Horror faced and despair overcome ... Peace and forgiveness do take place. Bit not in pink. Real Life has a greyer shade of pink. One of the reasons i love this film.
I listen to the grievances of black South Africans when whites are allowed to discuss the epidemic of rape being perpetrated by black men against all women - of all ethnicities - in South Africa.
How about let's see a film showing how white Afrikaaner farmers are being slaughtered by blacks? How about we talk about how the Arab Sudanese are slaughtering black Christians in Darfur. Let's not forget about the Hutus and Tutsies slaughtering each other in Rwanda.
Could someone tell me why is the little boy huging that guy who murdered his parents infront of his eyes?? why is he huging him?? and another question
what role does singing and music play to the people in the movie?
When we forgive evil we do not excuse it, we do not tolerate it, we do not smother it. We look the evil full in the face, call it what it is, let its horror shock and stun and enrage us, and only then do we forgive it.
Lewis B. Smedes
This movie perfectly illustrates the theory of Professor Philip Zimbardo :"The Lucifer Effect". How do good people become evil?. It's on You tube.
I would love to see this movie. I am reminded of what Leonardo DiCaprio said in "Blood Diamond". "Sometimes I wonder if God will ever forgive us (Blacks and Whites in Africa) for what we did to each other, then I realize, God left this continent long ago." As I said then and now, God never abandoned Africa, nor has he left any continent where his children dwell for that matter. If you want to know why I say this, read the Book of Job in the Old Testament. God does not abandon. People do.
You are absolutely right. Also read the book of II Samuel. God says they have not rejected you Samuel in asking for a king they have rejected me. God does not abandon and reject we do. God allows us to experience how worthless and useless life is apart from him. That is why evil exists.
they claim black africans are barbaric but they in turn put a gun in black woman's vagina and shoot her because they claimed she was threat to national security, well maybe white people when the set foot in africa they were africanized as well but who is babaric
This is an amazing film! Its even more poignant to me now that I'm in a human rights and conflict class--its a look at the hard truth in the world--a must see--for anyone!
this is one of my favorite 'true story' movie brilliant acting on both parts from both key actor/ress. They fought like cats n dogs then ended up in u know where but thats not the moral of the movie. Its a must see !!!!kwaheri

"Long Night's Journey Into Day" was a doc about the TRC. I admire the commission's attempt at reconciliation rather than revenge.
But the Whites are suffering anyway. The Apartheid laws, written in their favor, are gone. Now they're competing with everyone else.
