  • NO THE BRIDGE IS A PIECE OF CRAP!!!!

    By the way......

WHO HAD THE IPOD FIRST YOU RTARD?

  • @MrScoocks The iPod was first on a mac, but we had many many mp3 players and jukeboxes before Apple came on the scene. We're talking innovation, not a specific product.

  • "hahaha take that" apple

  • fuck pc!

  • WILL YOU FUCKING SHUT UP ABOUT THE GOD DAMN BRIDGE!

  • After using both for many years I can say that Apple wins hands down. This video doesn't compare the operating systems or user experience at all. Is Apple perfect? No, but it blows away PC.

  • And the funny thing is that this is all just a marketing plot so you can buy their products. When you buy a PC and it becomes slow and corrupt, they'll bribe you to purchase their various tools to "fix" your PC, earning them profit from simply convincing you to buy a PC in the first place.

  • @OwlMovieStudios

a year ago I bought a $400 hp with better specs than a $1000 macbook. I spent another 100 on microsoft office... it runs great, no slow down. another 80 for an auxiliary wireless mouse and keyboard. 20 for a high speed USB hub... $600 and I just have to plug in when I get home and the laptop I work with at school becomes a desktop at home. my computer has to constantly adjust it's settings automaticaly and I have no problems. does the $1000 macbook even have a video out?

  • People hate what they don't understand.

  • One question. When did 10/100/1000 NIC cards come out for PC? Macs since 2001.

  • @arekdaset Gigabit Ethernet CARDS have been available for PCs since they were introduced, dude. And that wasn't ALL Macs, just the Power Mac G4 and the PowerBook G4.

  • I should of said integrated. MAC wins PC loses. Dude!

  • @arekdaset dedicated NICs > onboard NICs any day, but whatever.

You're a moron. Gigabit Ethernet wasn't even widely adopted until around 2004-2005. Having a gigabit NIC is useless if all your switching gear is 10/100 and all your wiring is Cat5 and not Cat5e.

    Moron.

  • @thebsdguy Your the only moron here because you fail to grasp the point of my comment. You said it 2004-2005 PowerMac G4 since 2001. No matter what machine had it Mac had it earlier which just says it was more advanced at that time. Your a lame dude. This just means while your paying money to upgrade your machine I'm not. Go buy yourself another PC while I keep my 2001 PowerMac G4. Still out running your GHZ machine. Getting worked up yet?

  • @arekdaset lol, you think your old Power Mac outperforms an i7? Get lost.

And only two Macs had it at the time, not the whole line. In other words, your argument means shit.

  • @thebsdguy "In other words, your argument means shit."

I been thinking that of yours since your first reply.

  • @arekdaset You're the moron that brought it up in the first place.

  • Macs have their purposes, final cut, photoshop, after effects are nice programs. While most of them can be put on a windows I can see why its the main defense for mac users. Macs also since they are rare in the terms of percentage of the market most hackers ignore them creating viruses for the more common windows for maximum damage. So Mac is a great computer for certain "risky searches" where viruses may run rampant.

  • You failed to mention that mac's will always be the choice of graphic designers, movie directors, and bacically all forms of media

  • That too.

  • "its cool to make money, you should try it sometime"

Yea Apple holds roughly 30% of the total revenue in the computer industry as well as holding 91% of the premium market share (which is there the highest performance machines are).

This video would be ok if it weren't for the fact that you are comparing desktop tower systems with the iMac presumably. When you compare like form factor - the PC equivalent is about the same price. Sony's all in ones priced from about $900-$4,000!!!!

  • the immaturity in the comments in these video comments is extremely annoying.

  • good job backing up your opinion.

but i don't understand the whole bridge thing...

  • Fuck yea! take that apple!

    Macs suck!

  • your fukin stupid hehe wow

  • finaly someone who rants mac down top the bodem grate video windows 91 procent of the market !!!

  • English fail.

  • UNIX is great , you have no idea LOL

  • HEY MAC user

    in YOUR FACE HAHAHAHAHA

    BOOT CAMP???

    noob

  • 100000s applications that dont work on pcs. 100s applications that you can do your WORK on Macs.

    So stupid you are...

