I loved this song so much I bought the HTTYD soundtrack for it but I thought the CD version would be clearer. I had blamed the distortion on the theater soundsystem being overdriven but no, the song is produced that way. I guess it is a style but it keeps me from really turning this song UP and I so want to. If they did another version I would hope it was one without the distorted piano and drums.
I think I totally flipped when I saw the end credits of HTTYD and heard Jonsi. It's the perfect combination! Didn't actually know they used one of his songs until now, and as a fan of both Jonsi and HTTYD I can't possibly be happier about it :D
Jónsi is so perfect for this movie it's hard to explain. More than just his being Icelandic, he's the totally the type of person who'd make peace with dragons.
@Mr4tify he sings in english and icelandic. Sometimes he also sings in Hopelandic as you might be referring to. Hopelandic is though made up and is a combination of old icelandic and whales' singing.
This Icelandic guy sings English!!! at 1:44 he said: "Stay close to me. Come on, two and three, I've been through your sleep, bursting through the scene. Open your eyes and see" gee, i wonder what that means. Jonsi is a Dragon of Nature
acully He Said "Stay close to me. Count one, two and three. Up in through your sleeves. Burstin through the seams. Open your eyes and see." @fudginny17
This is such a peaceful song, really fits in for a happy ending. the movie HTTYD was a hit...critics give it a 8.5 (great) rating. i give it a 10, fav movie ever. love the graphics, charaters r realistic, great storyline. i heard theyre making a sequel to HTTYD. my only problem is the night fury (i love toothless and not to get off topic here but my cat is like him, his eyes dialate every time he sees me and he always loves me) is it an endangered species in the movie or is it a foreign dragon?
@ICEtheTIGER Toothless in the movie as a Night Fury isn't really rare, but just no one has ever seen or caught one before Hiccup did, and they are one of the more powerful dragons I believe so I guess if someone even did before Hiccup probably was killed. (Though I know more about the book than the movie because the stupid movie kept skipping T.T Hope this helped!)
I know the lyrics all of them including the Icelandic! Here's some of the Icelandic lyrics: Eg mun aldrei gleyma! Pvi eg mun aldrei! Here's the translation:I'll never forget 'cause I'll never!!
@rabidfish02 His solo work is just a side project. The band is taking a break because they all had babies at the same time. They have said they have material ready and there will be a new album next year.
(Eyes open wide blinded by the sun now, orange, and white, dark red and yellow, rainbow colors, and now I see that you, have opened up my eyes to you! Let yourself, go oh oh Oh! Let yourself go oh oh Oh! Stay close to me) that's as much of it I got...
Jonsi's thing is Icelandic, even though his solo album includes a lot of lyrics in English. You do not simply ask the "singers" to do a complete English version.... plus the movie's got a complete Nordic feel to it, Icelandic suits it perfectly :)
@esjaen Agreed! plus Jonsi's work is extremely unique which is one of the many reasons I love it, it would be much less so if they redid songs in English it wouldn't have the same feeling at all.
I love the movie and the books. Cressida Cowell (the author if you want the books which are totally different from the movie yet really similar) is amazing.
Wow! 1st, I love the movie "How to train your dragon"...After the movie, I almost get up, but after i hear to this credit song, im hooked up to the chair! Wasnt able to get up listenin to this wonderful song! Awesome! ;)
@TheEvilYoshiKiller i know right?! good movie. wasnt as babyish as i thought...more like a picture painted for the viewers..(i ko deep, right XD) but in all honesty ppl give me crap for seeing it but i dont regret it and it is an inspiring film that i saw as a drama that was made better by this song at the end definately.
When the credits rolled, i told the girl i was with, "Wait here. This HAS to be Jonsi from Sigur Ros."
Unfortunately, there were no music credits at the end of the film for Jonsi, but its cool to know I was right -- nobody can sound like Jonsi other than the brilliant man himself.
i also sat thru the entire credits (every time i saw the movie lol) to listen to this song. it's beautiful & the movie was awesome! i got my own night fury and named him Percival.

lol after i heard this song i was just "OMGosh this song is amazing!!" so after a while of credits i asked my g/f why we were still in the theater and she was just like "i knew you wanted to know the name of the song so..." man it just made the song that much better !!! "stay close to me!!!" music=love, toothless=joy
