  • ho sul cazzo quelli con il karategi di due colori

  • Jean Frenette is a fake. Choreography is nothing in the end. He acts tough on sets but will not do anything because he has no courage to be a real fighter. His career is over...

  • @nadezhdin fuck you i met him yesterday he's 50 and he can shove his foot down your ass and make it come outa your mouth

  • @NONAMEACCESSIBLE you mean shove if up not down, and no he can not actually do that. you may have met him but you do not know what he has done to others in the industry. Wake up!

  • wow, theres so many adverse comments on this page, listen guys you should enjoy this for what it is, This man had the passion and commitment to be the best at what he did. whether thats knocking out teeth or perfecting and organising your Kata to music in this manner . its all done by hard work. also he was most probably the reason those big tough guys in there 30s and early 40s that are knocking people out, to actually take up martial arts in the first place.

  • ¿quien ganaría la pelea. jean frenette o bill wallace?

  • This is the first time i seen him do a form, it's incredible! I just saw someone do a copy of his form, that kid didn't come close to what Jean has done.

  • what is the name of the song?

  • @sailer0510

The Name of the Song is Far from Over from Frank Stallone (The Brother of Sylvester Stallone}.

    Greetings from Germany

  • lo bueno es Jean ya aprendio el verdaero Karate

  • I see Jean shaved that Tom Seleck broom of a moustache off,it really shed bad light on that protrouding forehead, still Jean is a good forms guy, been round a long time

  • the best music form ever...it inspires me even today...mike, chole, matt, they all based on this kata

  • The 1st time i saw him i was like WTF !?!?!? He's the original champion of musical form. Not only flexible but he fallow the rhythm of the music. On the top of that they are clean, well balanced and powerful moved. To day the moves are a lot more acrobatic but it look more like gymnastic than martial arts.

  • Trainned with jean in 1991,its not supposed to be a fight but an expression of skill and control, but jean is very capable when its comes to reality

  • Legend

  • Jean Frenette is THE undisputed king of Kata... period!

A true pioneer of the musical forms.

All the new generation people are good, but you can't beat good old Jean.

True legend if you ask me.

  • @Budopower1 True

  • @Budopower1 this is the kind of crap that has ruined karate, whatever next musical muggings! for fuck sake its a martial art, designed for combat, self defence.

    not a musical showcase!!!!

  • @singhakabuttar Musical Forms are not meant to showcase reallife fights or traditional Karate for that matter...

It's a completely different aspect of the martial arts scene. You can't compare MMA with Wushu either, but both are considered martial arts. So you really have no point there.

(a bike is not a car, though both are meant for transportation)

  • @Budopower1 wushu was a martial art turned sport, similarly this musical forms crap has turned the concept of kata, into a showcase, so you cant call both martial arts, wushu/musical forms are sports, martial arts are military fighting arts, such as okinawan karate, along with other martial arts, that are designed for such purposes, so there is a point Budo power.

a boat is also for transportation but it would be no good on a motorway!

  • @singhakabuttar You all need to realise that all martial arts and fighting has a rythm and even hundreds of years ago martial arts was practiced to a rythm what do you think Kata is? it has rythm does it not, so this type of show is a progression and without progress we stand still?, if nothing else it would keep you fit

  • @singhakabuttar You all need to realise that all martial arts and fighting has a rythm and even hundreds of years ago martial arts was practiced to a rythm what do you think Kata is? it has rythm does it not, so this type of show is a progression and without progress we stand still?, if nothing else it would keep you fit

also all martial arts going back hundreds of years had competitions even the shaolin

  • @danvanbelk1 years ago martial arts were practiced on the battlefields, yes they had challenge matches to the death, i have nothing against healthy competition either, boxing, kick/thaiboxing, mma. Martialarts has rythm, it has broken rythm, everything in life has rythm, breathing even has a rythm, but that doesnt make dancing and martial arts the same thing does it, so why insult the kata by doing it to music, by doing so you are spitting on the graves of the founders of these arts.

  • @singhakabuttar tell me who te hell use this tehcniques in war nowadays? The "martial Arts" baceame a sports discpline and it´s not anymore a killing tehcnique so no one is spitting in the graves of your idols. ¿Martial Arts? The word itself involves a lot of disciplines no only kicks and punches. I guess when you were at the dojo your sensei told you about the war tecniques. Please don´t be so naive

  • @zoroastrodamed every soldier who is taught unarmed combat isw taught effective martial techniques smart arse, real martial arts are still practiced the world over, they are not all sports orientated, what do you think the word martial means, does it mean dancing to music with unrealistic moves, this dancing kata is a complete insult to kata, and its application, tell me why do people do martial arts? what is its purpose? what should be its purpose? in your view? be honest!!!