  • only EXE can play on windows

only DMG can play on windows

  • I just remember how stupid YOU are. You forgot that Mac refers to hardware and not Mac OS. So in plain words you forgot every Windows app runs on a Mac by using Windows through BootCamp. People who say Macs can't use Windows software forget they say the hardware when they say "Mac". If the hardware can run Windows, it can run any app that it meets the system requirements for.

  • it seems that you have mysterious wake ups though !! Visit a psychologist for that. It might help!

  • Shut up you notice I meant early Mac computers. You know. Back to iMac G3s? I had to use them for 5 years until my new school had G5 iSights.

  • windows is getin borin and is starting to copy mac osx with windows vista and 7

  • YAY WINDOWS

  • wow. If the number 1 computers on college campuses are macs and when all the mac users go into the business world they will bring their macs with them. They may have to dual boot for the beginning of their career but when they move up to the head of a company they will want macs causing a higher demand for macs causing more software to be developed and a price drop in macs. Apple has always been innovating and it costs money to develop new technologies. So wait 10 years. You will be using a mac.

  • but they wont make it that far considering the fact that they have to use windows~

  • What is the thing with this bridge??? Do I wanna have a bridge? Wait....NO! How boring is his life to do such a crap...there is more software...wow...I hope he knows that Mac do NOT need so much software to run...it simply runs...

  • Lol noob

  • I would love a Mac but i am not a millionaire. The crapest computer is 1200 dollars???????? Srry MAC with these tough economic times YOU LOSE!!!!!!!

  • actually the cheapest mac is $600, so you lose.

  • yes but its crap, so i wouldnt get it

  • Buy a mac mini for 600$ and don't through your money every year buying HP, Sony, and other crap ;)

  • Holy shit. This guy manages to be more annoying than any Mac fanboy I've ever met. And most of these comparisons are made up! I was IMing on a Mac before 1999!

  • And wait a second... you guys are making fun of Apple for lagging on implementation of MP3.... but then you show a picture of an iPod. The heck?

Not to mention, if Macs really are that much more expensive, would'nt that indicate that Mac users have better jobs, rather than being unemployed?

    Geez, tech fanboys suck ass.

  • Yes, it would indicate that, and if you think about it, most of that price comes from the bulletproof materials (the polycarbonate on the Macbooks), the glass (iPhone, iMac, MacBook Pro, the list goes on), and the aluminum casing part too (which is expensive because of being lightweight, durable, and elegant). PC users get steel (SOMETIMES) and plastic which makes them heavy or just not very durable. I don't know of any notebook that uses aluminum and glass other than the MacBook Pro.

  • Glass is heavy, try letting your iPhone fall, it'll brake into pieces, let alone shoot it with a gun xD

And no, the only reason for price diference is because there's a little 'Apple' logo on it that means Steve Jobs recieves all your money,

  • some macs run on windows, maybe yu were useing windows?

  • you know what every one says

the only people who hate mac's don't own them

  • YES. The only people who hate Mac either don't own one or used the EARLY EARLY ones.

  • Or didn't ever heard about it until last year, tried it without any biase, and developped a profound hate for it during an entire year of use of it.

  • godd but how about comparing performance (altough i use pc and never used a mac fro long)

  • I don't understand what you're getting at. I don't think many people would argue against your thesis that Macs are more expensive. People buy from Apple because of the quality of their products. I mean seriously, when do you ever hear someone say, "I'm glad I switched to Windows, I will never go back to Mac". It doesn't happen. Hondas, like Windows are ubiquitous, but does that mean that a honda is a higher quality car than an Acura (Mac)?

  • Ah no you don't understand what I mean. I bought an Alienware desktop for close to 9K so I'm not about cheap, I'm about getting the best I can get. Indeed you are right when it comes to computers but then again the most common misconception is that people buy computers that are cheap, while true is not entirely. People tend to buy computer more for specific things; like work, school, home, games, programming, benchmarking and so forth. Those who buy computers to save money are fools at best.

  • Nice video, but I must disagree. You can have windows on a mac! debate over. it doesn't matter what software that is exclusive to windows -- because you can have a windows on a mac. I used PCs since I was a kid. Got a mac about a year ago...I will never buy a PC again. I ignorantly used to debate mac users simply because i couldn't afford a mac at the time. It may be a little more expensive, but it's worth every penny. I've had my macbook for a year and it has never crashed once. period.

