  • good size blueez rite derr!!...lol

  • i can be very rich if im there.

  • I've just learned there is a creature called abalone.. and let me get this right.. if you'd sell all of these you'd be rich?! This world is sick. People have to stop labelling living creatures delicacies.

  • nice spot mate, ive got to spots like like down here in the south, easy to get to to. i will post a vid next time im out there, but wont be giving any details away lol

  • mother load... mmmm i quess so, we found a bed ruffly half the size of a football feild on the west coast of the lower south island which is still not a marine reserve 2day... However this was over 7 years ago now, and i can only amagine what it looks like now... the downside, its over 50meters down! Kina's were sizes of basketballs

  • appreciate the video you put together... you forget how fragile underwater life is until you go underneath

  • WOW! Thats alot of abalone!!

  • Comment removed

  • you are fricken joking

  • thats not what your mum said. u ell catching homo. taranaki hard core thc

  • we are soooo lucky in NZ, we can take 10 a day per person, sized that is.. ive lived in japan where it can be anywhere from $120 and upwards for one... yes ONE paua and its not much bigger than a 2 year old kid foot.... saying that.. LOOK AFTER WHAT WE'VE GOT

  • Paua poachers wet dream

  • were so lucky here in Aotearoa (NZ) other countries have over fished the marine life on their shores...

  • waitara

  • @connorBBL Waitara my ass! Taranaki Paua are tiny. Hence why the size of legal paua in Taranaki has being decreased.

  • @longfinnedeelcatcher shut up u fukn eel hunter u just got 2 no the spots, get a eel net muppet

  • Lol! Dude the size of Paua in Taranaki has being reduced due to the small size of the Paua there yet you are trying to tell us these large Paua are to be found in Waitara! Pull the other one! Want some apple sauce with those porkies!

  • Stop lying to tell a story you dumb Hori! Sheesh! What's up with people who try and tell you a video is shot in a place notorious for having tiny paua.

  • UN FRICKIN REAL!!

  • were the fuck is that

  • They were still pink leave them aba-alone you guys.... Tangyroa will get hasty at yas.

Iv'e swum got spots that look like this.

    :: Rolled a 4

  • @Snizak3 Pink is the colour of the fungy on the shell. Pink is good in that it shows the fungy has had time to grow. When the fungy turns black you know they are getting real big as it shows that the fungy is aging. If the shell is all white and clean and without fungy growth you know the Paua are young and small.

  • Illegal poaching is decimating this species. Will we allow poachers to have this species go the way of the white abalone...almost ineviatable extinction due to greedy overfishing?

    STOP OVERFISHING!

    Greedy fucking bastards.

  • @gothenburgmark Didn't see any taken in this piece.

  • Man.....u young fellas only think about the puku, and not about tomorrow

  • wainuiomata has them beds! just a warning tho, if you caught by fisheries then your lucky! cos if we catch yah................lol its good to see lots of people with the "diving bug! if your not from wellington and wana join the "snorks, for a dive your more than welcome! jus drop me a mesage...we dive, cook feed out thea and have a few beers with alot of laughs!!

  • i know where a bed likr this is co-ordanates are Latitude: 37° 38' 30 S, Longitude: 176° 11' 10 E

  • those coordinates are for a shop at Mount Manganui

    i checked

  • "OMG! 4 REAL!"......

  • Alright bro whats the co-ordinates? I'm the 'youtube proof police' and in order for me to verify this video is real your gonna have to give me the location.

  • Mean! never seen this much paua in one spot!

  • Pretty hard to find beds like this these days too many poachers going out and grabing hundreds. 10 is more than enough per person. I can't even eat more than 2-3 in each sitting and I'm a fat cunt lol.

It'll be cool to start a paua farm than you'd be able to give back to the ocean and everyone would have plenty to eat.

  • Hey , seen a bed like this before as well,

got a couple of biguns for a snack really big shells . Lotsa people comment on the shell size . Only take what I need and farm the rest just like crays .Never clean them out ...ever.

  • If only a few other people could take that attitude, spots like this would not need to be kept secret.

  • me and the cuzzies would smash that spot heaps of fritters

  • Rapist of the sea!

  • You and your cuzzies would be pretty thic sea rapists wouldn't you?

  • A lot of round stones where's the abalone?

  • You must be kidding right?

  • Are you really that dumb? You are obviously a novice diver!

  • delicious.

  • It's right near the beach

  • what amazes me---i thot abalone were kelp eaters --how can they be so prolific---what are they eating---just filtering the water???? jpmilllermd

  • poaches are poor ppl who need to make a living.. BUT THE BUYERS should be handed in to the authorities.. including THE SUPPORTERS or the other word.. 'the eaters'!!!!!! who eat expensive abalone? they arent poor ppl.. they arent uneducated..

  • Poaches are arseholes who have no respect for the sea or for future generations.

They are greedy pigs who live only for the here and now.

  • @teff7 sounds like your describing a politician.

  • Comment removed

  • As soon as you say reserve they know where it is..Poaches should have their hands cut off!

  • dang, that's like a world of abalone!

  • oh snap where ur spot at man i want in

  • Pointless giving the details of this spot away, as it is now in a marine reserve. If too many people know, it is only a matter of time before the poachers hit it.

  • I remember as a young boy we had abalone like that off the California coast. And then people got gready, and the commercial fisherman came in and wiped them to the point of extinction. Now you cant dive for them and they are protected but I know they wont ever be back as before...sad

  • fwwaahhh mean bei mean

  • Holy crap!! I would just die if I found that lot!

  • gotta get out there soon its getting warmer people lol take the fam get ur quota paua kina ika and koura geeeez and im not even a good diver lol

  • what a beautiful sight only problem is if i knew where that was id be really fat all ill be doing is buying cream LOL

  • LOL. It is now safely tucked away in a marine reserve :-)

  • primo sight, lets hope it stays that way.

  • OMG that's alot of Paua! Glad to know there are still places where they lay in abundance...just hope those prick poaches don't find them!

  • Where is that ?

  • That is insane, If only wellington was like that.

  • Parts of the South Coast still have their fair share of Paua.

  • i dived areas 5abd comercialy for 10years and found some good areas, that is a nice find

  • I live in Sonoma county, California, where it

is legal to free dive and get three per day,

in which they must be at least 7" in diameter, and a total harvest of 24 abalone per year per diver is the law.

Your video is amazing, and shows us what it USED to look like over here many years ago

    before excessive harvesting/poaching occurred.

I would love to visit New Zealand!

    Cheers from Santa Rosa, California!

  • Greg you can see spots like this at low tides in some places around New Zealand. Without getting your feet wet. Try and upload a recent episode of the ITM Gone Fishing Show. The host - Matt - simply gets out of his car and walks down to the beach and there are thousands of paua in rocks pools you can pick without getting your little toe wet.

  • in nz you can get 10 per day at 5" (125mm) long free diving

  • you can accumulate up to 20 whole paua or 2.5kg shucked meat at home in the fridge etc

  • mean bro!!!

  • damn

  • Don't show that to the Chinees.

  • omfg.... nice find

  • niceeeee man glad to see that much abalone SOMEWHERE

  • Wow, that's amazing. I'm surprised they get enough to eat living that close together. Are regulations freediving only, same as in California?

    Nice vid!

    -R

  • Regulations state that you can take these freediving only. This means in the more populated areas, you can still easily get a feed just by freediving deeper than the majority of paua gatherers.

  • That's way down south!

  • Bro that's awesome! Don't wanna know where it is, just wondering how deep and if you were scuba or snorkelling. Massive!

  • On snorkel, in about 3-4 meters of water.

  • wtf where about
