  • Why is it a bad crash for Irvine? Brundle got hit on the head by one of their wheels...

  • Comment removed

  • pause at 0:07 look at driver

  • Now with the HANS system it looks pretty crazy to see old footage of drivers' heads wobbling around like that.

  • Comment removed

  • Hamilton's fault

  • in which part of the circuit was the crash?

  • @kofferklo

    looks like turn 4

  • It's all Hamiltons fault....

  • @urma1234567 Yes the joke is funny but im having to laugh at a Crash where potentially a driver could've got seriously injured, which is not right

  • what year was it?

  • @nicola00004 1994. Brundle was slowing with a car problem, Barnard was busy watching him and didn't notice he was being lapped by Irvine\Verstappen, causing them to move further to the right (Irvine did it more suddenly, Verstappen responded by jinking towards the grass and spun back into their path).

  • verstappen only flipped because of hitting brundle's head

  • Wasn't that Verstappen?

    I might be wrong...

  • @Nohjjohnthegreat

Yes, you're right, that was Verstappen

  • @Nohjjohnthegreat Yep! In the Benetton

  • do a barrel roll

  • Irvine got a 2 race ban for this.

  • @PresidentSuperman193 Isn't it Irvine we see in the last part of the video? if it is then it's not his fault...

  • Who was in this white Mclaren?

  • @BeakedMonk50 Martin Brundle

  • They didn't call him Irv the swerve for nothing... Retribution move gone bad!

  • guy in red and black car should be fired for life.

  • 1994 was a dark year in F1, so many dangerous incidents like this.

  • Achievement unlocked -Breakneck Speed

  • 0:02 : im gonna pass you

0:03 : oh no you dont bitchez

    LOLOL

  • @jonathankundinger 3rd grade humour.

  • @buzonperiodista more like 9th MOFO

  • @jonathankundinger Suits me, clot.

  • @buzonperiodista clot?? what ever ur a fucking idiot

  • @jonathankundinger Yeah, "clot", you fucking mongrel, any clues?

  • @buzonperiodista i said whatever you "clot" so fuck off you 4 y/o

  • @DBOwnz It was 1994.

  • @dazzosheps thanks :)

  • oh shit ...

  • Lol, rather a Dumbass crash...

The Benneton should've known better than steering and poking like that...

Ahwell too bad of the McLaren caught innocently...

  • Best pile up ever.

  • bad crash? best crash!!

  • It was ferrari´s fault

  • @MIJAEL96APOLLO There isn't one Ferrari in that accident.

  • STRIKE XDXDXD

  • O Irvine quase matou o Verstappen nesta batida envolvendo mais outros dois pilotos! Resultado: foi suspenso por 3 corridas depois dessa!!!

  • _-`TRIPPLE KILL´-_

  • keep rollin!

  • he meant to do it. The guy shunts him so he thinks fuck you and hits him. And look at his head at the end he turns his head and says "Yes, I hit the bastard"

  • the mclaren lost the engine and started to slow down, The Ligeir wascatching the Mclaren, Irvine was approaching faster and jinked left to avoid but Verstappen had a run on him and was attempting to pass. No ones fault just a racing accident.

  • @panik808 Irvine moved over suddenly at high speed, whereas Barnard and Verstappen's lines weren't nearly as erratic. At 190mph it's dangerous to pull out like that.

  • @darthbandon10 Actually I should have said that Irvine was approaching the Ligeir fast and was attempting to pass but at the same time the Verstappen was faster. Irvine did not know Verstappen was that far along side him when he made the move.

  • Why are people blaming Irvine? The car being lapped is clearly at fault for not making way for overtaking drivers. The white line and grass verge is extremely slippery and frequently damp.

  • And THAT, kids, is why you always wear your HANS device [while racing F1 cars].

  • @danthemanpatrick they didn't have the HANS device when this happened did they?

  • @frusciante39 They might have had them, but probably not, as F1 drivers weren't required to utilize HANS devices until 2003.

  • @danthemanpatrick yeah I remember that, they all complained about it at first didn't they?

  • @frusciante39 You know it. But as far as I can tell, F1 drivers don't really have much room for complaining.

  • Doof Irvine!xd

  • Achievement unlocked - Triple Takedown!

