  • @khanbaliq Go to fucking hell you pakistani terrorist

  • Canada, 34 million people, less people than Mumbai city, scores the most gold medals. Say what you want, that speaks for itself.

  • @insertclevernickname Well, yeah, finally! After failing to score ANY golds in Montreal 1976 and Calgary 1988, it was ABOuT TIME Canada won some bling at home, otherwise, it would've been TOTALLY embarassing!!

  • yaaay Canada :)

Now that everybodys enjoyed the games, perhaps a little help covering the bills please? Us taxpayers are over burdoned and need some breathing room :S

  • omg, NORTHinuit - i totally agree.

  • russia has some big shoes to fill :)

  • I am a Chinese Canadian ! Long Live Russia !

  • @BobbytheCanadiankid So fuck off and move there.

  • @khanbaliq suck a dick twat.

  • The Olympics are about friendly competition. Catch the spirit in your posts!

P.S. Great games in Vancouver. Good luck Sochi. Can't wait.

  • @khanbaliq uhh most gold medals EVER, best games ever, F*ck you. Canada kicks ass, come over and tell me different bitch.

  • How can Canada spend all it's GDP on the Vancouver Olympic games? Do yourself a favor and remove your ridiculous statement.

  • @khanbaliq you sure told me

  • Canada's GDP in 2008 was equal to 1.4 trillion U.S. dollars.

The 2010 Winter Olympics cost about 6 billion dollars which includes highway upgrades, a new convention centre, several new sports venues and the Canada Line subway, all of which will be used by Canadians for many, many years to come.

  • The closing ceremonies were awful! Extremely disorganized and was so boring...China did so much better.

  • what those kids with snowboards have written with the boards?

  • excuse me! im offended

  • Amazing how russians aren't nearly as strong at they used to be now that the World Anti Doping Agency and the respective sports federations have stepped up the testing procedures for banned stimulants.

As for their embarrasing medal haul? They did get 15- Canada only got 14.... oh whats that?... Canada got 14 GOLD?!?!...Well surely they at least won Men's Hockey??.... Sid the Kid did WHAT?!!!

  • The results of Vancouver games are not a total fiasco for Russia. They are far not optimal, but there are results. The actual situation is mainly the consequence of the social and administrative chaos of the 90's. I really expected a drop, as well some the exaggerations of people who like to despite Russia and Russian sport achievements. Good that Russian civil society and government want now to correct the faults committed in last years. Never late!

  • I hope people from other countries reading these comments don't think that all americans and canadians are like the obnoxious, catty, braging ones here who are embarrasing our countries by trying to diss eachother...

  • Russian well belong to the U.S. and Canada, know their culture, history and achievements.

  • Embarrassing how the olympics are meant to reach accross the world and it's only a handful of nordic nations that perform well at the winter olympics.

Countries with populations of 10s to 30 millions outclast major countries such as india, china, etc haha..

  • Mr. Putin!

remove all corrupted old bitches from the Sport Management! Give the green light to all young and talented kids in your huge country and you will see the biggest number of gold medals. And please do not forget to bring back to Russia all trainers who are working today in many different countries! It is not a secret Many of the champions are trained by Russians.

  • Lol that happens for everyone, almost all curling teams are coached by Canadians. There were many Canadian athletes competing for other countries. Its a global sports community now, deal with it.

  • where all dead in 2012 anyways

  • Competing as part of the Soviet Union or a post-Soviet Unified Team, Russian Olympians finished first or second in total medals at 10 Consecutive Winter Olympics until 1992.

  • Leonid Tyagachev is the problem -- I don't know how to get around saying that. There is SOME excusing for the poor performance this year by Russian Olympians, because there is major talent vacuum at the mid-twenties age range; I still say better organization could have resulted in better showing.

More importantly, however, I saw VERY FEW young Russians recruited to compete, even at the qualifying round, which is inexcusable. Olympic experience would be incredibly good background for Sochi.

  • I wish Russia luck... you're going to need it after what we pulled off :)

  • I think if anything this brought us closer with our neighbors in the world. Canada did such a good job, praise to Vanoc and the IOC, all the volunteers. And gotta give it to the Americans, played great Hockey, got the most medals (even though most were bronze) they really did a good job. Germany too, no ones saying to much but they were owning lots. And fourteen Golds including men AND women's hockey , couldn't have asked for a better result. And my God Ashley Mceiver is HOT!

