Now, it's been a few years since this happened. Honestly, I believe Jr. got the run and Vickers put a good block on him. Jr. had to move down under the line to not wreck them both, and I believe he may have thought he had lost enough speed in the process so that he would not hit Vickers on the way back up onto the track. That's my opinion at least.
Agreed. You also have to consider the conditions that day. Rain was in the area, and every lap after lap 100 was being run like it was the last lap. This happens much earlier, and odds are, that probably doesn't happen, but when you don't know when a rain shower will hit, and possibly end the race early, stuff is going to happen.

@NellisRFAgressor I think you're forgetting Atlanta of 2009: Vickers was battling Kurt Busch for the lead and was close to stealing the win before the caution came out, and his crew made a poor stop. Jr.'s not bad at all, but I think you also need to remember that Vickers almost was killed last year from a blood clot. A proper block is done with the rear bumper not the rear qtr panel. Block with your rear qtr panel and you'll get hooked every time. 83 at fault.

I will say that Vickers' block move may have been a little over the line (ha get it?) but that is no excuse to take out anger at EVERYONES expense. DaleJr is a hack
You can't blame the yellow line rule, its not like the rule just popped up and came out of nowhere. Everybody knew about this rule way before and during the race and you can't blame that for Earnhardt Jr.'s negligence at the wheel (a common theme these days)
I too blame the Yellow Line rule. If Dale Jr. were allowed to at least push his way towards the front, and then move back after returning to the track then this wouldn't have happened. I don't think it was intentional, or an attempt to wreck anyone, it was just Dale Jr. attempting to get above the yellow line but he tapped Vickers sending him into traffic.

I think what happened is that Vickers first touched Jr. in an attempt to block which I am sure caused Vickers to slow up even a fraction. The Drivers do let out the throttle at Daytona & Talledaga. They have to sometimes when going in the turns. The COT Creates a huge hole in the air thus causing the car behind to get a HUGE Run. Just look at Carl Edwards & Keselowski at Talladega. They lift before the turn as to not bump through the turns.

Now, it's been a few years since this happened. Honestly, I believe Jr. got the run and Vickers put a good block on him. Jr. had to move down under the line to not wreck them both, and I believe he may have thought he had lost enough speed in the process so that he would not hit Vickers on the way back up onto the track. That's my opinion at least.

Agreed. You also have to consider the conditions that day. Rain was in the area, and every lap after lap 100 was being run like it was the last lap. This happens much earlier, and odds are, that probably doesn't happen, but when you don't know when a rain shower will hit, and possibly end the race early, stuff is going to happen.

@NellisRFAgressor so now just because two drivers are not very friendly they are not allowed to block each other? vickers and jr were both racing to try to get their laps back, and vickers only wrecks people to win is bullshit, wayyy back in 2006 at talladega when he won he only clipped johnson with the tiniest bit of his bumper he cant even see the bumper from the seat in those old cars, and besides all of that vickers won at michigan in 2009 on fuel mileage

@NellisRFAgressor I think you're forgetting Atlanta of 2009: Vickers was battling Kurt Busch for the lead and was close to stealing the win before the caution came out, and his crew made a poor stop. Jr.'s not bad at all, but I think you also need to remember that Vickers almost was killed last year from a blood clot. He's not a douchebag either, he just always ends up on the wrong end of situations.

Im a jr fan and ill be the first one to admit this was 110% his fault. But in reality vickers had it comin. Vickers never should of blocked him knowing that him and JR weren't exactly best friends. He makes a VERY iffy block which is "legal". Vickers only wins by spinning people out. NOBODY respects Brian Vickers. "Vickers puts a LITTLE block on him" two tires under the yellow line is not a LITTLE block. Besides the 88's front qtr panel was there already when he attempted the block. A proper block is done with the rear bumper not the rear qtr panel. Block with your rear qtr panel and you'll get hooked every time. 83 at fault.

Vickers was just as much at fault as Jr. was; blocking him below the yellow line and then not letting him blend back into traffic like he's REQUIRED to do so according to the rulebook with SEVENTY-SEVEN laps to go? What did he think was gonna happen? I guess Vickers forgot about the fall race at Talladega in '06; of course he didn't think there was anything wrong with that, and he wrecked a teammate to boot!

@73optimusprime Vickers did the Talladega incident on accident. It was just a slight miscalculation on timing the jump out of the draft with Johnson. Also Vickers didnt wreck the whole field. Junior was a lap down, there were 77 laps left at a 2.5m track & Junior wrecked him in front of the whole field taking out most top contenders. I will say that Vickers' block move may have been a little over the line (ha get it?) but that is no excuse to take out anger at EVERYONES expense. DaleJr is a hack

You can't blame the yellow line rule, its not like the rule just popped up and came out of nowhere. Everybody knew about this rule way before and during the race and you can't blame that for Earnhardt Jr.'s negligence at the wheel (a common theme these days)

I too blame the Yellow Line rule. If Dale Jr. were allowed to at least push his way towards the front, and then move back after returning to the track then this wouldn't have happened. I don't think it was intentional, or an attempt to wreck anyone, it was just Dale Jr. attempting to get above the yellow line but he tapped Vickers sending him into traffic.

I think what happened is that Vickers first touched Jr. in an attempt to block which I am sure caused Vickers to slow up even a fraction. At that speed I don't think JR could react fast enough to back off in that fraction of a second. Not JR's fault. It's just racing. Maybe Jr. could have reacted and not come back in as he did but then it would mean slowing down & loosing position. Wrong move by Vickers.

@chasefluty no he should have let off the throttle and then got back behind Vickers. There was no reason not to. This was not a situation where he was about to be forced into the grass. It wasn't like Tony Stewart and Mike Skinner at Talladega in 1999.

The Drivers do let out the throttle at Daytona & Talledaga. They have to sometimes when going in the turns. The COT Creates a huge hole in the air thus causing the car behind to get a HUGE Run. Just look at Carl Edwards & Keselowski at Talladega. They lift before the turn as to not bump through the turns.

Dont get me wrong the move Vickers made was 100% legal but just the same 100% dirty. Yeah he is fighting for the lucky dog same as Jr. but that could have just as easily put jr out of control into the grass and he comes back up the track and collects the same cars. After getting penalized 1 lap for barely pitting outside the box (which should be end of the lead lap not 1 lap) and he was a little angry allready i dont condone that wreck but i can also understand it.
