  • gameboy version was the worst..until MK 4 came out for gbc...that was shit...

  • Arcade version is the best

    always is the best

  • "the only difference is......second (WTF) difference is........but that is the only difference...."

  • Important note: This video is really oudated. I was not collecting much game back and now today I know much more about the mortal kombat port. I will probaly do a remake of this video.

  • The Plug and Play is not exactly the same as the Arcade, but close enough if you never played the Arcade.

  • Nice done!

  • Ahh ! the game that introduced Government interference into the gaming world because they felt that kids would be desensitized to blood, Gore, & violence. Never mind the fact that the Game Doom was developed in part By the defense Department for this very reason. lol

  • @wingnut4427 Ive seen many report for that past 10 year that semeone killed another due to video game obession, but most of the time the police do not find any thing related to video games

  • @SuperDave341 i know. I've heard it all. What it all boils down to is that government has stuck it's nose into our lives & the way our children are being raised so much that When something goes wrong the blame needs to be laid somewhere. They do not want the public looking at them & saying " See what Your meddling has done!?" lol Back in the 50's they blamed comic books. in the 60's is was marijuana. in the 70's it was TV & rock music, & the 80's & 90's was MTV, Video games, & Marlyn Manson. lol

  • @wingnut4427 Well said , I complety agree with this

  • Nice compilation. Allthough..."Note: The DOS version is exactly the same thing than the Arcade Orginal"??? Oh God, please!

  • @pietjeprecies2109 I know its an old video, since then ive learn much more. I can attest that Mortal Kombat for the DOS CD Version is the closest version of any MK version. It is missing only a few voice , sound and animation. Mortal Kombat for the DOS Floppy version on the other hand is far from arcade but is still a good conversion

  • god i remember sitting on my couch as a kid and playing this version of mk 1 all the time on that puke green screen and i loved it, for some reason we were always behind as a family, i guess money problems, so i didnt get snes or sega till like 1995, and n64 and ps1 till like 1998, but anways i had the gameboy when it came out, i guess i was lucky that christmas but the gameboy was the stuff for me, that green screen didnt bother me, and they had some awesome games at the time.

  • most versions of this game are so shit. why would they even bring them out. wast of money , but the real version is awesome....... great graphics great blood. tha best

  • @jokerman693 i personnaly like all MK port,

  • the real version is awesome....... great graphics great blood. tha best

  • I hated the Genesis version. It sounded shit and looked worse. I mean, c'mon! Blue Scorpian for Sub Zero? Thats just freggin lazy...

  • i have the tv game version. its actually pretty good.

  • @Chizzlemania Me too lol. Other than midi sound and static backdrops, its close to the arcade version.

  • Didn't the Genesis version also have a blood code??

  • Awesome vid!

  • My friend told me that it is possible to play mk1 on Mobile Phone/ CellPhone (sorry i'm not english). Really?

  • @0Kitana0 I know one time they were announcing to do a port of MK for the cell phone in 2007, but I have never heard of this version after this annoucment

  • Sega all I remember is ABACABB!!

  • Ha, I love how in the pirate NES version Johnny Cage is taller then Goro. :D

  • @Bmovieking13 I don't understand why they have made Goro smaller when he is supposed to be 8'2 Ft

  • ABACABB on the "code" screen gives you gore on the genesis port.

The first is my favorite MK game at the moment but that's because I only have 1 and 2 so I guess I have no room to talk.

  • Yeah, if SNES was allowed to have blood it would have beaten all conversions in my opinion. But when you take out something that makes the game great, blood/gore in this case, people will like other versions better.

  • censoring has never made version of the same game better than the other : (

  • i got this TV version :D its the original Arcade game.

  • I also own that version (but much more later than the video) but i do not agree that it is arcade perfect. music and graphic are different (missing many animation)

  • Damn...this is back when there was no ESRB system.

  • Did sega ever used the ESRB system for their genesis game or they always used the original one?

  • @SuperDave341 I think they did around the time when the 32x came out

  • I've played MK1 on Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo and Arcade.

Sega's cool because it has kick ass music tracks and includes the stuff from the DULLARD code.

Super Nintendo may lack blood and gore, but sound and graphic wise it's more authentic to the arcade version.

My favorite would have to be the arcade version because it contains the best of both worlds (Sega and Super Nintendo).

I also played on Game Boy but it's nowhere near as good as the Sega, Super Nintendo or Arcade versions.