  • You have to pay more money to put Windows on your Mac, which means basically anywhere from $200-$400 for the software. You still have to pay more money for it

  • That's not true. You can run windows on a Mac via Boot Camp, which comes built-in with every Mac. The only thing you have to purchase is Windows. Well, actually you may have a point...the cheapest version of Vista costs $199 (which is extremely overpriced). The point is that you can run Windows on a Mac. I don't, and never will, but I have the option.

  • True then again on Amazon Vista Ultimate both 32-bit and 64-bit versions and sell for close to $200 estimate. So it's a lot better than just that; and I already knew about the bootcamp thing and whatnot. The thing that bugs me though is that in order to use their OS I need to buy their computer or go through a shit load of stuff to turn my computer into a hackintosh which is what I'd rather not do.

  • Good point, but you have to remember why Apple doesn't allow OS X to run on non-Mac computers - because they want to ensure that their OS works seamlessly with the hardware that's running it. Think about it: why wouldn't Apple want to make their OS available for PCs, they'd certainly be making a whole lot of money; they don't do that because it goes against what Apple stands for. Thus, they do it to maintain quality and customer satisfaction.

  • I doubt anyone really know's what their intentions are for not setting their OS free. To me it seems like a waist of potential. I mean from my knowledge that every other OS, including Windows, Solaris, Linux and so forth are not locked down, and the only OS that is; is Apple's. The real problem with a new OS is a new Kernal System not being handled correctly; this is why Vista and XP had a hard beginning.

  • Since Apple is good with working with the people that make the Hardware, they could always be in close touch with the other hardware vendors; make sure to be friends with them and keep them updated and so forth so they could make sure their OS works. This is what Microsoft to me seems to neglect the most. But one of the prime reasons for me not getting a Mac is the lack of intent of the company to announce updates. Microsoft announces them all the time; so why shouldn't Apple do the same?

  • You've made several good points that I won't attempt to debate. I clearly wasn't thinking about the fact that people buy computers for different purposes (lol).

  • It's quite alright. When it comes to computer's (as my understanding of them are on hardware basis) a computer's main function in excelling in specific tasks have to do largely with the hardware. Here's a few examples here:

    Non-media business purposes: Dell

Media Based Work: Mac or Sony

School laptops: Toshiba, Compaq, or Mac (the Mac brand depends if its media based)

Extreme Computers: Alienware, Voodoo, Nvidia, Custom Built OEM's.

I'm pretty sure that's about it.

  • And no worries man. The thing is, is that if I ever get into video editing I would be more inclined to try and find some good software out their for it. I mean I know their are some PC media based editing equivalent software that rivals if not surpasses the Mac's Final Cut Pro, and Aperture along with Garageband (The Sony Vegas Family is by far an example to this).

  • What I meant is that most people use the browser for almost everything anyway which both Macs and PCs have. So, if you have money and want a more stylish, nicer experience it makes sense to get a Mac - otherwise the PC is fine cause its oh so cheap.

  • I think in general Apples are way smoother, nicer machines, but way more expensive. The one thing I will say is that while Windows has more applications, most of them are crap, whereas all necessary apps are on the PC.

  • You are forgetting that to develop on the Mac, you don't need to spend any money. XCode, Dashcode, GUI Builder, and many other professional developer tools come FREE with every mac and OS upgrade. Also, Macs come with iLife for free. In order to make this comparable "Apples to Apples" you would need to factor in the cost of developer tools and and a iLife replacement. And are you forgetting which platform had the first GUI? That was the Apple Lisa in 1982. Microsoft didn't have a GUI until 1985!

  • You make some good points, and I do think that both Windows and Mac OS are great platforms.

But, if you'd considered the creative professional market (read: TV post production), things wouldn't be quite so one-sided.

  • The pc users that has released this video has lost their mind watching bluescreens.

    1. Windows vista is not for business. Company are refusing to adapt vista and microsoft has extended the downgrade period until 31 july 2009 (Hey pc users why a business man should use an os 7 years old, with tons of security holes?).

