Definitely her very best performance of Ever Dream so far. This is so full of emotion from both Marco and Anette; it's hard to believe how much Anette has improved over the DPP tour. Here's hoping that she and the guys in Nightwish will be this awesome on the upcoming Imaginaerum tour (but we all know they will be)!

The Tarja vs annete quarrel should end someday, enjoy the dam music. There are better singers than Tarja and Annete and bands that can kick nightwish ass anyday of the week. So enjoy the music and be happy. And to call a singer of the caliber of tarja a ¨dramatic wailing Banshee" is just a bad joke. Tarja is deeply emotional when she sings, a quality that any musician should have if they love music.

@irenikus777 sorry but she's not singing in a low range. She's clearly reaching the notes Tarja reached singing opera, the difference is that anette is reaching them with chest voice and belting. And dont say that ever dream doesnt have high notes cause it does. Not many singers are able to combine chest voice and belting in a song and not many singers are able to sing that high without opera training, and moreover this is LIVE. In my opinion anette olzon is better cause she's more versatile.

1 - what she does is not belting. She MAY try to do belting, but she has absolutely no control, does not hit the right notes and is generally out of tune with both her part and the orchestra's

2 - she sings all songs (including Everdream) in a lower register. I can't say more if your ear does not help, use a piano and check for yourself.

3 - she sings all songs with belting (or whatever that is). That is the supreme example that she is the one not versatile enough.

Funny enough, in those songs Anette does NOT use belting. Is this weird or what? :)

5 - Tarja sings metal, old school rock, opera, lied and chamber music. She now has 2 bands: one for metal, another one for crossover classical. She even sang house and trance.

She uses all techniques from all music styles.

If you think that's not versatile, or that Anette is more versatile.. I rest my case.

Search here on YT Tarja's performance of Sleeping Sun at Wacken in 2010. At the vocalization before the final guitar solo she uses head voice - belting then again head voice - belting in the SAME BREATH.

Check her duet with Doro Pesch where she uses a rockish voice with almost no vibrato.

Then check her performances held in churches, using old "latin" intonation.

I have always loved her, even when she first started. And she was good then, but god she is phenomenal now. And as for the stage presence, i think its how big the stage is. I live in the USA and they play on a small stage (unfortunately) and she does great here. Not to say she doesn't do great here...but i think with her old band she was used to small stages, and now with Nightwish she's playing sold out arenas. She will have it by next tour i'm sure.

As much as I love Tarja, I always felt that her voice was way too soft and calm sounding for this song, especially compared to how Marco sang his lines. Anette really delivers the energy that this song requires and I can totally see why Anette's version of this song made him pick her! :D

Everdream is sung in a pretty low register, no epic high notes here. Check Stargazers or Wanderlust for those.

Regarding "doing the high notes" .. not at all, she sings most parts of the song in a lower octave altogether.

Does not sound bad at all, but let's not see something where there isn't anything.

Try to do those high notes using the belt voice. It is certainly possible, but it requires a strong technique and a strong support of the muscles of the belt. And Anette, at her beginning in Nightwish, wasn't able to do it during concerts. That is why I showed so much happiness in my comment. Thanks <3

Moreover, I wouldn't say that Stargazers and Wanderlust are so high. I would rather quote Fantasmic or Pharaoh Sails To Orion =D

Taste is subjective but music theory is not. If it's belting what she tries to perform...

I quoted Stargazers for eg not because it has THE highest notes but because the whole song is in a very high register with plenty coloratura, requiring a 'purebred' voice and agility. It's one of the songs the new Nightwish is unable to perform anymore.

As far as I heard Tarja's highest note when in NW was in Devil and the deep dark ocean, but she evolved since back then.

BTW: Tarja is doing even higher notes using perfect belting technique (not this, I really disagree with this being belting). As a random example check The Siren or some of her solo work (In for a kill for eg).

To make a long story short: I am OK with Anette, she may or may not improve. Until then between her and Tarja is a difference of talent, training and many other factors.

I'll still listen NW and of course i'll buy Imaginarium but let's get real for a change.

I think this is Anette's best show ever, honestly. The belting is perfect in this song - her belting is practically flawless here, it doesn't sound strained to me at all like it sometimes does. She reaches all the high notes without sounding like it hurts her (which she often did at the beginning especially).

It's astounding to me that people still criticize her constantly - look how much she's improved! God, I've never seen a singer turn so completely around. The woman is talented!

I think this version is a thousand times better. You can see real guts and vocal talent. Not like Tarja who sticked to tessitura and never risked anything.

Just................ wow! This is by far my favourite Nightwish song and this is just...... there aren't words to describe how amazing this is.

Even that one section where Anette voice sometimes cracks when she hits the really high pitched 'Ever felt a way with me' was amazing. I didn't think she had this kind of range in her.

All I have to say is that when they go on tour for their next album they'd better have this song on their playlist, I'd be really, truly upset if they didn't