  • @singhakabuttar Stop your nonsense. Martial Arts, its the way we imposse politics, strength, violence , weapons and our will to the enemy. If you dont´t believe me please read everithing about Carl Von Clausewitz, Tsun Tzu and Miyamoto Musashi. Soldiers never learn true martial arts because modern warfare just needs fresh meat. You are talking about the soldiers like if all of all them were SAS or SEAL. You have a cinematographic idea ot this stuff, forgive us for no to be Richard Chambelrlain

  • @barretlightm82a1 if you believe that training in musical forms is the way martial arts should be practiced then please continue, just understand this, kata has many hidden techniques, which most of them need to be researched for the application of these particular moves, read Eiichi Miyazatos book, this takes many years to do! we have different goals, so there is no need to carry on with this discussion, soldiers DO learn real martial arts, you have a very dim view about martial arts!!!

  • @singhakabuttar Who said this are martial arts? Ashole. You have a mistaken concept about martial arts. Nowadays, what you call martial arts are not more than sports discipines the true essence is gone. Military Do not train Martial Arts ashole, I´m a professional soldier, and I dont see how a maki or a Tolia Chagui can help me top aim a Barret Light M82A1 to a target at 1800 mts. Modern Warfare is far beyond phisical contact.

  • @barretlightm82a1 firstly you son of a bitch!!! nartial arts are not only about physical contact dickhead!!! you may be a soldier, you can call me an arsehole on youtube, try that in front of my face, would be a different matter!!! go and learn from your four legged mother how to speak!!! your a wate of your dads spunk!!! i dont have time for mother fuckers like you!!! real martial arts exists!!! its just cocksuckers like you cant see past there noses!!!

  • @singhakabuttar LOL. IF YOU WERE IN FRONT OF ME I PROBABLY SHOT YOUR FACE, LIKE THE FUCKING BEAST YOU ARE. USING A SIG SAUER P229. YOU RE A FUCKING ASHOLE, NOTHING MORE. PIECE OF DIPSHIT. AND PLEASE DONT TRY TO COMPARE ME WITH YOUR FATHER, YOU ARE A LOOSER AS WELL AS HIM. AND YOUR MOTHER IS A WHORE, THEN, YOUARE A FUCKING LOOSER SON OF A BITCH LIKE YOUR PARENTS. BYE MASTER PAI MEI, YOU STILL HAVE A CINEMATOGRAPHIC IDEA OF "MARTIAL ARTS". BYE MIYAGI SAN JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJ

  • Responder a este video... So, who care what youy have to say? you are another frustrated guy, you just simply doesnt understand the meaning of martial arts, for you the word is only for killing and kicking when martial means military arts. That´s something the old class used to learn but nowadays? you are a complete blind about these discplines. In a war you never use this tehcniques and if so, it is very rare. Ask me, "Martial Arts" are for self confidence not for CQB with real firepower

  • @barretlightm82a1 firstly you say you dont care what i have to say, so why comment?

  • @singhakabuttar As I said before, you have a cinematographic idea of martial arts in military life. Soldiers do not always engage in physical combat, 90% certatain about this. But for a naive, fool, ashole, def like you knloedge is not trascendental. Karl Von Clausewitz was mistaken, please master Pai Mei, forgive me. You re the essence of the true martial arts. So, G36 HK 5.56 NATO vs Karate yeah sure, obvius winner: Karate. Just imagine SAS destroying SCUDS in IRAK with their bare hands.

  • @Budopower1 i don't consider wushu a martial art. i consider it a disgrace to all chinese martial arts

  • la ses tros super je lais mi dans mes favoris !! :-)

  • Funakoshi called. He wants his art back.

  • Nice but this is just show.Useless in real fight

  • that's really good shit :)))) marvellous

  • IM BLOWN AWAY!!! INCREDIBLE!!!

  • you know,,i have been practicing for a long time and I still can't figure out the purpose for this musical kata stuff. I will conceed that it very vigorous and requires coordination but so does interpretive dance and neither are budo. imho

  • Miss the old 80's karate dancing Katas. Looking back they were stupid as shit? but fun nonetheless. Good for history

  • wel tof hoor en cool

  • So?!

  • nice. very good control

  • To all of you who claim that the form is not realistic. Since when has any free-style form been realistic!!! This is a great example of just enough flashy elements and still solid and strong.