    2. Free software. Mac can ran 90% of linux software (So pc user are you still convinced that there is more free software on pcs?)

    3. Windows has virus mac doesn't ...no space left

  • $999 is the cheapest apple computer?

Or was this comparison constructed before the Mac Mini was released?

  • mac mini was not shown because its $600 for basic and comes with no mouse no keyboard no speakers, and most importantly no monitor, witch would cost you an extra $400 for mac....

  • What do you mean it would cost an extra $400 "for mac"?

You can buy those peripherals and the monitor from almost any other company. USB mouse & keyboard, and a cheap LCD monitor wouldn't cost all that much.

  • $800 pc a dell monitor comes with an lcd that costs $440, check the BestBuy adds.

  • awesome video dude!

  • I believe that Macs get less viruses because virus-makers don't bother to target them (due to small market shares).

I'm willing to say that Macs probably are better than PC's in some areas.

Just as I'm willing to say that Mac users are the biggest assholes in the world.

  • you forgot mention that mac don't have any virus' and if you want you can run windows on macs, with a lot more better apps that make macs bettr. so fuck you macs rock

  • It is fun tomake money you should try it sometime i laughed so hard at that

  • I bought a pc and i regret it.lol. windows vista fails miserably in comparison to mac os x leopard. Macs also come with good sound cards and can hold more ram. I can also run windows xp (most stable windows os) on a macbook, yet i cannot do this on my hp laptop...go figure

But if all you need is the internet and microsoft word, a pc might do the job just fine for you.

  • BS, my friend bought a $12 sound card not on-sale just cheap one and it is awesome. they dont hold more ram a AMD or Intel motherboard can get around 8GB they more expensive get 16GB and the really expensive 32GB so STFU.

  • exactly, and you don't see people building their own macs, because you cant get a $150 cpu on ebay for a mac, but try this , Intel quad core extreme Q6600 only compatible with the pc-2.8ghz cpu X 4 and easy overclock.

  • Apple is more expensive in some ways, but there stuff is way better

  • no.

  • This spoke nothing of build quality, quality of software available or speed of the system as a whole, all it discussed is the raw numbers available.

As anyone knows, just because the processor is the same does not mean the system is.

as for software, woot, you get PRINT SHOP PRO and other walmart toys.

  • Perhaps win is better for business because it is a convention, and it is deff better for games (but who cares other than gamers?) but for many other applications, apple produces rock-solid multi-platform machines whose build quality and price is comparable to high-quality other PC manufacturers such as SUN, Sony and IBM. Notice that the prices of these manufacturers were not on the list.

Apple to Apples, no, not really.

  • its cool to make money you should try some times haha i love windows. best movie ever.

  • Also if you take a look at the pricing of mac software out there, its a lot cheaper.

For example Vista Ultimate is $400

Leopard is $129, and Vista has half the features of Leopard

Lets look at shake, before apple bought it it was selling for 3000 dollars, apple reduced the price to 499.

FCS, the best movie production suite in the world (mac only application), just $2000.

Not to mention the savings on AV Software (dont give me that avg free crap, couldnt catch a virus if one pissed on it).

  • All these OEM companies are fighting for marketshare by bringing out cheap sub 600 dollar computers, there all identical and all as terrible as each other. And the profit margin is nothing. Wonder why Dell are going to the dogs?

Apple is making the most profit of any OEM company, not because there overpriced, but because they sell to the right people. For example if you take all the computers sold for over $1000, 65% of them are macs, does this not prove people only buy pcs because there cheap?

  • And if you want proof of the 65% statement just PM me.

  • This video is a joke. Add all the stuff needed to atually make your pc functional, bluetooth, wireless n, gigabit, firewire 400 and 800, an os, a decent multimedia suite like ilife, antivirus software, you know all the stuff that comes standard with macs, then tell me your price again.

Did I mention Vista is a POS?

80,000 apps for windows, and 70,000 of those are anti virus applications or a bunch of useless trial software crap. Or MSN emoticon packages aimed at your usual dipshit 14 year old.

  • Oh, you forgot, the most viruses!

  • Most of the free windows software are viruses.