  • @Nicksolo85 The Genesis version could've been better, in my opinion. If you look at MK2 and MK3 on it, they are much loser to the arcade version than MK1. In my opinion, I don't think that MK1 came to the genesis' true potential.

  • I personnaly think that the GEN version could have more voice than the scratchy one. The sega CD version could also have been better. It is the same as the genesis version with the arcade music. The graphic in this version could have been much more better (closer to the SNES)

  • I really love the game boy version of MK1, but I suspect is much more because of nolstagic than anything else (Because i remember playing MK1 with a friend on the game boy (Link cable battle)). This version is of course the worst of all conversion but even that I think this game is good if you have the patience to play this (because hte game is pretty slow and there is a big lag time for special move)

  • The music in the Mega Drive version is far superior to any other version, even the Arcade version. The drawback is that the visuals are slightly downgraded. I have no comment on the other versions, other than being impressed by the MS-DOS having the most faithful port. The rest are what they are because of memory limitations, and there is no need to play them.

  • I personnaly think that even thought the music may be better than the arcade port , it is not faithful at all. (Althought I do agree that the Genesis version music are really good)

  • Which is why I reckon that other features suffered a bit because of it.

  • Comment removed

  • Great Bit of nostalgia.... MK was all the rage when I was a kid in the 90s

  • this is not complit . ??? Amiga , ??? Pirate Japan? !!! no Pirate Russian

  • this is not complete because I do not own these version and there is little information about it (Specialy the pirated japan game)

  • The SNES version, IMHO, was the closest thing to the retail version in terms of quality.

I didn't like the fact that they got rid of the blood, but I did like Rayden's and Sub-Zero's modified fatalities.

    Excuse me... "Finishing Moves." :p

    Damn soccer moms.

  • Fatality 100 000

    Finishing Bonus 100 100 XD

Johnny cage censored fatality may be one of the most ridicoulous fatality I have never seen in a MK game

  • I had it for the gameboy, game gear, master system, mega drive and snes. The snes was my favorite cause it was the closest version to the arcade.. graphics wise ofc.

I want to buy the original cabinet now but I can't find it anywhere in europe.

  • i personnally think having an original MK machine cabinet is the holy grail for MK fans

  • The MK1 handheld LCD version was released in 1993 and the Tiger Bardozz version was in 1994, but i could be wrong

  • this game is the shit

  • I played all versions and in my opinion the sega cd version was the best. it had amazing sound. epic fmv opening video and it was arcade perfect including uncensored gameplay unlike the snes version. no blood codes were needed either.

  • my favorite version will be alwasy the SNES version because It was the only version of MK i had at the time iwas a kid and I was playing it to death

  • yeah the nostalgia plays biggest part. I used to play it on master system and really like that version although looking now back on it I have the sega cd version as I find it to be the most arcade perfect :)

  • mortal kombat 1 sucked on the gameboy and gamegear but it was good on every other console nice video 5 stars

  • The Sega CD vertsion also does not require a blood code, i'ts unsecsord from the start

  • yes it is true. Only the GEN and SMS version needed a blood code

for the SMS it was pressing the button 2 , 1 , 2 , down, and up during the text intro. I don't remember the one fo the GEN thought. The SNES and GB version was totally censored

  • there are two ways to activate "blood" on the Genesis/Megadrive.

first method : press a-b-a-c-a-b-b at the "code" screen (the yadayada about "the word code" you see when you swich on the console.

the second method is by execution the DULLARD code in the main menu (Down, Up, Left, Left, A,Right, Down) .

when executed properly you see a third menu where you set a number of cheat options including the blood switch

  • thx alot for the second way to get the cheat , I didn'T remembered it

  • i had mortal kombat 1 for sega, it was the first game i played.. only problem was no blood on the sega version but its all good

  • blood code, lol. ABACABB on the "word CODE screen"

  • mortal combat for the 64 was the best!!!

    so much fun!!

  • there 3 MK game on the 64 , witch one?

  • hmmm

    were there numbered?

if they were im pretty sure it was MK3

the one where you fight the centaur guy second to last.

  • oh this is not Mortal Kombat 3 but Mortal Kombat Trilogy (Witch is MK3 UMK3 and many stuff from MK1 MK2 all in one). The second game was Mortal Kombat 4 and the last was Mortal Kombat Mythologie, Sub-zero

  • There's mortal kombat trilogy, mortal kombat 4 and mortal kombat special forces.

  • mortal kombat special force was a playstation exclusive

  • Dude, you're soo right. My bad. THe other one was mk mythologies!!!!

    I'm stupid. lol

  • MK:SF was also going to be on the N64, but cancelled.

