German Class

I took German in high school, but I didn't take it to learn it. I took it because 4 years of a language was required for college. All I learned was enough to pass the class. What good does knowing German give an American who can travel 500 miles in any direction without the language changing?

Not all American schools are bad. Everyone just gives us a bad stereotype. I'm not saying we have the best schools ever but it certainly depends on which part of America you are from. Oh and most American schools give you time in the beginning and end of class because usually the teacher needs to gather everything for class first. So all you people from anywhere other that America that are stereotypical assholes can GTFO.

Yeah well I will ask some of my favortite Germans if thats was their experience.

I have heard plenty of stories about "teachers" in German gymnasium who throw a book at you and tell you to read, then call it teaching. My fiance also sat in on one of my US college classes and found it to be much more interesting than the average German university class.

The point I am making here is that your education system is not better just because you had a good experience in it.