  • LoL... OK PC Pitstop guy, try moving around 10+GB raw video footage from drive to drive or over a network with Vista and see how long it takes. I do professional video editing and I have not seen one PC on any production floor of CBS, Time Warner, 20th Century Fox or Universal - but I do see Mac Pro's in every one of them. Oh, I did see PCs at the front counter of some of those studios though.

  • I agree, lots more free Windows software than for Macs. Virus's and worms. Oh, and those endless Microsoft & Virus software updates. Yeah, PCs rule

  • Cheap PowerPoint user Windows sucks dick

  • This Video has many good points

  • It doesnt matter now. You can install on Windows on a mac. So have your cake and eat it too. But do it alot better on better hardware. Apple is the ONLY option to consider in buying a computer .

  • Macs are a LOT more expensive than PCs.

    I spent £600 on my E6750 3.6Ghz, 8800GT 512MB SC, 4GB DDR2 800Mhz, you'll spend twice that, probably more on a Mac with worse hardware.

    Enjoy.

  • Not when you get viruses, you have to pay for data recovery after the viruses erase your hard drive.

  • Umm, I've been using Windows for a LONG time, the only time I had a virus was when I first started using computers, which was easily solved by installing AVG Free.

The day Macs are not overpriced and people bother developing software for them that can be used for anything but video editing is the day I switch to a Mac.

The only people that buy Macs are people like you, fanboys that believe the crap Steve Jobs tells them.

  • I am NOT a Mac Fan, it looks like you're a PC fan and what crap has Steve Jobs told us?

The majority of Windows users use Anitivius software, whether its free or not, it slows down the system because it needs to check for viruses in real time.

And, I'm a Windows and a Mac user, so BURN.

  • And its running the biggest excuse for an operating system in the world, congratulations.

Its cheaper because its CHEAP shit, theres no such thing as overpriced, you PAY for what you get.

  • Haha, what? You must be deluded - there IS such a thing as overpriced, it's called a Mac.

    2GB DDR2 800Mhz PC RAM - $30

    2GB DDR2 800Mhz Mac RAM - $600

Oh and FYI, you only get viruses if you're an incompetent moron(The type of people who use Macs).

  • There is no such thing as Mac Ram and PC ram. You can use normal PC RAM in a Mac. Get it from somewhere else. You don't have to order from the manufacturer.

  • 1. Thats server RAM for the Mac Pro, not the dogshit $30 generic ram your talking about.

    2. You can just buy the RAM off crucial and fit it yourself, there is no such thing as Mac RAM.

    3. The reason ram from apple costs so much is because the huge amount of testing it undergoes, and the labour involved.

If the most incompetent person in the world (you) were to use a Mac, I doubt you would be able to get a virus onto it accidentally.

  • Yes, I am incompetent - I write code in C++, C#, Lua and BlitzMax, I built and maintain(Requires very little of this) my own computer(Do this with a Mac), I do a little 3d modeling and Realflow work, I play lots of games(TF2, GMod, HL2, Crysis, COD4, Thief, Oblivion, X3).

What do you do on your Mac?

Play the very limited selection of games, edit images/videos and do some 3d modeling - Exciting!

  • Mac sucks. Agree with my friend Hagrid.

  • Wow really, did I ask for your life story. Better go tell your boss to hire someone else if you can't look past the hardware and see what else you get with a mac. You don't get a stripped down computer, you get the full package, not to mention a OS that doesn't suck. If you don't want all those extra features, stick with your PC, but if your going to come on here and make stupid biased comparisons then I'm going to shit all over you.

  • Sure, you don't get a stripped down OS, you get a locked down OS with very little software support. I am not biased, you wouldn't consider using a PC if your precious Mac only video editor moved to Windows. You're a fanboy, plain and SIMPLE.

  • I know I am. Whats your point. The difference is, unlike you, I'm a fanboy on the winning team

    Very little software support? Bullshit.

Again you talk about macs as if the only reason anyone owns one is for video editing. And you assume that people buy PC's only to game. PC gaming is one of the nichest markets in the entire industry for starters, no one makes a sweet dime of PC gaming except the developers, not even Nvidia and ATI with their constant price war.

