A murderer is a murderer. Taking the life of someone because you were frustrated about some harassment is MURDER. This boy is Columbine in a lessor form. Just be glad he wasn't upset with his teachers authority over him. After reading articles about his confrontations with Officer McKay and watching all the vids , there is no reason for his actions, other than childish rage. Some people just can't handle that someone besides themselves aren't in charge.
This kid is high. It is reasonable to suspect the kid was using drugs in that remote spot. The cop had probable cause to check him out. When you go on the offensive the way this kid did, it sets off a red flag to a trained police officer - it means the suspect has something to hide.
The cop just wanted to know who he was and what he was doing there. If he wouldve just complied he wouldve been fine. Liko should get the death penalty for being that stupid...
These videos clearly show a young man with sociopathic psychiatric personality disorder. Clearly, it is tragic that he could not have been treated. Maybe and only maybe the system failed. However, Officer McKay distictly maintained his composure and professionalism. God Rest His Soul. He is in a Better Place. Strength to the family and friends of both men. Liko Kenney was obviously a tortured man.
hey Moab, so what? the law here is that Cpl. McKay asked for his license and he had a lawful duty to produce the license. The references on the news characterizing them as, "having bad blood" is a gross mischaracterization, in my view. Liko Kenney, from all appearances requires some mental hygiene. It was Cpl. McKay who maintained a professional manner at all times. The negative things said about McKay is likely all B*llsh*t.
Not exactly... A detainment of this kind can only be executed after some articulable suspicious activity is observed. Parking in a public place, without more, simply does not qualify as "suspicious." The constitution was designed to protect citizens from exactly this kind of unwarranted intrusion by law enforcement. I'll grant you Liko's attitude wasn't fabulous, but his instinct was correct in that there was no reason he should have been detained.
See, now you are taking the law out of context...you ought to get yourself the Oxford Companion to the Supreme Court. There has to be over 15 cases on Articulable Suspicion Doctrine...I found it most helpful when I was in Law School...more foolishness, I am really enjoying myself.
The Burden of Proof is shown.. My advice.. If a police officer asks for your f n license, for whatever reason.. Give to him and shut the F up! CONCLUSION...Here is the full story.. "Liko Kenney, you're an idiot..The End" Thoughts out to Officer McKay.
True, but a photo ID is required to be certain they are giving their correct information. It is required by law, in the drivers manual that you must present the liscence and registration when asked. If they refuse, the officer has a right to detain until it is presented, and does not return it until he has the record and has found it to be valid. Drug charges were dropped and assault dropped, the sentence reduced to 15 days from one year.
Because as the law states if you are the operator of a motor vehicle you must produce a valid drivers license. It does not matter if Officer Mckay knew him or not. He was doing his job and he did it well I am proud to say.

Yeah but... Cpl. McKay already knew Lico very well, so why exactly did he need the license?!?
moab5583 4 years ago
to see if he had his license while driving. and to check if it's been suspended or if he has a warrant out since the last time he checked
badbobbyhughes 4 years ago 4
not necessarily... you can easily check a NH license status without the actual ID.

That's true..
What I don't really understand, is the sentence was reduced to 15 days by the request of Cpl. McKay.
