i am right along with you. i agree wholeheartedly. "waking up to who we really are". i got sober in 2009. i too experienced disaster and out of chaos came clarity. i used to be a "truther" and i agree that now is the time to concentrate on creating something new and valuable for the new earth.

Conquering (nature or each other) wasnt what we needed to do in the first place. It should have been about living in harmony with. I agree with you that we need to wake up to who we really are, but like houndogsteve, I think the only way to really do that IS to look at the past and some of the negative that is happening now. We need to understand that what has been happening hasnt been happening "to" us. We have been complicit all along. And you are right, we do need an internal change.

Here's what I find amazing, though...we have finally brought ourselves to a point of awareness where perhaps some major change is possible. From my perspective, though, it will happen one by one by one--rather than through anything on a policy level.
@AwakenSafely I disagree Jacob, and here is why. All that "individualist" stuff is really part of the problem. Human beings are social creatures. One of the more social animals on the planet. And moving in unison, (singing, dancing, working, marching) does something profound to us. Being a physical expression of our oneness, it unites us and "realizes" oneness in a way that sitting around meditating solo simply cant.
This is borne out by science, and Plato and others wrote of it as well

1). I mentioned the need for collaboration & cooperation. Yes, from my perspective, a big reason for the current malaise is the isolation most in modern civilization experience.
2). My real point here is that the journey is an inward thing. In other words, we can't wait for government or religion to fix external stuff

I personally am just perplexed by those who believe that to manifest outward, you first need some clarity within. The line between "outer" and "inner" is imaginary. Many feel they must be happy "inside" to contribute to happiness "outside," when contributing to happiness "outside" is a fine way to "inner" happiness.

Some values will never get old. Ones like treating others how you like to be treated. Has long has we work together for a good cause we can improve life but we must remember that there are those in high places that do not want this. They will eventually fail because it is a self defeating system.
You said that you don`t want to rehash the past and we all know what is happening now,my concern is that should we forget totally the paradigm that the past was founded on, we would be doomed to repeat it,we are a point like no other in that we actually have enough documented history and world wide,real time,communication to see that we have repeated this scenerio many times now,I for one don`t want to go through it again! I think we are about to become Rural,Agricultural,High Tech Society.