  • Thats my favorit. Apple has all the nice packaged software. While M$ was sentenced to remove applications of its OS, to let other sofware developers live. If Macs ever be so widely spread as PCs was 5-6 years ago You can kiss your full package goodbye too...

  • If you were offered a $2000 mac or a $2000 PC, which one would you take?

Exactly, PCs are for people who can't afford macs.

  • the pc...

  • the PC

  • the mac... trust me.. i would rather have the fast mac with imovie, iphoto which are way better then windows movie maker. And with Safari as my internet program considering safari is way better then internet explorer, then again what internet program isn't?

  • The mac hands down

  • You're not taking into consideration the screen resolution, graphics card,or included microphone, webcam, or quality of speakers.

Also, when it comes to free downloads of software, how many of those applications are you or anyone you know willing to use, of those, how many are simply the same thing re-skinned, such as the billions of re-encoding softwares?

  • Hey, sick fuck! Do a little more research when you make terrible videos in the future. Windows has more applications, because literally, the majority of them are worthless. Mac actually have developers who want to make applications that work, look good, and serve a purpose. You also didn't take into consideration what a Mac runs as its OS. If you buy a PC you get one of the many flavors of the rotten Windows platform, preloaded with fucked up software to begin with. Macs will prevail, you fuck.

  • Everyone has there own opinion and i think my iMac Alu 20" 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo is at least 5x faster than any PC i have ever used. OS X runs faster and better than the windows OS ever

  • the problem for windows is...macs actually work.

  • pc works better

  • You keep telling yourself that LOL

  • Wow, I'm blown away by the ignorance displayed from this video... This guy seems to think quantity = quality.

Can't believe I wasted 05:49 of my life...

  • Okay, so when your mac breaks down, what are you going to do then? Make a movie to re-build it?

Do you honestly think your mac would be little more than a high-tech paperweight without somebody who is wriing the program? You're a user, not a developer, that much is obvious

Lets see you make money without having to rely on a programmer on the most basic level.

  • Yes, because Linux=awesome.

  • This video was so biased and incorrect. Price? First off the info was not correct but even if it was, Gee I can buy one machine that can run EVERYTHING including Win or one that runs just Win. Also, it has been proven that the cost of ownership of a Mac is cheaper than a PC. In the end you WILL get what you pay for! Software? Great lost of choices but how many of them are crap? The majority I bet! Technology? Shall I make my list? Bet it would be MUCH longer.

  • Linux has more support for drivers than a Mac. So I could buy a Windows PC with the full works, run DirectX10, dual boot with Linux and benefit from thousands of software decisions.

  • Well it all depends on what you or the end user needs I suppose. I personally have no need for for DirectX10 so it is a non factor to me and millions of others. BUT since I DO have Windows installed natively on my Macbook, I could run it as well as Linux in addition to OSX if I wanted or needed to. Games? I get my game fix on my PS3 and 60" High Def TV. Drivers? Historically, Mac has required less drivers to operate third party Pherifs than Win. i.e. MANY things worked without them at all.

  • Actually Mac is mostly compiled of Apple software so there isn't much benefit to getting a slightly different bit of software. Macs need drivers as well, if not more because they are not as supported, PS3 is good for gaming but FPS's just feel that much more comfortable on a keyboard and mouse (PERSONAL OPINION!).

  • To each his own I suppose. To me the fact that a Mac is compiled mostly of Apple software IS indeed the benefit. A machine configured with hardware by the same company who is making the OS and software FOR that hardware WILL indeed run more smoothly. Then IF I need something Windows only, well I can do that to if necessary. Drivers, yes in some cases but others, no. I have MANY times just hooked something up and it just worked without installing anything.

  • First apps aren't always a good thing, especially with Apple software...ugh. Also Apple didn't make the OS, it was made with the technology of FreeBSD. That hooking thing would usually be a device so popular that even Linux can run without installation.

  • So you are saying that you think Apple's software is bad? if so please explain which ones, why and how much experience you have had with them. Just curious. Also, you mentioned about the device being so popular that even Linux could run without installation. Here is a recent one. My Brother had a 8MP digital camera. He could NOT use it on his PC without the drivers installed. I connected it to my Mac fine without them. Just one example of many.