  • @Balnazzardi hahahah thats my favorite game. fuck yeah!

  • @Balnazzardi huh ?

  • @BlueBlazer89 BURNOUT PARADISE

  • @Balnazzardi you mean quadruple.

  • @flyingtoilet1 Well if you wanna count that Verstappen took himself out as well, then yes ;D

  • eddie, low level pilot

  • oh eddie...

  • Who is the McLaren driver?

  • @gabrielpizzete Brundle

  • lol, 4 cars...... wusch:D

  • Verstappen had no business in the Benetton that year

  • Jos Verstappen, one of the most memorable debuts ever.

  • after this crash, villeneuve in australia 2001, patresse 1993, fittipaldi 1991, ralf schumacher 2002 and webber 2010 i realized that f1 cars can fly.....

  • irvine always was idiot

  • @PBonline2009 how dare you call irvine an always idiot? he is not an idiot when he is sleeping.

  • @amokachi31 ooh i am sorry man, you right

  • @amokachi31

He probably snores in his sleep, which makes him a prick instead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @PBonline2009 you are idiot not irvine

  • That was pretty cool crash :L

  • QUUUAD

  • Ok, so Martin Brundle very nearly dies again after his horrible crash in Monaco 1984, and is yet to have another miraculous escape from a crash that could've quite easily killed him in Australia 1996.

And since 1997, he's been an F1 Commentator xD

The man is a God of Formula One

  • lol Irvine just wanted to have a punk rock party in the race

  • LoL :D 1 move and 4 cars into minus :D:D

  • Look at Brundle's head!! OUCH!!

  • Irish dont feel pain

  • Flying Dutchman

  • Comment removed

  • Irvine made another mess at Italy that year, taking off Herbert's Lotus (which was powerd with a brand new Mugen Honda engine, that allowed Johnny to take a superb 4th place in qualifying) at first chicane. That caused a chain reaction at the back of the field, and the race was stopped.

  • @MaxMSC97

Herbert felt he could have won that race.

  • Brundle is a lucky, lucky man...

  • Irvine Idiot

  • Brundle was so lucky.

  • thats what i call Flying Dutch Men

  • riskey passing move by verstappen.

  • Badly Verstappen was in this race "the flying dutchman"

  • that's a strike...

  • yeah jos is the flying dutch, this time in another meaning :D go jos the boss

  • irvine is an idiot

  • combo!

  • jajajaja 4 por 1

  • look ! Brundle got hit on his head by verstappens right rear wheel omg !

  • @VBPSucks

Yeah that's why he speaks with a slight slur now

  • @VBPSucks yeah could've been nasty...like henry surtees r.i.p

  • @VBPSucks damn you're right ... looks horrible

  • @VBPSucks He was lucky!! That could have gone way wrong!

  • @VBPSucks men were mad of sterner stuff back then

  • @VBPSucks and to this day, Brundle still makes less mistakes than Murray Walker :D

  • @VBPSucks It didn't hit his head but the airbox.

  • @lcville

it hit his head, look at the movement of it. It's incredible that no one was injured.

  • @VBPSucks ouch.. i had watched this crash for about 100 times and never noticed it

  • @VBPSucks i think the wheel hit the side of the car, it just looks like it since the camera angle!

  • @WWIIStudy101 Brundle mentioned it in commentary once, apparently the wheel left a big black mark on his helmet!

  • @simoncase OOoo, don't wana be leaving marks on your helmet

  • @jaryd12345 Hmm, but they're a side effect of what could have been massive head injuries.

  • @simoncase I was being immature and dirty lol dw :-p

  • @simoncase He also says in an F1 Racing interview that this makes him stutter or forget somethings. We can hear it on air sometimes.

  • Eddie Irvine kicked Verstappen and flew. Although, FIA punished Irvine with one grand prix absense and Aguri Suzuki replaced him.

  • @p15able It was worse than that. he missed 3 races and for the Imola and monaco he was replaced by Andrea de Cesaris

  • @suineggninnips Oh yes. I forgot it. Thanks.

  • luckiest one in this is Brundle in the mclaren

  • helmuth koinigg was fully decapitated by an armco barrier, at watkins glen i think

  • who is the idiot in the blue and white car (not Benetton, Ligier ?) ?

