  • i got the solid state spider 3 120 watt.... i want a 212 spider valve..... fuck solid state

  • did you put the tube in by yourself? is it complicated to put in a new tube or should a newbie to this, like me, be able to do it?

  • Preamp tubes are easy, just pull it out and put another in. The power tubes are harder and take some knowledge. They have to be biased and that involves taking the chassis out and using a multi-meter and a small screw driver. This is dangerous because there is enough voltage in there to kill you if your not careful!

  • hahaha, i thought this was mark tremonti at first, same hair cut and everything, pretty good at guitar as well :)

  • I love this amp~

  • This is the best amp I've ever owned. I've been playing for 21 years and never got closer to the sound I hear in my head then with this amp. I love presets & tubes so this is the best of both worlds. It's as if I'm running a high quality processor through a boutique amp into a vintage speaker with each one balanced to work with the other by someone who knows what they're doing. I watched this video like 100 times and it is what convinced me to buy it. Thanks bro.

  • Glad I could help you in your decision! I hope you like yours as much as I like mine! Jared

  • Thats directly from Line6

  • Absolutely! The Spider Valve combo amps use two 12AX7 tubes in the preamp section and two matched 5881WXT (6L6) tubes in the Bogner-designed valve power amp section. These amps are not "hybrid" amplifiers that use solid-state circuitry to amplify the tones produced by tubes in their preamp sections. It goes without saying that Reinhold Bogner would not put his name on a product he was not extremely happy about. (We're excited too!)

  • The spider valves are"NOT" hybrids what so ever.

  • Are you saying its full tube or all solid state? Part of the signal is digital thats why some call it a "hybrid" I think with the SVpre its all tube no doubt.

  • your tall, and i thought the spider valve's pre-amp was (Correct me if i am wrong) digital? killer tone bro

  • I guess you could say that the preamp is a hybrid. It has pre-amp tubes but part of it is still a digital signal UNLESS you have the Strymon SVpre, which makes it all tube. I have it in mine and it makes a very nice difference!

  • like it! can you explain (mabe on video) how you actually change spier valve tubes. i think it's rather complicated (the vias thing etc.). would be of much help, becasue im thionking about a change for my sv as well. thanks in advance!

  • sounds fucking killer!! I was wondering what is the best buy: Randall - RH100G2, or Line6 Spider Valve 212?

  • hmmmmm ..... tuf 1 there ... i would go for spider valve my friend .. but randall are still fantastic amps... check my spider valve test vid on my page .. its better quality u can hear amp tones better :]

  • dude..nice\m/

  • SETTINGS!??

  • EVERY1 !! the best metal tone is -------

    set to the 'metal' channel'

    DRIVE at 3.30

    BASS at 3.00

    MID at 10.00

    TREBLE at 3.00

PRESENCE at 4.30 (up to u really)

i have had this amp for around a year and that is the best tone i have found so far

  • sounds great.... what setting are u using...

does eq helps in getting that power crunch sound? responds will be greatly appreciated :o)

  • What tuning is the guitar in and what settings is the amp on? Sounds amazing!

  • sounds like Drop C but i could be wrong :S

  • dude if you got the cash get a couple of british made mullard ecc83/12ax7 (not the russian crap ones). You can still get used ones w/ halla life on them fairly cheap. hands down still the best preamp tube ever built.

  • AWESOME TONE DUDE.

which one do you think is better?

the flextone III or the spider valve?

and how much are the pre amp tubes that you

swapped in? how long did you wait before chaging the tubes?

  • Well, I havent played the Flextone so I really cant compare them. The tubes I put in were right around $12 a piece. Since making this video, the Sovtek 12AX7 crapped out on me and I ended up putting the stock one back in. The EH 12AX7 is still in there. I had the amp maybe a month before changing them. I like to tinker, I never keep anything the same LOL

  • I have a flextone III and it sounds good , But !! the spider valve is in another league! i just picked on up a few days ago it sounds so much thicker and has way more sustain, this demo sounds a little muddy but not bad could be the guitar.

  • %***** from me and a sub and a friendship request bro...this fucking sounds great after the tubes right now.... did you put them in and in what order are they in sovtek first or the eh first

  • I have the Sovtek in V2 and the EH in V1, so the EH is the one affecting the tone. I am going to play around with it some more and maybe try a couple more 12AX7's.

  • WOW I own this amp it sounds nothing like yours WOW no biasing for pre amp tubes huh

  • Really? I have heard some of your clips and thought it sounded great. The video changes the tone a good bit, it sounds better in person.

  • Nice. Sounds very thick and heavy.

I've heard that the Spider Valves really like JJ tubes also.

What kind of pickups are those on the guitar?

  • I have heard that as well, I might have to try some when I get the chance. The pickups are stock, they are made by Duncan for Ibanez. I actually really like them.

  • JJ's which ones I want to redo mine

  • KennethRMullins - JJ's which ones I want to redo mine.

You want to buy the JJ/Tesla ECC803S. It's an

R.F. double triode 12AX7 designed specifically for high gain applications. I've heard they make the Spider Valves really sing. Tube Depot sells 'em for $15 each.

  • I'm on their website right now as we speak thankx man..retubing as soon as possible no biasing needed or what

  • KennethRMullins: I'm on their website right now as we speak thankx man..retubing as soon as possible no biasing needed or what.

That I don't know. Had my Randall RH50T retubed with Mesa Boogie tubes. Preamp and power amp. But I had it done by a local shop. I'm pretty sure they had to adjust the biasing. Best money I ever spent. Made an already good amp great.

  • No biasing needed for the preamp tubes. If you really want to make sure your amp is getting the best tone it can get, check the biasing of the power tubes. I did it myself with a multimeter, you just have to be careful! It should read right around 35mA. I have mine set on 38mA.
