  • Why would you try to blow it up while people were there? If the injured guy died, I hope they gave the owner a death sentence.

  • I heard that Gigi's was a meth lab...

  • Peter H. Ladias, 70, of Palos Hills surrendered June 25 at Will County Jail in Joliet. He is charged with felony aggravated arson in connection with the Oct. 29, 2008 fire that gutted Gigi's Restaurant and Pancake House. Ladias is the owner of the restaurant.

  • Almost two years later, the whole strip mall is still closed. It doesn't bother me, I'll just go to Plainfield's Delight a mile down the street.

  • i used to go there!!

  • u guys are from naperville??

i remember driving past that on my way to a buddies house and being like wtf... whys it all boarded up? now i guess i know why.

  • i remember when this happened. my friend was crying because this was his favorite restaurant. did anyone get killed? i hope not =/

god damn it was a good restaurant i hope they rebuild it.... was this on the news? i'd like to see this.

  • the owner tried to blow the building up on purpose for insurance money....i dont think it will be re-opening

  • one of the guys suffered extreme burns and is still in the hospital. if this guy dies, the chef will be charged for man slaughter and will go to prison.

  • Well when you attempt to blow up & then burn down your own place for insurance money...They should of had a "Plan B" like maybe this is a bad idea and the State Fire Marshall is a very smart guy & will figure it out? WOW!

  • just seen it on the news(abc7) they said it was arson due to traces of gasoline... nice job todd.

  • did I say I believed them? I just was saying, there were a lot of rumors.

  • looks like you were right...appears to be a case of arson..doubt anymore saganki will be served..unless it comes from statesville

  • That was a saganaki like opa! Sad, great place, hope they rebuild, most important the 2injured critically are going to be ok in time and that is the most important part. God bless and please reopen, love the breakfast there.

  • Well, I'm not real sure what happened, exactly, I live in that neighborhood, and there's are so many rumors as to what happened, the first one I heard was a gas leak, and the most recent one was that the restaurant was bankrupt and the owner blew it up, because he didn't want to have to deal with filing bankruptcy, and now the owners going to go to jail after he reovers, these both could be lies, but if that's true, he's ruined the lives of 2 people.

  • yea he tried to blow the place up..those dam saganaki bombs

  • What was the name of the person with your grandfather ?

  • That right there is my grandfathers resteraunt, his friend was the one air lifted, pushed him into some water thats what saved my grandfather's life, theyre both still hospitalized, god bless them both.

  • How is your grandfather doing? I worked next door at the salon. I have been thinking of your family in my prayers.

  • Hes doing well, nothing life threatening, the hardest part is keeping him from knowing what he looks like at the moment.

  • Nice coverage for quite an explosion!

  • Dam what a powerful explosion. I hope all of there people make a speedy recovery!! As always good footage TS!!

  • Damn, gas leak? Tiss the season. I sure hope the rest staff get better soon. Was it an oven that popped? Those pizza ovens can be a pain.