  • iPhoto: inferior to Photoshop or GIMP. iMovie: '08 is a piece of shit. iDVD: Ooooohhh, it can play DVD's. Final Cut Pro: Professional but too damned expensive, same for Aperture.

  • You are not seriously comparing iPhoto to Photoshop are you? They are 2 completely different apps for 2 completely different uses. Photoshop = photo editing, iPhoto = digital photo organizer. iMovie is great for it's intended use. simple, basic video editing for an average user. Yes the other two are for professionals and BOTH are fantastic programs. Price Final Cut express is $200, Aperture is $300, FC Studio is $1,200 and you get 6 pro level Apps. All sounds reasonable to me!

  • You also failed to mention how much experience you have with them but considering that you think that iPhoto was somehow intended to compete or even be close to the same program as Photoshop, I am guessing not much. There is no way that someone who has used both for more than 2 minutes would ever think they were for the same thing.

  • Oh, one more thing I just realized I missed. iDVD is NOT for playing DVDs. It it is for designing and authoring them. Also a fantastic program for it's intended use and audience. I do not think that it even plays DVDs as you said. That is done with a separate DVD player. Again, I think this proves you are speaking with no experience with any of these Apps.

  • Oh yeah? Well....you're ugly!

  • Well this is an intelligent reply. I really should have expected nothing less. Next time do not be so ignorant to trash something publicly you know nothing about. Or at LEAST have the intelligence to do a little research before you speak. Maybe you will learn a little something in the process.

  • All I know is that for £800 I don't even get a DVD-Rewriter or 2GB of memory.

  • I can't even really reply to that because I do know how much £800 is or translates into U.S. $. Nor do I know how the price structures compare between the U.K. and the U.S. In the end, by all means you should use what works best for you. I think a PC is a fine choice for many reasons as is a Mac. It is up to the user to decide. But a Mac is in no way inferior, especially now that it can also run Windows 100% natively.

  • I guess for editors of media Macs are a good choice but if someone wants efficiency or a computer for everyday use then the PC is better. £800=$1600.

  • I still think that is a huge generalization based on an old stereotype. A Mac is just as good for everyday use than a PC. Efficiency? I am not sure there is anything more easy or effieient than a Mac. My desktop is almost 6 years old and I am STILL able to install and run the latest OS. Try installing Vista on a machine that old. Plus, Vista is one of the more un-efficient OSes ever built. 15 Billion lines of code = Slooooow

  • Sorry LessthanJake14, This is "DaveTV2" I have 2 accounts and sometimes forget which one I am logged in to! Not intentionally trying to make you feel like 2 people are replying to you! Just me! : )

  • Unless I am missing something I just looked at the 20" iMac including both 2GB RAM and DVD-RW and it comes out to $1,650.00 which is only $50 more. Here are the specs: 2GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB 320GB Serial ATA Drive SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW) Apple Mighty Mouse Apple Keyboard (English) + Mac OS X Accessory kit 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB memory 20-inch glossy widescreen LCD AirPort Extreme Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR
  • Wow, equates to my Dell XPS but with NVIDIA 8800 GTS. Keep in mind products are much more expensive in Europe than USA. To us it's not so great value.

  • Yes, I understand there are a lot of differences between what is happening in the U.S. and the U.K. That is kind of why I was hesitant to even go there without knowing more about it. All I can go on is what is happening over here which is in recent years the prices for comparable hardware are very close. I think the rep still exists because they do not offer a low end $400 model or a $250 laptop deals like you find on Black Friday.

  • Like what devices? Obviously, AIO Printers probably need drivers for some specific functions, but printer drivers and camera drivers come as an option on the install disk.

Plus, you can change the OS of the language in real-time.

  • Fucking wow.

It's been 5 months. Necroposting FTL. I don't care anymore. Mac OS X is fine.

  • ahaha pc's do have a million more things to download than mac's....however everything i will ever need to download is available to a mac...and i dont even have to worry if my next download is going to crash my computer!!!!!!!!

i hated macs for the longest time but i finally bought one last year and i will NEVER buy a pc again!