  • Hello, I live and train in the Netherlands and met and trained with Jean several times during the '90's. I He was "ahead of his time" and received many critics form the 'traditionalist'. However, real traditionalist should know that kata originates in 'Kumi dancing", so putting some music into it is not that strange. And Jean stimulated hundreds of children to take kata training serious. Further let's just enjoy his performances.

  • All the experts that talk about what Katas should be and Jean is fighting guys ten feet tall - apparently you cant do the math. Jean is 5 foot 6 and one half inches tall his kicks would be to a mans face who is approximately 6 feet to 6 feet two. Oh by the way Kata means "formal exercise" and I would say that what Jean Frenette is doing constitutes exercise - The guy is a five time world champion, and if you do a little research you will see is a a true martial artist in every sense of the word.

  • no veo mucha tecnica

  • hello, could you me tell what is the titre of your video pleas .Because is a good song.

(sorry for my englis I'm student) thank

  • Complete mastery, nothing comparable to what you see nowadays!

Very well controlled techniques, powerful movement, sharp and crisp executions, very good timing...what else is there ??!

  • I think this is very good compromise between traditional kata and the show. He requires full force to do all the strikes and kicks. And he is 5`6", so he needed to kick high due to his sparring competitions(5 times world karate champion, WAKO). He is also mastering his traditional karate styles and is visiting old Okinawa masters to develop his knowledge. Tell me, how many of todays music forms champs can do traditional kata in regular way...

  • hi. Jean, are you from Montreal?

  • well.... I just think its great tbh!

  • he is good but the thing is kata is made to IMAGINE YOU HAVE AN OPPONENT. i ont think he made it realistic. his kicks are excellence and balance as well as flexibility but this video is more on show off and unrealistic. he has probably fighting to 1000 people and they are 10 feet tall lol.

  • not saying it didn't take skill to do this, but man it is so lame.

  • I remember seeing him do his show in TV from Paris 18 or 20 years ago. Could be the same. OK for TV - not for the dojo.

  • this isn't karate this is dancing. fuck these guys they give karate a bad name

  • that was more a show than a kata , but of course was sell made ...

  • Of course it is a show, it's a "Show Kata" after all. Which normal Kata contains music?

Still, this is on a very high level, even if it is only

    done for show.

  • Really good performance!

I would like to see those "imaginary enemys" he fights in this kata. There must be like 40 of them, and some had to be at least 2,40 meters compared to the hight oh his kicks ;)

  • Well...if you find that so easy to kick as high as he can (and at his age) while following the rhythm in the meanwhile...I'm a karate traditionalist, I know the Canadian Tornado and I can say that this man is indeed a genius!

  • just ridiculous... a guy bouncing around. And you call it karate? Oh my...

  • so what is karate?

  • ye its not karate its xma the guy just screwed the name up but at around this guys time they didnt call it xma they called it musical kata, which is like a form made by the competitor for entertainment

  • buen karateca los movimientos del as manos y pies no tienen margen de error

  • Eso no es Karate, solo una coreografia con golpes y patadas no sean estupidos, carece de todos los elementos para ser considerado un kata de verdad

  • you all dumbarses

this is one of the best freestyle u ll see, everything is compact, thought out well, and amazing technique and performance.

This is what you call a master class freestyle.

Many people performing in freestyle karate/taekwondo take tricks and moves from this guy.

All of you bashing him obviously have no clue about martial arts

  • jean frenzy is a good teacher karate es of 6 dan Goju Ryu bunkais and practices of the major katas estilo tambien this is a good teacher ryu hace Shito major operations goshin su jyu kumite and kata techniques in demonstrate a high quality music as well karateca sus kicks are made to any altura el kata ertistico It is a work of exivicion no is a martial art, so this free lojica Bunkai as well as to make it more espectacular oosss

  • what's your definition of martial art ?

  • the most pathetic thing is how some losers can't just enjoy..

It's kinda like knowing how a magic trick is done. Takes the mystery out of it because you're too busy critiqueing it to enjoy it.

This was interesting and fun to watch, once or twice. Amazing how so many fuckholes need to argue over who's better.

I'm probably one of the few honest people here who will say this and mean it.

i don't have a fuckin clue who he is and i never met him. But it was kinda cool.

    3 stars

  • A poor technique and profanation of karate. Just pathetic. Japanese would never do anything like that! And do you know why? Because they have respect!

  • the song is " Far from over" sequel to Saturday Night Fever..Staying Alive.