  • yes MK Special Force was also annonced to the dreamcast and to the GBC, but because it didn'T sold very well only hte ps1 was done

  • i think he ment mk4

  • lmao at goro on the NES pirate version.

  • Check my video- almost all fatalities from MK1 (missing one or two glitched fatalities from arcade) including Reptile's

  • MKI is really a legendary video game :)

  • button mash :D

  • after all thru my opinion i've always thought arCade versions of the MK's were better.. i never really liked the graphics and all thru the systems except for the genesis and what not.. and also i liked the song on the Gen version too. at the beginnning lol

  • Even though there wasn't any blood, I still think the SNES version is the best port, much more superior than the Genesis version.

  • En e MK Sega Genesis Version, habia un truco para jugar SIN CENSURA, a diferencia de SNES version.

  • Ive just understood what you say but I don't even talk that language! Yes the genesis version featured a code to uncensor the gameplay and SNES did not. Rumour say that the genesis version sold much more than the SNES version because of this discovery

  • Exacto, ese fue un factor importante en las ventas.

Exactly, that was an important factor in sales.

  • This may also be the reason why the game gear version sold more than his gameboy counterpart also

  • Probablemente si, pero no puedo opinar mucho de las

versiones GB y GG, porque no las he probado.

Probably yes, but I can't say much of the

GG and GB versions, because I haven't tested.

  • actually there is a code for blood on the snes version! i've used it! and the snes still sold more than the sega version just so you know...but good video anyway.

  • Until you prove me , there is no existing blood code for the SNES version of the game it sold less than the genesis version because of that. The only way to have blood enabled is using a cheat device like the game genie. To date , there is ABSOLUTLY NO WAY to do the arcade fatality on the SNES

  • Mortal Kombat was Nintendo's biggest mistake ever-even bigger than the Virtual Boy. At its core, Mortal Kombat really isn't a very fun game. The fun is in the blood and gore. It was new and different and it gave kids the feeling that they were getting away with something when they played it.

The bloodless Mortal Kombat game gave Nintendo a reputation for being "for kids". It's a reputation that they are still trying to shake even today.

  • I was 6 when it came out to the Arcades, and then got to actually play it on my Super NES by the time I was 7.

By the time I was 8, I got a Sega Genesis for Christmas in 1994, and shortly after, I got to play that version as well. Although, the music USE TO frighten me as a kid, but it until I got over it years later.

I got the Game Gear version by my 9th Birthday, and then got to play the GameBoy version sometime about Fall of 1997. And by 2004, I bought the Jakk's Pacific version.

    MK1 ROCKS

  • wow i remember my bro had a tiger handled of Mortal Kombat II, good old days

  • I know I don't own a Sega Genesis, but I need one!

  • there were way too many damn game systems. i was only 5 when this game came out so i never heard of Amiga til now

  • since they were a ton of system and personnal computer between 1982 and 1995. Because of the PC and windows 95 , almost all computer video game system were dead and because of the NES en 1985 and the ps1 in 1994/1995, it killed almost all other system of its time

  • lol in last one sub-zero its a rip of scorpion ( becaose of the battle stand, sub-zero has his hand on the chest)

  • yes the genesis version is the only one that sub-zero has the same stance as scorpion. Its funny because the less strong port (Sega Master , Game boy and game gear) has his true stance. I don'T know why they did that thought

  • i like ya vids i think ill subscribe

  • thx : )

  • I played both these on my SNES & MD recently (both through RGB) and I found, personally, that the SNES version was the best. I have always thought this, however, there was always the 'blood argument'. Simply because the SNES version didn't contain blood, it was crap! Fair enough, there was no blood, but I always found the graphics were better and the gameplay (If MK1 has gameplay as such) was superior too. After recently playing them back to back, this strongly reinforced this for me.

  • Yes, the SNES version was almost destroyed because of the censor. But still , its an awsome port

  • why were they still making master system games in 93 isnt that when the mega cd came out

  • I don't really know why , but the Sega master was still popular in europe and ALOT in brazil. Did you know that game production stopped in 1994 in europe and 1997 in brazil?

  • hey m8 on the sega genesis aka megadrive version on the writing text where it starts the word code enter A B A C A B B u will have gore/blood enabled good vid btw also on mk2 i know the code cheat for that too

  • well I prefer a code I can remember more XD. The DULLARD code is much easier for me as I can acess all the cheat IINCLUDING the blood one

  • dude ive got that handheld version, the LCD one. it was pretty good, my mum got it for me when i was about 10. infact its REALLY good for what it is.

