@HusseinsBrownShirts ill take your slutty mother before liz cheney if thats ok, lol at least she'll open her legs for the 80.0% jobless americans will have in the u.s. lol ill make that trip to Washington... lol ill have a bastard child like your unkown father has had... get it... lol i wanted to just put some of my jokes out... lol no pun intended... lol
Conservatives want an America where the government has the power to imprison, torture, and hold without trial anyone they please. That is not America. That is Fascism.
anti american? I guess talking trash about the president isn't anti-american in your eyes? I like how cheney and cheney are out there exposing themselves as big time hypocrites.
Dissent wasn't really patriotic when Bush was in office. Socialist? Oh boy. Please, don't talk about that since the former president was the one who bailed out the banks. He also was a radical when it came to foreign policy. He lied. He fucked up the country. Obama is just fixing his mess
Speaking of torture, do you think the babies that lay dying in the soiled linen closets in Illinois, thought they were being tortured? Thats the torture Obama facilitated.
Uhhh what abortion doctors do before fetuses are killed & thrown in dumpsters is torture --- pouring water on enemy combatants picked up on the battlefield in the Global War On Terror is NOT.
I saw this interview and was amazed! I honestly don't think the interviewer was up to the task intellectually to follow what was being said.
I can accept a news bias - we all know this net is far left (and you have fox far right), but Cheney's daughter does a great and articulate job of telling what had been done. She was great!
I was curious about "waterboarding and WWII" so I found a couple of descriptions to understand what they were talking about.
"The Japanese used a fairly common method in which the prisoner had a tube forced down the throat and water pumped in until the stomach ruptured."
"What they did in WWII was pour salt water directly in the mouth and nose, forcing the victim to swallow it in an upside down position, then force them to purge that same water by stepping on his stomach."
Liz Cheney is full of shit. Our soldiers know they are being trained and that it will stop. Detainees are captured, they have a bag put over their head, their roughed up, kicks and punches, their flown half way around the world, no one speaks their language, their stripped of their clothing and forced to stand on a box for days on end, their punched and kicked again, their constantly hearing very loud music, it is very cold, they won't let them sleep, then they start to waterboard them.
yeah, the public dissapproves of Hussein's policies. Its only a matter of time before the public will be no longer deceived by Hussein and the Liarcrats.
Her father and his administration did NOT authorize torture, nor was it deemed so by those that authorized it (including many in Congress including Pelosi. What a lie.
'How far can we go?' DUH, Nora. Maybe that means define the line between interrogation and torture. Your agenda has been pretty clear today, if not before.
Nora O'Donnell is just sick. I'm not watching her timeslot anymore. How stupid are we going to have to get? This is just another 'blame it on my predecesor' issue. Generally speaking, ex post facto laws are seen as a violation of the rule of law as it applies in a free and democratic society. Does anyone even care about that anymore?
If it's been illegal for 50 years, it isn't "ex post facto" to prosecute people for doing in from 2001 to 2008. Torture didn't become illegal in 2009. We've prosecuted people for it (including waterboarding) for decades.
Once again, you are asserting that what happened to these guys was torture. Until all the facts are released, we do not know what actually occurred. Whatever happened, you cannot charge someone with a crime after the fact unless you have definative proof that they KNEW it was a crime at the time. My husband and I are both members of the legal community, and I do understand ex post facto. Only the lawyers who offered the opinions can possibly face charges, and then only if it can be shown...
that they willingly and knowingly distorted their opinions to influence the use of whatever techniques. The media is using the term 'waterboarding' in a very sweeping way to stir this issue up -- can we wait to get all ther information before we start call foul?
As much as I know some people want to, you will not be able to make a criminal out of President Bush and others in the administration. If this continues, only the soldiers involved will be hurt.
Wrong. By definition, a crime is always charged after the fact. You can't make something illegal after the fact and then charge someone with that crime. In this case, waterboarding has been illegal for decades, and we've prosecuted people for it. It's fairly clear-cut, and whether they KNEW it was a crime is irrelevant. If something is illegal it doesn't matter if the accused knows it or not, just that it was illegal.
And yes, our soldiers are hurt, because other countries know we torture.
Perhaps I didn't make myself clear about the prior knowledge issue. In order to bring charges against the White House/Bush, etc., it would require having positive testimony from someone who would say 'I was in the room with XY & Z, and we heard the President/VP/whoever acknowledge that they knew that the techniques discussed were clearly illegal waterboarding as defined by...and so on. That is why you are not going to see any indictment at that level.
I don't consider it a clear cut, foregone conclusion that these guys were tortured. When the reports are fully released, then we can make a judgement. From what has been leaked, I find it pretty hard to believe that one guy was 'waterboarded' 66 times in one day and lived to tell about it. Smacks of bad form to me.
SERE Training is training to deal with torture... this isn't complicated, and it's not a debate- waterboarding is defined as torture- we've prosecuted foreign governments for using it.
Liz, Good for you! * waterboarding is NOT torture * the results saved American Lives, the additional reports should be released to show that * this channel makes weak arguments, but clearly has an agenda to make them * These reports released are a "how to" for Al Queda to study up on, so they can withstand anything we are allowed to put them through