  • The singer is Frank Stallone..the brother of..

  • I liked the Bas Rutten version better ;-)

I think the song is from a John Travolta movie?

  • Sorry to put in a comment, but I have trained with this man, he is no push over and has my upmost respect as a fellow martial artist

  • Does anybody know the songname? Or was it only composed vor Jean? Great Clip!

  • No, it'a not composed for Jean. It is the musical partition for a very popular pop music back then. Can't remember the title.... fuk I hear it in my head but...

ah muther fuk, promess if found out i let ya know.

  • I always admired this guys kicking ability...nice

  • awesome

  • -_-'....ma cos'è??????

  • If you're impressed with this shit, why not check out flashdance or high school musical thats also full of dance routines...oh, and footloose. And before you say it, I already have beaten his ass...on numerous occasions.

  • I already took a course of karate within his school Sankudo. Just to say that he is arrogant and very proud of being himself. Doesnt care of the newbie, just there cash. I really learn a lot but not by him but one of his best apprentice.

  • just one word i have to say..... GOD

  • Whats the name of this song????????

  • What is the name of this music?

  • This is the musical form to end all musical forms. And do you know why? It's filled WITH ACTUAL TECHNIQUES. That you can clearly see, beautiful kicks as well, unlike those modern day musical forms, it's just a bunch of bullshit flipping and no technique at all. It would be better suited if it was a gymnastic musical competition, but not a martial arts form competition. Oh well. Jean Frenette was the prototype for the musical kata, and no one will top him.

  • correcto frenette es tecnica kick and real artistic martial is the unic artist coerente of musical kata my katas basadas en el oosss

  • Alot of people don't have any respect for patterns and I have to admitt that I do not like it very much but I have trained Taekwon do for a couple of years so i really respect it and watching someone like Jean Frenette is actully kinda cool...

  • perfect ejecution

  • perfect ejaculation?

  • 常に同じ南アメリカのか.oosss

  • Funny how your only defense is mindless dribble, and you don't argue that he doesn't look like a total faggot.

  • Jesus what a fag

  • I wonder if you could do it better than him..

  • I could fuck up a kick, fall over, and hurt my head and still do it better than him, because I wouldn't look like faggot.

  • sorry but... let me doubt that..

  • Anyways.. it's not the traditional Karate. Jean Frenette is using it for musical Kata. You should look at him training and doing the Kata perfectly and fluid.

  • You must know what a faggot looks like real good, had a lot of practice in the mirror fuckwit boy. LOL

  • Perfect form and technique; very clean.

  • name of the music please someone?

  • the name of the music is "gay dance the night away and pretend we're tough while looking all gay" by Moby.

  • I think you've confused it with "Get Your ass kicked for having a smart mouth by a guy you'd never be brave enough to insult in person".

  • You sound like an insecure asshat that challenges people to fight because in order to try and feel good about themselves. What kind of retard challenges people to fight? what are you? In the fifth grade? You call yourself an adult?

  • Maybe frenette dosen't fight in full contact,

but if he kicks you under the chin, I promess you won't ask for a second one.

    (been there)

  • okay, you got me...so you can't spell PROMISE...i guess that sure makes me the retard. I aint gonna argue with sumwon who cain't spell none, it 'd take forever to understand what you tryin to say.

I aint a brawler, I'm just better than you.

  • You aren't gonna argue with a person who can't spell but you reply by saying "sumwon"...You are about an idiot.

  • Haaaaaaaaaaa........I knew there would be some dumbfuck out there who would make a comment about "sumwon"....

.....it's called irony, you butt-poke..........I guess that makes you the idiot.....course now.....you've shown the losers on this page you're an idiot.....so that makes you the grand fuckin wizard of idiots.....haaaaaaaaaaaaaa....

  • well this is just dancing no martial arts

katas was made long time ago for training with out needing a partner.martial arts masters put they knowledge in this katas for the student to learn faster repeating it imagining the opponent. (similar to Shadow Boxing)

but looks like in some time some body say

    - hey look my kata is Cooler Than Yours-

    and the Dancing Begins

  • True thats all I wanted to know. A valid opinion.

  • the best musical forms i ever see! ;D

  • He appears to be a very good Goju Ryu stylist. It's very surprising to me how he's able to have been a forms champion with him being in Goju Ryu. But, because of the style, it translates well into his artistic expression. He looks more hardcore now as a baldy then when he had hair. With the receeding hairline, he looked like a crazy Canadian. *heheh*. Not offense to any Canadians who read this. I had a friend who is part-Canadian and she and I would toss back taunts about Canada and the USA.