  • it must be : D

  • no blod on genesis version!? why??

  • well you can toggle the blood kode with a cheat code

  • There was a spectrum version too, it was no threat to the console versions though.

  • The spectrum version was a beta , so I don't consider it

  • It's true that the Genesis and CD ports are similar, the CD port has better background detail (there is blood on the pit bottom and Goro's lair even more than the arcade), better music, and more frames of animation. CD port is the best port of the game excluding the loading times.

  • for me , just the fact that the music is arcade quality but the CD port close to the nostalgia SNES. Its just my opinion thought

  • SuperDave341, the gameplay on the SNES version is far different from the arcade. The combo system is a lot different and the vulnerable uppercut after a combo was gone. The controls are also unresposive. The Genesis and CD versions have more faithful gameplay and more responsive controls.

  • like ive told you in the MK2 compilation , nostalgia make me want to play the SNES version. I don't think the control are unresponsive, it control very well. But its true that the GEN and SG CD got better control

  • This looked good when played on the Super Game Boy.

  • ive got a sega master system and im in australia

  • I do have it also and im from canada, quebec

  • better then the snes but the arcade is superior

  • The arcade is certantly the best , I don't know many game that are better on console than the arcade, the only exemple I have is Doulbe Dragon III on the ARcade and the one on the NES

  • Or another example would be the NES Contra being way better than the Arcade Contra.

  • yes its true ,contra and Super C are better on the NES than the arcade. I forgot these one !

  • i always thought megadrive version was better

  • The Sega CD version was the best port of its time. The gameplay is the closest to the arcade.

  • Well the Sega CD version is simply the genesis version with arcade music. Althought the arcade music is really good, most of the stage dont got thier good music. the DOS version (not featured) is an arcade perfect port. Althought the SNES lack alot of important thing (blood and fatality) it has the most arcade like graphic/gameplay.

  • Not to mention load times when fighting Shang Tsung.

  • Oh my , it even load shang ? just like his playstation/saturn mk3/umk3/trilogy counterpart? Thx for the info!

  • Nice Vid{ Man !°

  • What? No blood code?

  • I just said the samething

  • No I didn'T used the blood kode on all the sega version. the SNES and Game Boy version do not have blood

  • You forgot the Plug n Play Controller thing.

  • the plug n play is actually the Jakk TV version ( witch is number 7 in the video)

  • I STILL HAVE MY SUPER GAME BOY!!!

  • thats kool. ^^ and yes mk4 is awesome. i got the street fighter alpha anthology. comes with all street fighter alpha games.

  • mortal kombat 4 is good also, It was one of my only playstation 1 game at the time , with the jet moto serie

  • oops. sorry i didn't know. u like street fighter also right?

  • The Street Fighter Series Is nice also. My favorite game Is and will always be The playstation version of Street Fighter Alpha 3 or the capcom v.s. marvel or snk. But Mortal Kombat is number one for me because Mortal Kombat 1 was my first game on the SNES and Mortal Kombat 4 was also my first game on the Playstation. Its fun and nolstagic

  • i didn,t play part 1 on snes. but parts 2 and ultimate 3 are kool .^^ u should try them

  • Yes I got all these game and im enjoying them alot

  • thank u. ^^ its because i used to have parts 2 and ultimate part 3. on the snes. and also i mostly grew up with street fighter. but mortal kombat is my favorite game also

  • ya the series is still awsome today but the first one are better in my opinion

  • kool video. and also thats how the opening of mk1 for the snes goes. (when goro hits the akklaim logo) or is it a cheat? just asking. cause i know when u play mk 2 on snes when u hold L and R shao kahn and kintaro will be next to the akklaim logo. so goro appears in the logo at part 1?

  • Yes goro does normally hits the akclaim logo without any cheat. It was a special intro :O. I remember being freakout by goro when I was young

  • There were two Tiger electronic LCD's. You missed one. The second one was a barcode based one, and of much higher quality then the standard one. If I can find in my garage I will take a picture of it for you.

  • Thx of the info

  • Flashback! we would play this (amiga version actually) at the office back in early 90's. Never really mastered the controls (I recall it had to be played with just one button or something) but it was fun nonetheless :)

  • Ive never played the amiga in my entire life. This system seems alot important. I should try to get the system and explore de game

  • I think they have emulators for it. You might as well emulate it nowadays since Amiga is dead. I don't think the fanboys are even around anymore. (They were around for a damned long time still using it after Amiga closed up shop and everything too.)