  • @phillip

Canada got the most Gold medals, where l'm from, that makes you guys top of table !!

  • @superstud666 Only a few assholes on the internet, most Canadians I know are generally open minded towards our neigbors to the south. Thinbk you might be projecting a little? or maybe an AMerican pretending to be Canadian? In fact I'm pretty sure most Canadians dont spend more than five minutes in their whole life mentally gloating over another country, its sorta un Canadian. Least not out west, can't speak for the east.

  • Best of luck to Sochi with their games! See you in the rink Russia. Gold medal match hopefully. :)

  • To all of our Guests who came from different countries around the world to attend the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games: THANK YOU! To all of our other Guests that "came" by television, radio, the internet, and all other media: THANK YOU! On behalf of my fellow Canadians, please come back to visit us, not just only at Olympic events, but at anytime; you are always welcome here! Au Revoir, Farewell, and have a safe trip home. P.S. Thanks for putting up with our "Hockey Crazy" attitude too. ;o)

  • ALL CONFORMIST CRAP!

Globalists reasons to make people be sheeople, greedy conformists.

I ignored and supported the anti olympic agenda.

    Sick bullsh*t!

    Paying for this for ever.

    Greedy paid off politicians.

    MAssive waste.

  • well the sochi olympics are going to be much more exciting, their performance at the closing ceremony was spectacular, unlike Canada's which was as bland as the opening!

  • @koooookla The opening was spectacular; apparently you didn't see it. The closing was partly humorous and tongue-in-cheek; apparently you wanted a nuke set off or something...?

  • @NVanWendy

I'd hardly call it spectacular. And the technical malfunction and the torch bearer being driven to the torch in the back of a chevy with a burned out head light wasnt exactly awe inspiring...

  • as a canadian having wayne gretsky carrying the olympic torch in the downtown of my city is all a canadian should ask for...we dont need him on the back of a tank or with jets flying overhead to be proud that the olympics are here and proud to be canadian....this olympics belonged to canada and its never been a better time to be canadian

  • Do tell us where you live and we shall await with bated breath your city's flawless, appealing-to-everyone, spectacular, jaw-dropping, extravaganza. Yeah, the pickup truck ride looked a little improvised, but it had to be open, and a throne would have looked stupid. I don't understand why everyone has to dump on something that was really quite amazing to see. And the non-rising strut? Did you see the closing and how they treated that issue - beautiful!

  • I live in Vancouver actually...

So you'll still have to wait for my "city's flawless, appealing-to-everyone, spectacular, jaw-dropping, extravaganza" !! ha!

  • @coastalpacific So I guess the answer is just that you'd gripe and whine at anything. Too bad you couldn't have just enjoyed it as thousands did.

  • What the hell are you talking about? There were things I liked and didnt like about it and overall it wasnt that impressive. I think you were just blinded by olympic fever or national pride or something of the sort. And yes I saw the closing ceremonies but I wasnt talking about that at all...

  • @coastalpacific That's right. I don't know what I'm talking about and you're right, okay?

    'bye.

  • Comment removed

  • I think the problem is that you don't know what I'M talking about...

You're not really 55 are you?

  • The closing ceremonies were all terrible, including the Russian portion, guys in bouncing balls??!! really?

Glad I went to the openings and not that closing piece of crap. The party downtown was much better anyways!! :D

  • 40 medals?

This sorry showing is indicative of the decline of Russia.

  • What the hell happened to the Russian hockey team? They used to be the best. LOL!

  • In Russia games I expect to see many Russian women athletes smoking cigars and chugging vodka.

  • Russian fiasco?

    They did OK.

The nations ahead of them have always done well at the Winter Olympics.

They should stop they're silly whining.

  • No it was a fiasco compared to past Soviet/Russian performances in past Winter Olympics. President Medvedev called on the resignation of Winter Olympics officials. Good luck in Sochi.

  • actually youre knowledge about sport is ZERO. you shouldnt talk from now on, you dont know nothing. Their perfomance was weak, One of the worst ever. They are a huge force in winter olympic games but they failed in vancouver.

