When I played this on the Genesis the background was so poorly rendered that I thought I was simply flying through the icy ring system of some alien planet, instead of there being a full-on fleet battle in the background.

hmm. it looks like i was wrong about the namco logo being in Hiromi's "flight leotard", but at least she looks slender in the arcade version
