I really have no idea why people are telling her that she is not ready for pointe, shes on them in this video and doing an amazing job so I think if you feel you know when people are ready or not start your own ballet class instead of telling her over the internet shes not. Keep up the good work, I love this video! :D x
i started ballet aged 2 and i am now 12 i am stll not on pointe as untill you are 15 your feet arent prober enough to hold the positions u should not be on pointe sorry x
your really good were you on pointe at 11 or 12. I'm 14 and i've taken 4 years of pointe! i was on pointe when i was 10. I don't mean to brag. you are a really good pointe dancer. :)
@iloveeyouubby123 I'm 13 and started a couple of months ago because I knew I would be super dissapointed if I never tried ballet. I love it, and im sure that you will too, and that someday, you will certainly be able to do that.
@iloveeyouubby123 Yes its hard, but its worth it, and you can feel yourself becoming more flexible after about a few months (Or at least I did :) ) No I live in Australia
@iloveeyouubby123 Some dance studios aren't too expensive these days, you can look around if you actually want to try ballet. My old studio had one class a week, and was $35 a month, which is as expensive as going out to eat dinner twice a month, or 4 people going to the movies. I should say, my case with ballet isn't normal. I was born with good feet for ballet, and I already had strong legs when I started ballet. It takes most girls 3-4 years to start pointe.
@iloveeyouubby123 It would be very dangerous to try to self teach. It can result in all sorts of injuries, broken toes and ankles and stress fractures in your back for example. My only other advice from here would be to ask a studio if you can work for them for discounted lessons. You could offer to wipe mirrors, vacuum, clean the floors, or work at the reception/check in desk.
Nicely maintained turnout in balances and lovely use of arms and head. Try and get the breathing right for a penchee - breathe in and lift right up out of your hips, holding your back firm before you see-saw with a slow controlled breath out and breath in again to lift up, with weight over toes not back on heels. I am sure you have improved hugely since you ddid a good job here. Gorgeous colour tutu btw!
Amazing! I could never have done this at 12, and I don't think I could at 17 with a year of pointe either. You have the same problem I do -- our pirouettes. It even looks like you have the same reason I do, that you're a little scared of them. Keep working on them, though, and you'll get them.
you are a great dancer the critic i have 4 u is to work on your turns, just get your single pirouette down before you try doubles, and work on your arm structure!!! :) keep up the good work!
PLEASE BE CAREFUL NOT TO STUMBLE ON THOSE ATTITUDES AND ARABESQUE!!! VERY BEAUTIFUL AND WELL MANAGED DANCE, WELL DONE!!! P.S LOVE THE LOVELY COSTUME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey r pretty good, but try holding in your core a bit more, especially during your turns for a smoother landing and dont use so much momentem. a relaxed but energized upper body helps as well.
Lovely. Inspiring really.. Im 15 and Ill be starting Pointe soon, and you doing this at 12? Makes me more ready and forced to even think of doing that(:
@balletroxmysox123 Well..I was told that you HAVE to be a good weight, otherwise you have a huge risk of hurting your ankles/feet seriously. I mean, it does make sense, since your feet are supporting your entire body basically!
@PointsofData Honey, dancing like this will hurt/ruin your feet and ankles at one point, no matter how much you weigh. But yeah it is, among others, a reason why ballet dancers have to be so terribly thin.
@Singsonggirl I know that; I take pointe myself. >.< But what I meant is that you could get SERIOUSLY hurt if you're overweight (or even if you're taught wrong.)
@PointsofData The second part is more important. If you don't stretch your tendons and train the supporting muscles right, it doesn't matter if you're waifish, you will most definitely get hurt badly and very quickly. oreopie asked if there's an ideal weight for dancing en pointe and there is no such thing. If you prepare right it's basiically like balletroxmysox said: everything that doesn't keep you from pulling yourself up is fine. You will feel the repercussion sooner or later anyway.
@Singsonggirl Dancers DONT Have To Be "Terribly Thin", Pro Dancers Are Thin Cause Of The Beaty, To Look Light... But No One Has To Be Thin To Dance!!! Haven't U Seen "The Big Ballet"??? Or The Ballet Performed By Guys, It's A Hilarious One... It's So Wrong To Make Pple Think That Ballerinas HAVE To Be Skinny... As Long As U Love It, Your Weight Is Not A Problem
ok. ok . ok. all you people are probably going to judge me, but ive been seriously curious about this. "WHAT is the around-ish perfect weight for a 5 foot 1 classical ballet dancer at 12 years old?" please no judging just need facts!!
When i was twelve i only weighed 78 pounds!! But i was and Am a smalllll child. Now at the age of 15 i am 96 pounds and i am STILL terrified of solos. Great pointes though the arches arethe only problem i see
most ballet dancers are alot skinnier then her and she is thin but that would be prob a normally 12 year old if you look at other ballet dancers they are tny but that is the art it is just the way it is skinny girls and strong men but the girls are not as skinny as they used to be :)
@punkXrock55 i eat.. ALOT! If you ever saw me eat you would think i am obese but i am 12 and weigh 83 pounds, i dance as a life not as a hobby because dance is amazingly important. So i bet she does eat because i eat alot, i dance, she dances, we both look the samee
I am jelous! At my studio there is a rule that no matter how good you are at ballet you must start pointe when you 12! I like the costume alot and the arms are very nice but you must smile a but more and keep your eyeline up! Look confident and hold a strong stomach!
My Dance teacher just told me i am ready for pointe. I am young, but i am not giving out my age. Im still in school though. Not college ;). Im soooo excited about it!!! Good job!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that some of these comments are extremely rude and I think that it written by people who must be peer competitors or by peer academies. You did a lovely job, with a lot of promise for a twelve year old with age appropriate choreography. At age twelve, it is for certain that you will only continue to improve!
i started pointe about a year ago , and i used to go to a terrible dance academy (i have moved now) and they were thinking of putting me up on pointe at 9 , so im very glad i moved , i do think youre young to be up on pointe but you are fantastic for your age . well done , keep practicing your talent!.
You did a beautiful job. I have worked at both small studios, competitive and professional. At 12 I think you have done VERY well at mastering your dance for your age. No dance is ever perfect and this is not an easy dance for a second year student. I say Bravo!
Really you guys need to quit Hating. If you are going to critisize then DO NOT COMMENT! She said she wasonly 12 and a beginner she has gotten better. READ THE DESCRIPTION! GOSH!
You have the perfect body for ballet and are wonderful but i have to repeat whats already said. Although you know each step the only thing lacking is a firm foundation and the basics needed to perfect these steps. Like I saidm you have things going for you but i would seriously consider taking more/better core classes. Hope you rock the socks off anyone who sees you dance!
I think this girl just has something special about her... like those rare people who just are doing what they are meant to do... a rare gift. but either way, have fun and keep on the great work! this video just made my day :) thank you.
@DanceFinatic Oh ha i wasn't sure, a competition studio as in when its all about your class preparing stuff to go to competitions like Showstoppers or Hall of Fame. Ha no it wasn't even bad=) Good for your age! Keep dancing!
Please, please for the love of whatever you worship, DO NOT wear cropped tights in a classical pointe piece. And please wear ballet pink, it's the most professional.
You're a very lovely dancer, but I want to see you stretch your arabesque to the maximum. You don't NEED to have a higher arabesque, but it would look beautiful! Search arabesque stretches, & you should find a great video, that says something like "COME ON COMMENT! RATE!" It should help you get a higher arabesque, I know it helped me!

RATE!" It should help you get a higher arabesque, I know it helped me!

you have beautiful lines here, but you definitely need to work on your balance. the pirouette landing were all over the place.
