@yuriwriter I thought that the scruffy cat and the fancy cat were both named Heathcliff but I was wrong. It seemed like a mean thing to do--to confuse children in that way.
@eruption257 Those two are HORRIBLE All those show beat the shit out of Regular Show and Adventure Time. Those two shows are some of the worst yet period. Get your head on straight before talking about anything on Cartoon Network anymore.
@AChamblee831 80s, 90s and 2000s all the way. Heathcliff, Inspector Gadget, Ghostbusters, Thundercats, Smurfs, SMBSS, Oldskool TMNT, Beetlejuice, Denver the Last Dinosaur, DuckTales, Kim Possible, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop, Mega Man, Clarissa Explains It All, Girl Talk, Tazmania, Batman Beyond, X-Men Evolution, The Spectaular Spider-Man, Iron Man Armored Adventures, Sonic X, All Grown Up!, Spongebob Squarepants, Lady Lovelylocks, Rocko's Modern Life, Dora, DBZ Kai and Diego.
Was Heathcliff the only cartoon character you grew up with that was totally badass? I mean, he always ended up beating up some fool who pissed him off.
@genestarwindjf80 The reason is unclear, but some suspect that the McNaught company who owned Heathcliff did not want any outside characters appearing on Heathcliff. Riff-Raff and Cleo were primarily invented by Jean Chalopin and Bruno Bianchi, while Hector, Wordsworth, and Mungo were created specifically so they could appear in either series. The only time in which Heathcliff and Riff-Raff appear on-screen together is in the end credits, when Riff-Raff snatches his hat back from Heathcliff.

This is without a doubt 1 of the very best cartoon intro songs ever imo, along with Denver the last dinosaur, darkwing Duck and a few othrs. Just totally awesome
Other than both of them are orange cats, I don't see how they are the same. Heathcliff is a street-wise brawler while Garfield is a lazy, spoiled house cat. But I do agree; Heathcliff is better. <3
Goddam it!!! Sorry I just realized I got Garfield & Heathcliff mixed up. I meant to say Garfield RIPPED OFF HEATHCLIFF, not the other way around. Sorry.
@kobun37 He's actually right: Garfield's been out since the 1970's (first as a comic strip in the newspaper), and then as a cartoon in the early 80's/mid 90's.
All I know is I'm exploding with child hood memories. Shit I haven't thought off for 19 years just popped into my head just now. Wow. Btw, catchy intro toon.
What surprised me most of all is that I recently found out Chuck Lorre(creator of Two and a Half Man, Mike and Molly, Big Bang Theory) worked on this show as one of the writers; lol live and learn
