  • ... RITCHIE- SUPER STAR .

  • This is a good version but listen to the live track on "Rainbow On Stage": explosive!

  • My Best ScareCrow...

  • Maybe it's a great version for guitar fans, or someone who heard this one first.

But I think it doesn't get in touch with the spirit or emotion of the original Yardbirds version.

Interesting: Loudness made a cover of this Rainbow version

  • love this song :)

  • Doogie White is great! Try Cornerstone!

  • i was born in 95 my father used to play this song almost every day....till now this song is my favorite....

  • im 14 XD learned this music from my dad

  • very nice cover!but I prefer the original of the yardbirds.

  • Is it just me or anyone else singed "In the jungle the mighty jungle, the li ON slee ps to....." along with the solo???

  • @guifercon I was just googling to see if anyone else heard it, then I found this post. It is indeed quite similar.

  • @Mkkl91 lol!!!!

    Isn't that?

I couldn't resist posting to see if someone would agree with me!

    Well... One and counting...

    :-D

  • ronnie dio for life!!

  • Let's face it, guys: everything Blackmore does is golden.

  • 1:19 - 1:24.... fastest touchless orgasm i've ever had in my life

  • but he's not RONNIE JAMES DIO !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • geht nur Daumen hoch

  • This is one unfuckinbelievable music master-piece... Even far better than the original version by The Yardbirds in the mid `60ties!

  • Find this version much better as that on Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, especially the 'handling' of the guitar.

  • great cover song from the Master BLACKMORE

  • Songwriters

    Samwell-Smith,Paul Mc Carty, James Stanley.

And it´s not a wrong spelled.

Paul Mc Carty was a songwriter for David Bowie too.

  • @pintore1 That's not complete correct. It was not Paul Mc Carty. The Drummer called Jim McCarty and was one of the songwriter.

  • @TheLythir

Sorry I Have to correct my self, Its written by:

    Samwell-Smith and Keith Relf.

I had to take look on my LP before I write this one above ;-)

  • Who exactly wrote this song? Someone tell me please.

  • @MrDerake The Yardbirds

  • The best version of this song is with Ronnie James Dio on the vocals - Rainbow Live On Stage 1977

  • @paulpazdera

Definately true, to bad that the version here on youtube is from a crappy recording with static noise.

The DVD of that concert is played many times by my DVD player

  • only deaf person (no offense to deaf persons) can click dislike coz he/she cant hear...or retarded...

  • Long Live Rock And Roll. :)

  • 7 people clicked the dislike button

  • Best pure rock and song u will get is with Rain bow ,,,welcome to mt rare collection

  • To be honest, i prefer the live version with Dio and the instrumental with the cowbell.

  • the wooooooo oooooo :D is so like Tenacios D´s Master exploder :D

  • The music is as eternal spirit has no end

  • This version is best - the genius of the original Yardbirds, the cream version at the Rainbow moderate 75er debut album and the trashy version of Boney M. tinker left outside all times - do not compare with the top track on "On stage ". But Ronnie James was on vocals and Cozy on drums too grandiose, as has the voice here and in general these rainbow cast not the slightest chance against. This version only lives of Ritchie's intricate guitar playing. Rockin' greetings from Germany.

  • One of mr Blackmore's finest 5 mins outside of the dio era.......stunning track............

  • my bonnie lies over the ocean

  • Thumbs up if you tape i'm sad

  • @thekoalak no one is going to give you thumbs up hahahahahahaha loser :D

  • @laupii1 :'(

  • umm wtf this was in the sugjestions 4 the unicorn making love 2 a rainbow vid

  • @patmat99 in fact it is a cover of the yarbirds track, rainbow covered it in 1975 and boney m in 1977

  • @hvelez88 Wait- what? Clapton or Beck? I'm confused.

  • @hvelez88 The Yardbirs 1965 people....come on...

  • shame about the album but the album is quite good not their best but good

  • i saw purple at knebworth and ritchie was not good as rainbow he rocked but this album slipped under the radar and its great please kick candice into touch and make ONE more album the last rainbow album we have rised and been over lets have the end of the rainbow.........

  • Check out my vids, I make them on things like loss and solitude, loneliness ect .. I'm only 15, but I try to give my view on these things, and I hope you find it helpful and insightful.