  • this guy is a complete fuckin jerkoff

  • So nicely put. Why do you say that?

  • Do you really have to ask why?

  • Because I know him, have studied with him and he's kicking ability and stretching DVDs are a legendary. Traditionally and Freestyle form wise he is a TRUE world champion. Do you know him?

  • Never said I did. Besides. I'm not questioning the mans ability. He could be the baddest motherfucker alive it doesn't stop that video from being a wank.

  • No true Martial Artist would see another Martial Artists skills in any shame or form and use the sentence "doesn't stop that video from being a wank." I've met people like you before, the idea of an open mind will always evade you. No matter anyone else thoughts or opinion. If anyone else agrees with me pls reply? I'm not saying musical martial arts performances don't have their flaws but it would be the same as saying MMA is the best Martial Arts ever. Where's the open minded in that?

  • First off. You don't know a damn thing about me, so shutup about, "I've met people like you before." Second, I hate those MMA nutrider bastards as much as the next person.

And just cos I don't like someone doing a martial arts dance ensemble doesn't make me closed minded, either. If you're gonna get your back up every time someone says something that isn't in line with what you think you're in for a very unpleasant time on youtube.

  • if yo'r gonna name drop...name someone with a bit of cred. and yeah, i knew bruce lee... now suck a mah balls.

  • man i traned with him early in my traning and i wish i could do itagane now so i can understand more

  • Whats was the training like? any tips?

  • He looks more like a glorified ballerina dancer than a martial artist.

But I hope you all keep training in this type of shit so I can continue rising in power as you learn these Korean ways of prancing around like a fancy showgirl.

  • I hope you realize, this guy actually understands all aspects of the techniques, from striking to joint locks and throws. This is his artistic expression, research him a bit more.

  • Oh ok, I thought he was the average McDojo guy. Thanks for clearing it up that he really does know what he's doing. It's hard to tell who leaped into Tae Kwon Do for a year and got their black belt and who is the real deal nowadays.

  • This is a demo. This guy siome years ago lost to Mr. Keith Geyer from South Africa. He can not fight like he does in Kaata

  • 0:46! Nice sprinkler. Can you water my lawn tomorrow?

  • cock

  • Steven SEAGAL can get hide !!!!

  • musical katas are not my cup of tea at all, but I have to admit that this guy has amazing technique as great flexibility. Very good

  • I've seen a vid about this guy practicing goju-ryu, pretty good actually!

  • I do admit that the music was definately gay, but Jean Frennete is a great karate demonstrator. He is supposedly one of the most deadliest and strongest karate kickers in the world. Just by seeing how fast he could kick, I wouldn't go anywhere near him.

  • thats cos yo're gay!

  • What?! Get the Hell out of hear. I'm not gay, you fucking douche! Also, who taught you how to spell, retard? Go whack off since that's what you do best.

  • What?! Get the Hell out of here. I'm not gay, you fucking douche! Also, who taught you how to spell, retard? Go whack off since that's what you do best.

  • ....he is very artist, for me karate is all can to elevate your spirit, and when i see Frenette a fell joy in me.

  • this is not karate

  • gran kata musical: elasticidad, ritmo y plasticidad.

  • hehe, my last name is Frenette! =D

  • Nice!

  • shaolin is wayyyyy better than karate CHINESE PRIDE!

  • why, can you explain that ?

  • I like Jean Frenette and his karate XLOLX

  • This is not kata.

  • that's a good karate-gay demonstration

  • What the heck is this? A musical? Do you have full contact fight clips of him (.ie. KK, KB, MT rules or whatever, no point-sparring bull though)? If so, post them here, and I will be impressed.

This is why people don't take martial artists seriously. I cannot tell if he is an effective martial artist/fighter from this clip. I can only see he is flexible and that he has an awful taste for music.

  • He might be very good at karate, but here, it seems to me, he's just showing off his stretching abilities. Apart from that, nothing special.

  • That's probably the gayest thing I'll see in this decade

  • BTW, it's "lee siu loong, lol.

  • Sub zero in the 1st mortal kombat is played by francois petit

Sub zero in the 2nd mortal kombat is played by keith cooke

  • You're right, my bad. thanx, "Bruce".

  • Jean Frenette has always excelled at forms. Did you know that this was the guy who played Subzero in the 1st Mortal Kombat flick? I know, the flick sucked, but he was good in it.

  • Seriously? I dont think so. He would been to old.