  • try amiga emulators. amiga was/is an amazing system

  • You missed only 1 version of MK, there was a rare Windows PC version of it, it was available on eBay like 2 weeks ago, I tried to win it, but failed.

  • really? I thought the DOS version was the PC version. thx for the info

  • a i remember the sega version some mothafucka always used to chosse sub-zero and beat all my cuzinz by just frezzzing them over and over again. lol

  • awsome cheapness isn'T?

  • True, the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis version was censored. But, it also had a blood code just like the Game Gear port.

  • Yes this is true, the SNES version wasn't giving this option but I found graphic and music to be superior. Since ive grow up with that game, its surely the best SNES game I have back

  • i STILL know the blood kode sence i was in 3rd grade it is,A,B,A,C,A,B,B. ab a cabb lol thats how i remenber it

  • The best: 1-arcade 2-genesis

  • And there was actually a Johnny Cage in MK1 Gae Boy, but it was through a game genie code. Anyway, great video, Dave.

  • Thx you Returnofgse9, and yes Johnny Cage is not avaible in mortal kombat 1 game boy but you can play as a weird version of him throught gameshark. Cage use all sonya sprite and can do special move but only the computer can do them (ive tryed many possibility but it was not working)

  • I would say

    1-Arcade

    2-Super Nintendo

    3-Genesis

4-Jakk TV (TV plug) (Its a unique version of the game

    5-Sega Master System/Game Gear

    6-Sega CD

    7-Game boy

The game boy version is the weakest version ever but even thought it is last in my favorite version its still one of the better game for game boy

  • I would say

    1-Arcade

    2-Super Nintendo

    3-Genesis

4-Jakk TV (TV plug) (Its a unique version of the game

    5-Sega Master System/Game Gear

    6-Sega CD

    7-Game boy

The game boy version is the weakest version ever but even thought it is last in my favorite version its still one of the better game for game boy

  • how does Sega CD rate lower than Genesis? Was gore removed and DULLARD taken out?

  • Its primaly reason was the load time. Since the sega genesis and the SEGA CD version were exactly the same except for music and sound, it was unnaceptable

  • The best: 1-arcade 2-genesis

  • ok..you have every version except......MORTAL KOMBAT DECEPTION PREMIUM PACK!!!!!!!COME ON MAN! THEY HAVE MORTAL KOMBAT 1 ON THE BONUS DISC! ! ! ! ! !

  • I own it,The only one Im missing is the Sega CD Version.I need to specify that I am talking about the original version and not compilation or bonus item like the deception prenuim pack

  • ohhh okay then. sorry but great video!

  • Thx you dude! Mortal Kombat Is awsome!

  • bead bead bead

  • dead dead dead

  • I had mortal kombat for the gameboy when I was little. that game was hard as shit but i loved the music for that time period. 1996 not now

  • ya it was the best looking game boy game at that time but its also the weakest version of MK1, still fun tought since its the second version Ive owned

  • this game also came for tv games too, i own a copy of a MK1 tv game

  • Ya me too I own the TV game 2 time so I can play 2 player, I didn't included a video about that version since I did the video when I was not owning the TV game

  • ah just because I thought my UMK3 was all glitched. Im happy that im not the only!

  • Well, superdave341, sometimes yes, i see, but i never put some value in that (i played most of times in master pillar, it´s a little difficult)... why?

  • You have both versions of mk 1 (for snes and genesis) in video game, not emulator! COOL! I have UMK III for snes and MK III for genesis, i don´t have another versions of mk... great video!

  • thx you! But I want to ask you something about your UMK3 for the SNES. While you playing, can you see sometime weird slow down like the background moving up in down for 2 sec or other glitch like that while in normal play?

  • I can't understand japanese , korean or chinese eyeofthekom

  • 穂w度用度ふぁいたぃちえs

  • BIG WILL yeah during the video i forgot to put blood on on the genesis version.

Note: They is no blood code in the SNES version

note2: I could say that Mortal Kombat 1 could be on the NES but this would be probaly the most scaled down version of MK (Except Handled LCD and maybe the game boy version). But im sure it could play fine and at a good speed like in the pirate MK

  • FAIL

  • u didnt enter the blood code in mk1

  • ALL NES FAN BOYS EAT ME! Look at that Mortal Kombat running on the SMS 8-BIT machine!! Nintendo's 8-Bit couldn't come close. Unfortunate for SMS that Nintendo were lawyer/contract crazy or else SMS could have seen great 3rd party games that NES could only fuck up on their machine.