  • I saw DOUGGIE WHITE with Rainbow in 95 and with Malmsteen,in 2001.Good technical generical singer. You can find in any music school nowadays.Dio was one of a kind..No way to compare...

  • @beroth77 u couldn't las tour was 97 so no u didnt not 2001 anyway

  • @Rorschachxx1985 What? Yes,maybe was in 97 with rainbow i guess,but Douggie in Malmsteen's band i 'm shure i saw in 2001.

  • @Rorschachxx1985 thats kl man im jealous wish i could have seen rainbow oh yh my other commenti mean album cover shame about the album cover

  • I write "I'm sad" in the search box and I get into that song... And it's a great song!

  • Only Blackmore can make that Great sound!!

  • Now I'm sad. Some selfish fuckers from my school make me fell like this. And I was trying to find a song that would make me feel better. And you know now know I know what to do.

  • Great Song. What Year is This? The Last I heard he was playing folk Music.

  • @jreese71 This was from 1995, I think. His folk band is Blackmore's Night, some really great stuff. Live they always crack out a Purple/Rainbow tune or two.

  • Dio was better than this!!! I think Dio was the king of "rock" voice, beyond Ian Gillan!

  • @MrAlexdive Dio was way Beyond GILLAN .No ofence really.

  • @MrAlexdive i agree with u but i think this version is better.....

  • @MrAlexdive mabie Dio was king or rock voice, Gillan was God of Rock Voice

  • Doogie White is epic on this and sure the best spiritual son of the great Ronnie , with Jorn Lande .

  • STUNNING VERSION

  • goddamn!!!! in what far off corner of the world did Ritchie find Doogie White??? Holy shit talk about a near replacement for Dio... good job Ritchie... as always.. except for Blackmore's Night.... bad job.... u been P-Whipped my man...

  • @diamondback604 you rather play with dio in a band or roll over on candice night every night

  • This song was made it by Yardbirds in 60s, however origin is actually 1600 tales monks pray!! I have to admit that never heard any other 400 years old music which is fabulous

  • Friggin' brilliant!

  • One thing has always bugged me about this otherwise great song: is the melody SUPPOSED to be the same as in "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" or is it rather an unfortunate coincidence? I mean honestly!?

  • @MisterUtterson You should ask The Yardbirds as they are the original writers/recording artist of this song. Ritchie covered it on the first Rainbow album as an instrumental.

  • We must not forget Doogie White.Excellent work at vocals on this record

  • "the best guitarist the world has ever seen has stuck his head inside a pussie for about 20 years...."

Thing is, though, after 40 YEARS of music, Ritchie Blackmore has EARNED the right to do as he pleases. He's 65 years old, a new father this year (Blackmore's son J.R. is old enough to be his half-sister's GRANDPA!), and has been with Candice for nearly 20 years. Sure, I'd rather see him do another Rainbow album, they're my favorite band, but I won't begrudge him doing Blackmore's Night...

  • @DennisGW10

"...has stuck his head inside a pussie..."

    Ferkel!

  • I've been a GIANT Rainbow fan from Day 1. Ritchie Blackmore has been my musical hero since I first heard Highway Star from Made In Japan on Sept. 5, 1973; yes, I remember the EXACT date...I had my high school senior picture taken that day. I bought every Rainbow album the first time I saw it in the store.

Up until today, Sept. 7, 2010, I had never heard this version of this song. Maybe because 1995 was a tough time for me, I never got around to buying it. Damn. Better listen to it NOW!

  • @DennisGW10 Wow I wasnt even born then...

  • @DennisGW10

You can still buy it now! Never too late to buy some rockin' stuff!

    Long live Dio!

  • @DennisGW10 Cool story bro

  • @DennisGW10 do u like every rainbow album then

  • @Rorschachxx1985 I bought them all on vinyl. I bought them all on 8 track. I bought them all on cassette. I bought them all on CD...except Stranger In Us All, which I now have every song from that album bookmarked on Youtube. So yeah, you might say I like them all...as most people like every album by their all-time favorite band...

  • the best guitarist the world has ever seen has stuck his head inside a pussie for about 20 years....

  • one single word from this son of a bitch would be enough for a rainbow reunion....

    now DIO is dead.....

  • @njunkie1 so fu.king true...

  • Oh..i found an amazing upgraded solo of this song..enjoy here ' Myo Gyi - Live In Yangon - Lay pyay '

  • ☆×5 Very good

  • The best rock track EVER. Fullbore in the car at night on the way home.

