Saw them way back in '83 or so . .they opened for Joan Jett at a club in Trenton NJ called King Tuts City Gardens . .they blew her off the stage . .they OWNED that night. Steve Berlin was playing sax for them pre Los Lobos days . . I went out and bought their album the next day . . they still cook.
out of a garage in southern california in the mid '80's!they were hot!came around about the time Los Lobos got out of the garage too!"Cat's" Didn't steal from anyone it was a time where everyone with TALENT didn't have to steal from each other!there was alot of heart & hard work went into these tunes!
Phil & Dave had a dream along with the 3 "cats" and a few others!we had need for some strong Rockabilly & they gave it to us!
I saw these guys at the Golden Bear inHuntington Beach, CA in the early 80's. Your're right - they were something else. They closed with this one and blew the amp out!
@jt123egypte Really? Ronnie Mack? The dude is a cartoon character as far as I'm concerned. Part of what made the Blasters great is the fact that they didn't play dress up or try to live in a time that is long gone. They just played basic, stripped down, no frills true American Rock n' Roll. No costume rockabilly.
great song but they need to change the lyrics from marie marie to stephanie stephanie in honor of the Lady Gaga who i have heard they originally wrote this song for!!!!!
change the name back boys, change the name back!!!!!
@jt123egypte why be a hater?... everyones opinion is different. And your by far in the minority on this. So you think Ronnie Mack is better? Ok, nothing wrong with that, just no need to slam a band and a song that are classics...
The Blasters rock harder than ever!!!!!!!!! I LOVE seeing the boys all grown up, they all look fabulous! And blow me down... John Bazz is STEAMIN' HOT!!!! Still my favorite band of ALL time.
Steve Berlin, who's with Los Lobos, used to play sax for the Blasters alongside the great Lee Allen, who played sax on 'Sea Cruise', the old Frankie Ford song...the original Blasters was one incredible band...
Really, maybe they should rehearse before going on tour aso they don't have to stop in the middle of two different song and say sorry while some roadie goes and gets fkn sheet music/stand
I can't believe Los Lobos sucked. I've seen both of them MANY times, and it uesd to be Los Lobos opening for the Blasters. I've never seen a bad Lobos show. I don't think the Blasters can have a bad show.
Jesus...I caught the blasters maybe a couple a couple of years ago somewhere i think in echo park. Definately could not keep still...kick ass music (but please...don't kick anybody's ass) the dance floor was crowded so we boggied rite next to our table.. and my boyfriend had come in with a bad foot was that nite! We didn't care. That was the first and only time i saw them play. Maybe again someday... The audience in this video looks pretty lame...i would being going CRAZY!!
Saw them at My Father's Place in Roslyn, NY many, many moons ago. Danced away, and met them thanks to Eppy the owner. I was a young 16 year old having too much fun! Went to the Ritz too for another show...
Action packed! I bought all their albums at the time. Nutin' agains Shaky but Alvin/Blaster make it to a REAL rnroller and Alvin have sorta frantic/bluesy voice. Darn awesome. Tnx for postin this one though short but as I say: "Short and neat and hard to beat" Rock on/Roland
Fantastic, love the blasters. One of my fav' tunes. The British rockabilly band 'Matchbox' (famous for Rockabilly Rebel) did a great slower version of this tune - superb).
Wonderful. I saw them in 1984, outdoors at night at a free concert at U. of Georgia. Nobody except us college radio types knew who they were at the time, so we were right up by the stage. Just wonderful... Thanks for posting.
I saw them at U. of Oregon in 1982 or 1983. Didn't have to be in college radio to know who they were; I think college kids all up and down the West Coast knew, or at least from San Francisco on north.
FYI - Blasters fans all the way down from Los Angeles CA (Echo Park, Whisky) to the US-Mexican Border & 91-X radio station. They played downtown San Diego Symphony Hall in early 80's and blew the velvet curtains 2 shreds and floor boards 2 splinters. They rocked Del Mar Fair and other venues in SD. It was "Los Blasters" rockin' San Diego, Chula-Vista, IB, PB, MB, Coronado, Camp Pendleton, 32nd St., MCRD, NAS Miramar & Ocean Beach. Viva Blasters! Prescott Valley, Arizona
GREAT STUFF!! Put the whole F ..kng concert up!! I was there, and it rocked !! (altho I missed "Marie, Marie" which they did at the pre-cocert sound/camera check.). Also great versions of "Help You Dream" with the Calvanes doing the bop-bop, and Red-Headed Woman with Sonny Burgess. The Blasters are the best band around, second only to the Dino-Stones, who still rock in spite of it all!
i wish they would have adapted the double slap stand up bass to all their songs. that would have given all their music that real rockabilly sound.
