  • Absolutely the most artistic skater I've ever seen! The way she uses her arms is just amazing! May have deserved at least one Olympic gold medal and 2 world championships. Her 1996 and 1998 world championship performances were epic!!

  • There has never been a skater that has come close artistically to Lu Chen. My Opinion, she is superior.

  • the most artistic skater from asia until Kim yu na and asada came along

  • In one Olympics we got to see a playful Lu Lu and then the long program which was beyond words beautiful...wow..wow...wow.....what a skater and person...overcame so much and gives us the honor of watching a true artist and champion on ice...courage, beauty, grace and humility...thank you Lu Lu!!

  • She is such a delight on the ice...every move is beautiful and meaningful, unlike many empty skating machines; lu chen the best for me, ever

  • Look at that deep edge on her opening 3/Lutz combo. That's amazing edge control - she looks like she's gonna topple over.

  • Scores should have been 5.4 technical 5.8 artistic

  • 4.9 was way too low, but if you compare this to most of the other skaters, particularly Kwan, Tara and Maria, and even Irina, she was MUCH slower. That probably showed up in the low tech marks.

  • @mlc2005 Along with only a 3T out of the steps and travelling spins. Her presentation from rest of program helped her stay in contention for the podium. Scott Hamilton is correct in another program (I think her 98 Oly LP), she is the only one in this competition that could compete w/ Michelle Kwan when Michelle skated her best, which she didn't here, which allowed Tara to win.

  • @1andonlyCobra Scott did not say Lu Chen was the only one who could compete with Kwan. He said she was the only one who could compete with her artistically. Overall she couldnt, Chen was much weaker technically than Kwan, Lipinski, Slutskaya, Butyrskaya, Szewcenko, even at her best by this point. If it wasnt her artistry and others making mistakes she wouldnt have even medalled. The only one who could compete with Michelle overall was Tara around then. Dont diss Tara as she beat a clean kwan

  • @serenakicksass That's what I meant about Scott's comment. But I think it's agreeable that had Kwan skated Lyra Angelica in Nagano as she had at Nationals, she would've defeated Lipiniski.

  • @1andonlyCobra yes I agreee but it still is a huge feat to beat a clean Kwan in a major event. Nobody else has managed it. Sltuskaya had a chance to do sometimes but she isnt the nerveless competitor Tara is. My only point is Tara deserves credit. Chen also failed to beat a clean Kwan at the 96 Worlds even with her best performance ever. If you compare Tara to Chen, Chen is better artistically but Tara is much stronger technically.

  • @serenakicksass About Irina...my issue w/ her in her presentation is she was NEVER polished. Yes only Tara has beaten a clean Kwan, although Kwan skated far from her best and Tara needed both 3-3 to do it (I count the 3T-1/2lo-3Sal as a 3-3

  • @1andonlyCobra Irina was never polished but at her best she was better than Tara. Much bigger jumps, better spins and footwork, more energetic and spunky presentation, faster and better skating skills. However Tara was a much stronger competitor in big events than Irina was. Chen was a beautiful skater but her spins were pathetic, and got worse as her career went on, her jumps barely rotated or were underrotated, and were telegraphed. That is why she wasnt a gold contender anymore by 98.

  • @mlc2005 She was slow????? Are you out of your mind?

  • one of the most beautiful and successful skater in the world.

  • I think another reason the scores were so low was due in part to Sandra Bezic's choreography. There was no true spiral, especially compared to Michelle Kwan and the same was true for Chen Lu's short program. I do love her artistry and the choreography because for both the short and long programs, the artistry was beautiful, but it was just not up to the standards of olympic eligible requirements. Too bad, because these are some of my favorite programs, especially her long program.

  • lovely dress for this program!

  • Holy wow!!!

Okay, she's officially become one of my favorites. :)

Sheeeeeeeee....is beyond a beautiful woman skating, but kind of redefined some of the spins for me. I love this program and her 1995 world long program. Should've medaled higher, methinks...

  • wow, that was gorgeous. really enchanting skate.

  • Chen Lu was always one of my favorites-equisitely graceful, elegant, perfect port de bras, and a very beautiful woman. Her prgrams always flowed into a picture. Will we ever see the likes of her and Michelle Kwan Again?

  • I watched this live during that time, and this really should have been marked as 5.7T, 5.9A.

  • This was really one of her weaker programs, actually. It doesn't flow as well as it could and is pretty bare in terms of actual choreographic content. Her Long Program is the masterpiece, not this one. She only deserved 4th place for the SP, the judging was correct.

  • @pieldeoliva81 5.7 technical!?!?! Are you crazy. Her jumps were all barely rotated, only a triple toe for her solo triple, her double axel is stalked and telegraphed with a skid at the end, and her spins are the worst of the top women. It is funny to see some of you complaining about the 4.9 for elements but in fact it is much closer to reality than the 5.6 or 5.7 some of you are giving or, the 5.6 the U.S judge gave her.

  • @grafgirl27 It is also funny to see you being a judge.

  • didnt you guys hear?the australian is juding the practice.hahahaha

  • lol

  • The replay really shows how she took the lutz from the outside edge. To mark her down for underrotation while giving full credit to skaters who rotate fully but from a flutz edge seems unfair.

  • CarolineMaoYuna, you are so right about that!!!

  • That Australian judge should never ever be allowed to judge again. That 4.9/5.3 mark was an insult to the firgure skating sports!

  • I couldn't agree more. Must be the same judge who gave 5.8 to Tara Lipinsky for presentation!

  • AnnaPavlovaFan:

    Le Pipsqueak was boring!

  • I love this song, I'm not very into skating but I think the girl is great. Did she win?

  • Most cexy skater ever!

  • fantastic