  • You get more productivity on a mac hands down. No Viruses, No Spyware, No Defrag, No Patch Tuesday. Sure the business industry uses windows xp but they'd save on IT if they did switch to macs. The entertainment industry uses macs and their not hemorrhaging money. The quality of Cocoa written apps are almost always superb. Sure if your a gamer you would want a pc but for the average user who wants hassle free ease of use go with the mac.

  • So why would you want to get some more half butt program for cnet anyways. You need to look into more than just prices and what it is good for. Macs are not even comparable to Windows for business work anymore, and now it is starting to go into education. We are one of the first schools to switch and now there is 3 other college going to start to follow us. You cannot tell me that they are becoming less into education. You need to be more correct on your information next time. (END)

  • It takes forever on a PC. Trust Me. I know. Also, are college now is completely mac based. You cannot find a Windows unless you own one. Also, 15/16 "Free" stuff for PC are not what I would called "Games". I would be to scared to download them anyways. They just take up more space and slow down your computer. Also, when you get a new windows computer, you have to spend the first month uninstalling stupid programs that come with the computer, and updating it. (Next)

  • You are so wrong. First off, I am a business major and going into accounting(majoring) and computer science(Minor). I can prove to you that macs are 10 times better than a PC for business. They do not take for ever to load on 1 gig of memory, try that software on a PC after you have had it for 6 months compared to a Mac. (Next)

  • so one sided. if i was looking for a way that mac is better, i could find sources to prove that too

  • Price, software availability, usage in the business world are ofcourse areas that PCs excel in. But how about comparing how many viruses each one contracts. Or how many customer service calls are made for each. What about the applications that come stock with PCs and macs. Macs cost more than PCs, but by the time you have bought all the additional software you need for your PC, you end up paying as much as you world for a Mac that comes with everything you need. Fair game.

  • yeah you have 10X more software, but 90% of it sucks, all good buseness software is available for mac.

i know with the growing number of mac sales your customer base is deminishing, but dont spread lies.

  • also macs have a longer lifespan; so you buy 1 mac vs 3 PCs... where are your saving now. macs sales are going throu the roof because people finaly figured out even on PC you get what you pay for.

  • if yyou really go to dell or gateway sites and build a PC with the same exact configuration as a mac, ad camparable software, and include cost of IT support, your PC will cost more money (even with no support)

  • and of course this comes from a PC tech guy. lol. need job security?. i can make a nicer looking chart than yours, but that still doesnt make it true.

  • What the?????

Great idea lets save money and run windows but. . . I dont like how virus checkers slow my pc down so I wont run those!!

Run your winblows machine with no virus, malware, adware or any ware checkers for a year, infact I will be glad to grab all the viruses I can find on the net and send them to you (remember no virus checkers!!)then we will both double click on them.

And lets not talk about vistas buggyness!!!

  • You do Know that Macs get viruses too, even OSX? There are good anti virus tools out there that don't mess up your system and/or don't need to be installed. 99% of viruses don't actually damage anything on your computer and most of them are just marketing scares designed to make you buy anti virus software. At least in British law there is a loop hole in software licensing that gives vendors the chance to download "software" onto your pc without your consent.

  • Yes, i know that Mac OS X can get viruses.

there are 40 of them; 30 are for mac os 9 so doesn't affect mac os x.

5 are for mac os 10.1,2,3 so with tiger apple fixed the bugs.

to get a danger mac os virus you must log as administrator and there is a probability of 1 on 1.000.000, too -.-

  • Even if they do, there are a low number of viruses and, there is 1000x less chance of getting a virus on a Mac than there is on a PC.

  • so you are scared to get a virus... that is why we use antivirus software...

  • And that's exactly what slows PCs down... AntiVirus software.

No, what I'm scared of is getting spyware which takes all your credit card info...now that's important stuff.

  • furthermore, no matter how advanced the antivirus software is, it cannot ever be 100% effective. Someone has to be affected by invasive software before the anti virus provider even knows it exists and can counter it. I'd much rather use OSX or Linux, and (thus far) avoid the issue in the first place.

  • Do you know that NextSTEP, the OS created by Steve Jobs in **1996**, had transparency, graphic compositor and 3D animation? In 1996 there was WINDOWS 95 YOU MOTHERFUCKER! SO WINDOWS VISTA IS A RETARDED COPY OF MAC OS X!
