  • nothing can replace film quality... all professionals know this.

working example; i have a friend who sets up a shoot using a digital cam for the lighting and such and then uses a manual nikon with film for the final quality... and in truth, unless you can do a great shoot on a manual using film and then take it to the studio to develope it, then you are not really a photographer

the company just needs to get out of the common market and target professionals who still use film

  • Relax, times are not that dark, stop the hype man. Talk to the better galleries about the rising value of a hand made print, not some computer generated garbage. Then, attend Look3 / Festival of the Photograph in Virginia this year, lots of great work, great photographers and lots of work shot on film. I shoot both film and digital, always will, because I am not just another guy with a camera shooting pictures of leaves, I am a real photographer.

  • Asi, competition here.

  • The irony is that Kodak itself is facing bankruptcy and wants to sell some of its patents to stay afloat.

  • Better title: "Dark Times for Dark Rooms" ..thoughts? Questions?