  • Sadly, not all singers can be Ronnie James Dio. On the plus side, not all comment-thread troll-tards can be Varvara10. So you see? The universe has balance in it.

  • I know this is not Dio, but R.I.P. =(

  • this wrong. not still i'm sad

  • @SkyStarOne If it's not Still i'm Sad, WHY IS HE SINGING STILL I'M SAD IN THE CHORUS!?!?!?

  • I listen to this song when I need to be relaxed......It relaxes me especially in tje begining.. So relaxing........(:

  • Starke Rocknummer , aber Ronnie hat´s auch gut gemacht...

    Long live Rainbow!!!

  • Just Perfect ..

  • The part when the singing starts (the oh's, going higher in pitch) reminds me a lot of "Number of the Beast" by Iron Maiden. Of course after that it's totally different. Well, I like both songs anyway, so I don't mind. :)

  • No, this isn't Ronnie James Dio on vocals, but Doogie White does a damn good job here! What an awesome version of Still I'm Sad!

    5*****

  • I had only ever heard Ronnie sing this -i do like this version too.

Its a great song and sung well here.

Thanks for sending DIOMODE and thanks for uploading hvelez88

  • Doogie sounded a lot like Graham Bonnet.

  • maybe a little, but Doogie is a much better singer, in my opinion...also, you can check out his work with Yngwie Malmsteen and Cornerstone..he's a very underated singer and many people have never heard of him...this song and the entire Stranger In Us All is my second best singer under Ronnie James Dio with Blackmore/Rainbow!

  • @DioMode Please,tell me you're kidding..anymay.Cheers!

  • RJD is the vocalist i enjoy listening most throughout the years, and to think the one show he played, here and i didn't go- ill never forgive myself for that.

  • And now I know....Soldier of Fortune...

  • lol guys u dont know Dio's voice and u still listening to rainbow?? thats a big sin...

  • @hegmat

  • This isn't Dio, what do you mean?

  • yes this isn't dio

  • Comment removed

  • grande pezzo uno dei più belli..ritchie è superbo..

  • Dougie White rules, but he's no RJD.

  • Aye Dougie is a good singer! Not bad for a lad from Motherwell though :-)

  • A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ritchie Rules!!!!

    Always surprising!

    very good vocal performance

  • Fantastic !

One of the best for Rainbow.

  • I like all versions of this song. I like the solo in the instrumental version in the "Richie Blackmores Rainbow" album. When there are lyrics I like this version because the tempo is a litlle slower and the singing is more to the point with less improvization however I would have liked it very much if DIO (of whom I am a gerat fan) sung it like that.

  • try to find the album Rainbow on stage!still i'm sad with DIO!fantastic performance

  • pretty good but not as good as dios version

  • Beautiful song. The first album version is definitely inferior to this one.

  • Personally, I run the two together ~ instrumental version leading into this one. It's makes for a great build-up to Dougie's vocals!

  • i think this is the best rainbow track that they have recorded

  • im in love with the intro

  • good song but dio's version elevates it to great!

  • awesome...

  • this one a song done originally by the yard birds

  • My favorite rock (Richie)alblum (Stranger in us ALL)!

  • First, if this singer were a crap be sure he never sang in Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow! Second, so he is one the great vocalists of Rainbow along with Dio, Bonnet and Turner! His name is Dougie White!

  • ok true

  • Is this Dio? Singing i mean?

  • "Varvara10 -

no its some other crap guy dio was god!!!!!!!!!"

wtf? retard. Dougie White is great and a well respected singer in the music world. A crap singer doesn't work with world renown artists like the ones found in Rainbow, Empire and various other bands.. Including Malmsteen and still have success.

Here's a cookie. You succeeded in being a retard.

  • @Varvara10 This guys is no Dio, but he's far from crap.

  • Not tht Holy Dio!!!Bro.

  • simply the best

  • i think there's a bonny m version,or is it the original?anyway great song

  • blackmore is the best whats deep purple doing living off blackmores glory gillan what a joke he is deeppurle without blackmore is nothing

  • all the meaning in these lines just makes you feel warm inside sad moments . others been there..

  • excellent tune

  • the best!!!!!!!!!

  • awasome... :)

  • nice song
