condition.
if i take my shoes off, i clear the room, looks like fun though, lol

There are much better ways to feel what's good to feel, or to be in touch with.
This idea is just playing around. Perhaps yearning to be like the animals, or for rich people who have nothing else to think about.
How about to feel more in touch with the world by living without any money or possesions? May THAT would be more natural!

It a lot cleaner here. I don't have many problems, only occasionally picking up a shard of glass. Its easily removed and I go on my way.

I often walk barefoot and sometimes step in it. I survived everytime. Much easier to clean than from a shoes treads.
At last maybe the prejudice might end. LOL

He should walk barefoot through East Vancouver. He could get a lovely syringe in his foot. That'd learn him.

But your probably allot healthier than most. We expel toxins through our feet and shoos prevents that.