  • Comment removed

  • lol, why the focus on Russia, I have nothing against them, but why?

  • @1981z28camaro becuz RT is a russian channel lol

  • lol, that explains it. haha

  • it WAS a fiasco comparing to what they were able to do before.

  • yeah, it's because they didn't have Ivan Drago lol

  • I think the Olympics should be scored differently, I mean, it's harder to get a Gold medal than it is to get a Bronze, so they should use a point system, a Gold equals 3 points, a Silver equals 2 points, and a Bronze equals 1 point..... and at the end you add up all the points, you still get your medals, but on paper the score is calculated more technically.

  • @ chitchat ;; Ouch. You know, not all of us "Amerikans" have a shallow intellect. It seems to me that you are the one shallow in the intllect department, stereotyping all of Americans like that. Am I going to group all of Canadians into being French because that's something I know aobut them? No, I'm not. Learn more about the actual people of a culture before stating something that makes you look like you're stereotyping them, please.

  • CANADA WHOOO!!!

  • Beautiful performance of The Internationale by the Moscow State Academy Choir, and beautiful ballet.

Well done Vancouver, looking forward to Sochi in 2014 !

  • Quite a pity for Russia and 2014 is a long time away so start training lest the Sochi games turn out to be a huge embarrassment. And congrats to Canada they played a good game against America, even though I'm American I still congratulate the Canadians.

  • @abarzilai664 and Canadians salute the US team- it was an extraordinary game!

  • @abarzilai664

Looking at the Russian introduction, Sochi will be a most impressive cultural and sporting event.

  • chichant-if the Russian performances at the closing ceremony is any indication of what's to come, it should be very exciting. I can't wait!

  • The Olympic is Nationalist masturbation !

  • Comment removed

  • My goodness, what venom! Are you from North Korea?

  • The closing ceremonies were mind numbing to watch. An endless line of Canadians talking about Canada. The Olympics should be a world event that celebrates the young athletes not a jingoistic display of Canadian blather. Why did the Canadians have the goose stepping Mounties and dinosaur size beavers march across the stage. I felt sorry for the athletes who had to wear the white hospital gowns and endure this maple leaf torture.

  • @chairde Your comments are rich coming from an american...a people who are mindnumbingly disinterested in anything that happens outside the US. NBC didn't broadcast the concert following the closing ceremonies, which was really well done and fun to watch. Glad we hosed you in hockey..Go Can.!!

  • @cannuckistan

Vancouver was great. The WHOLE world knows the shallowness of intellect and culture of amerikans - we try to ignore them. Amerikans are fed on fast food and 2 second sound bites, if ever I were to understand them, l'd be worried.

Loved how Canada shared her culture and her humour with the world, it was really awesome.

(amerikans are still sore at losing the men's hockey so badly - great GOLD MEDAL win for the Canucks!!)

    Allez Canada !!

  • I know right! I turned it off because of how ridiculous it was. I'd be embarrassed to participate.

  • Hope russian hockey team will beat canadians. This time it will be "Our country and our game", man!!!)

    peace

  • Look at lat small countrys like latvia or smt like they get 2 medals in olympic, but there is living only 2 milions people

  • Norway has a pop. of 4.6 million and they have 23 medals, 9 gold. Japan, a highly industrialized country with 127 million people only got 5 medals without a gold. What's your point?

  • This has to do with good training and thus finances. America, Norway, Russia Canada, Switzerland all have large Winter Olympic programs with large state funding. Canada gets more bang for it's buck because of it's egalitarian principles. Our most accomplished Olympians are mostly women.

  • Russia in Vancouver 2010: FAIL!

  • @thegreendestiny

Russia expected to get 30 medals in Russia and be in the Top 3.

    They got neither.

  • I have no doubt in my mind that the Olympics in Sochi will be Russia's greatest sporting triumph.

  • it's too bad Russia couldn't knock off Canada. I was pulling for you.

  • misleading title!

  • русские тратят на свой спорт миллиард долларов в год, и всё без толку

  • tagemuro И те выделяемые миллиарды до спорта не доходят.

  • Олимпиада - спорт денег !

  • tozhe sport mnogo-bozhie. Vspomnite otkuda eti igri =) A mnogo-bozhie eto izvrashenie nashego chelovechestva
