  • Thanks Josh.

  • Based on my research, these aren't worth the investment. You save on average $80 per year. The tankless units cost anywhere from $1500-$3000 with installation.

  • ELECTRIC WATER HEATERS ARE EVEN WORSE!! They don't heat up the water as fast as propane. In fact some companies will not sell electric tankless for full house due to this.

  • These cost several thousand dollars to install. These happen to be PROPANE HOGS. Also people tend to take longer showers/baths due to unlimited hot water which defeats the purpose of saving. You have issues with "all or nothing" so no slow trickle hot water, and sometimes it can take several minutes of running water before it turns hot. TANKLESS WATER HEATERS ARE A WASTE. READ CONSUMER REPORTS THEY WILL VERIFY WHAT I SAY.

  • @truthseeker0183 My average electric budget was 219 a month( this on budget plan not actual usage which was higher) for a 1700 square foot home. that's an average. of 2650 a year. So the cost of one years utility bill up front is what i paid for my whole house unit installed. Now my utility bills are half of what they used to be.So they pay for themselves in the long run.

  • @MischievousKittie Except you have to pay by the nose for propane. There is no real savings with these tankless water heaters.

  • @truthseeker0183 yea the cost can be significantly more, but most people feel they save that money in the long run with their energy bill

  • I have a question PlumberSurplus. Is the temperature for the output adjustable? I'm planning on using one for the shower in a tropical country where water is usually 80 degrees. If I bought one of the small electric water heater with .75GPM - 63°F degrees rise, does it mean the total temp for the output will be 143 degrees??? That's too hot. Is there a product that can be regulated to like 110 degrees constantly regardless of the output flow of water?

    Thanks

  • @DarkIpsum On most units the temperature would cut off at a certain level, like in your example it would raise to like 105 and then stop as they are designed to not provide scalding water, but make sure you check the one you are interested in purchasing to make sure this is available on that unit.

  • @DarkIpsum wouldnt u want to take a nice cool shower in a tropical country? thats just my preference

  • which electric tank less emax is suitable to replace tank water heater for shower and sink?

  • @utubmania2009 You may want to consider something like the Stiebel Eltron Tempra 20 Electric Tankless Water Heater

  • @PlumberSurplus Let's say, the incoming cold water in Canada could be as low as slightly below 0 Celsius. If I desire the hot water shower temperate as tank heater provided, Will this tempra 20 you recommended works fine?

  • @utubmania2009 If your incoming water temperature drops that low I would consider a natural gas or propane unit as the electric unit will only raise the temperature around 50 degrees. The RTG-84XN can raise your temperature up to 100 degree with a normal shower though

  • I've seen Chronomite tankless water heaters installed near bathroom sinks. They're compact, about the size of a dictionary and are a great way to save water. chronomite(dot)com

  • Hmmm.... I wonder why here in the States we are barely making the move to tankless? Quite honestly I didn't even know tankless existed till about a year ago. Sounds like a conspiracy to hide the truth by the North American Water Heater Barons to me LOL

  • Hi can any of you guys suggest any european suppliers which ship these products to EU members?

  • Yes, these have been available for decades, but Americans have been slow to pick up on the value of these.

  • it is only considered new technology to North America...

  • Thank you for sharing such wonderful video, checkout wide variety of tankless water heater at CNM online

  • you can buy these on mahaffeyiti (dot) com

  • Thanks Josh great info

  • @mrlepto Yes, I agree. I've known tankless water heaters in South America since 60 years ago.

  • thanks for the info!

  • Nice job Josh.

  • These water heaters were already common place in Germany in the '60s.

  • @riewekoche1 Also in Brazil.

  • @riewekoche1 virtually all Japanese homes have them.

  • Protectionism. That's the underlying reason why US did not adapted this kind of technology though it's being use for a long time in other countries. We have to protect our local industries, which is wrong in this global economy. I'm just wondering why did they not protect the CAR industry? My guest is back then, they undermind or under estimate the technology of other countries, they even refer TOYOTA as TOY. Now the big 3 is suffering.

  • This technology was invented and developed for industry in the U.S.A. I, however, recommend standard water heaters.

  • protectionism my foot

I had a propane tankless water heater installed in a cabin 20 years ago .

  • We had many problems with our last Rheem water heater (a regular tank model). The company was hard to deal with and would not offer anything to compensate us for all of time, trouble and frustration. The dip tube was defective. Rheem finally had a plumber install a new water heater, but by that time, we had already decided: NO MORE RHEEM products!

  • You don't deserve to be a Rheem man.

  • Josh THE DORK !!!

    This guy is estupid !

All of this was already being used in South America in the mid 60's.

  • it was being used in the U.S. as well

  • Still makes it new to Those not living there

  • relatively new technology?? LOL riiigght... I think its only new it US as US never cared about saving natural resources until couple years ago

  • i hilly recommend you get some ecosmart, tankless water heater...

  • Also, the Rheem is HUGE and where is the front faucet and temp control? It's a drag to live in a country that's so slow to embrace basic technologies in common use abroad. Google the Rinnai. It's a good unit.

  • These are very much NOT new technology. As is often the case, they are new only to us in the US. I have lived in Japan, and they are a fraction of the price and the standard in every home. The Rinnai is around 300$ and has a spout that dispenses warm to boiling water at the kitchen sink. The larger are used for the bathtub and use gas as well.

  • lol

You clearly are not a BBQ person. It's been long known that many of the larger outdoor BBQ's have hot and cold running water.

    Get out much?

  • hahaha i just heard that too lolololololo

    BBQ? lololo

  • Maybe you should look at Omega Comfort! Much better unit then Reem, lifetime warranty on heater exchanger and no plumbing modifications from tank to tankless! And all for under $700.00!

  • Lucky you Brianfranch.

Here in the U.S. where oil companies have bought our REPUBLICAN governors and biased our policies so that it is encouraged people to waste energy. We have the biggest refrigerators, cars, houses, etc. It is pathetic. All with the guise of Ego and fear mongering.

We need the corruption out of our government. It is embarrassing.

Geo thermal, solar, and wind energy are awesome.

    Tankless are great !!!!

    That is the convenient truth.

  • This is new tech?? We've been using them all my life in Spain, actually I've never seen a Tank heater here in Spain... = S

  • I have installed the tankless water heater. Now my electric co. wants to put me on a different pay scale. which can cause my bill to go up tremendously. It did save 60 bucks on my bill at first for about 2 yrs. Now that the co. knows I have one they want to raise my pay schedule. If I peak to 38 Klw for the month on my bill it can be around 300.00 for the month. NO sure what I can do about it other than the co. want me to go back to water heate with tank.

  • Do you live in the US? If so, what state?

  • Tankless Gas heaters can draw outside air in through the vent if you are using a fireplace. If its cold,it will freeze the exchanger and crack it,spraying water all over, flooding the basement.Bosch's 10 year warranty does not cover freezing issues.Bosch sucks!!

  • good video.

  • Could you give us a comparison on the typical installation costs of gas versus electric? I've installed a traditional tank unit before, so I'm thinking that electric would be so much simpler to install since you run wires not pipes and no exhaust.

  • its not loud enough dude - cudnt hear a fing - its nowt 2 do wid the beer honest lmao ;)

  • Great! Thanks for the useful information.

  • Wow... that was full of helpful information.

  • Wow I can't believe that these things exist. I think if everyone knew how sweet they were Tank water heaters would cease to exists. Thanks PlumberSurplus for the Great Video!

  • That was so freakin sweet. I'm gonna defitely buy a tankless water heater now.
