he's wrong if you want to do anithing the sony a33 is always better than the nikon d3100, the video is better and the ISO on the sony goes up to 12.800, and sony has a betterprocessor and of course sensor. better lcd, 100% coverage wiewfinder......... and looooooooooooot more....

The Lens is ok and gets better than average reviews. As for Carl Zeiss lens you'd have to add a 1 to the front of the price if it was! I own one. Only draw back is the Mic is awful and pics up the internal motors noises and is tiny overall. Apart from the that the camera is awesome! Especailly 3D panoramas.

I ordered A33 few days ago, and it will arrive this afternoon. In fact, I am buying A33 for my wife as a surprise/gift. Can't wait to see her reaction when she sees it on her desk ! You prob upload from imovie.. Don't because I movie doesn't support 1080p so there therefor you need to save it to your desktop then upload to youtube :)

For episodes shot from now on only with the A33 they will be in full 1080 HD. In fact, the last episode of TechKnowledgey already was.

Well TECHNICALLY, even if the translucent lens lets in light on the focusing and the image sensor and the same time it still is a DSLR.

By the way, there is a microphone accessory for all Alpha cameras on the Sony website for $149

And that mic is WAY overpriced and on to short a cable. I found a better one for cheaper.

@KidBajan But not continuous autofocus during video as well as this one does. Either way, for photos, Canon or Nikon win, but for video, Sony has always been the best. That's what they shoot movies with!

I'd have gone with the A580, but if video autofocus was so important then this one is the best for you. If you wanted to do serious photography though, the A580 would have been a better choice. The moment you really start enjoying your camera and start seeing the benefits of a DSLR (well yours is almost one) is when you buy your first telephoto lens. I have a 70-300mm and it's a whole new world of possibilities. BTW, DOF is best controlled with f stop (Aperture) not focus.

@Arekuzu Well, this is for all intents and purposes an SLR. Just newer tech behind it. TECHNICALLY it's not, but it does the same thing. BUT, I really went with the Sony for video. Let's be honest, they do that the best. I'd have gone Nikon or Canon for photos. More of a video guy though. I wouldn't even put money into lenses for this camera. I'd rather get another for true photography one day.

And yes, I am aware of the f-stops for DOF. Still learning this all!

@GLFREDD It's meant to take a second or two. Totally normal and it's not that it looks bad, thats the way it's supposed to be and always is. And a T2i would not fix that problem. it'd just be worse because there is no auto focus continuous during video mode.

@Ace1749 Save money for the 7D. It has a bigger sensor, in other words more MP (megapixels) And it's just more of D-SLR better weather proofing and better build quality. That's just my two cents.