  • eric bernard

  • @SchumacherBrothers Eric Bernard

  • imagine jos's view from that crash

  • This is one of those crashes that's as horrific as Ratzenberger's. Brundle suffered mild brain damamge and memory loss from this, but he was lucky not to be decapitated.

  • Decapitated? Blow it out your arse.

  • Yeah a half tonne car into the side of your head. Shrug it off and get on with the race, right?

  • If you were in his shoes you'd probably go running home to your mammy. F1 drivers have nerves of steel.

  • Ah the common YouTube debater. If I was in his shoes it probably would have snapped my neck... and I'm sure it would yours as well. Nerves don't come into it.

  • It didn't break his neck; Why would it break yours or mine, not to mind decapitate, which is a total exaggeration.

  • Because the muscles in their neck are built up to withstand the g-forces. He told F1 BBC last season before Brazil that it concussed him and gave him mild brain damage. Take into account that Benneton weighs atleast half a tonne, it was a fully pressured spinning tyre that struck him and he wasn't braced for the impact.

  • You haven't explained the "decapitated" thing yet, which is why I commented in the first place.

  • The video should be fairly clear. Big thing hits him in the head, neck's only flesh and bone. But whatever, it really shouldn't mean that much to you.

  • It means enough that I came in here in the first place. Has anyone ever been decapitated in F1?

  • @John27346 Ratzenberger's neck was snapped. Pryce in a freak, although similarly hit in in the head with a heavy object, neck snapped. Difference being they were forward impacts not side on. Simple.

  • yes people have been decapitated before in F1, hmm...Cevert had his head smashed in with a 40 pound fire extinguisher..one guy was truly decapitated, can't remember his name..must've been in the 60s, and another driver was torn in half after crashing into poorly erected Armco guard rails.

  • my bad it wasn't Cevert that got his head smashed in, it was a guy called....Tom Pryce. Cevert was the one torn in half i believe.

  • I had never of Tom Pryce but having just googled him, I see that he was only partially decapitated which doesn't count, but nice try ha ha

Cevert was cut in half but wasn't decapitated either.

  • yeah, you can see a natsy video on you tube of that. one f1 driver who defo did suffer such a fate was helmuth koenigg when the bottom of the armco gave way but not the top when he crashed into it.

  • Cool. Any pictures or video of the Koenigg crash?

  • @creatyve

the guy in the 60's that got decapitated, could it be Chris Bristow?

  • yes quite possibly!

  • I'm afraid Jos was not punished to crash another day at the following Aida GP. Irvine got the penalty, and rightfully so.

  • @JeroenK That's right, and it makes more sense. I just had it backwards.

  • Is there such a thing as a good crash?

  • de best crash 4 ever

  • omfg

  • I found this accident the most funny one in the history of F1 ... take out 4 cars in one swift move. You could not do this twice!

  • And he gets 10 points for a great barrel roll.

  • I sat in Sector C at that race in 1994, and I couldn't see that since the pit lane building blocked the view. Was a great race.

  • Now I checked out Irvine, I actually find it exaggerated he is suspensioned.

He wants to overtake, but he didn't see Verstappen, for my feeling.

  • Brundle should be sticking to the white line to give room, and Barnard needs to keep his foot down and get past quickly. Barnard also moved down on Irvine.

If the leaders had more room there wouldn't have been such a mess.

  • Parece q o pneu atingiu a cabeca do piloto da ferrari

  • take 4 cars out with one 1 move - that's an achievement!

  • irvine has been banned for the next 2 races after the accident

  • I was shaken to the core when I saw Brundle's head being his by Verstappen's rear tyre. It's a miracle he didn't suffer serious head injuries or worse...

  • I don't know... sometimes when he's commentating you can't help but wonder if there weren't a few after-effects :P

  • he actually said that problems he has while commentating come from that crash, as well as one in 1984, at Monaco, when his head hit the guardrail and the track

  • taking 4 cars out of the race at once in perfection...

  • the flying man is verstappen right?

  • yes

  • @Vak410CBS yes it is!

  • @Vak410CBS : Flying Durch man

  • @jannefieke dutch not durch

  • @Vak410CBS yip JOSS THE BOSS
