Yes, not romantic but as the comment above says, "brings your mind to a halt". I find it like a kind of sensory deprivation where the constancy of the scream empties and focuses the mind to, yes, perhaps absorb and appreciate the manipulation of sound and light you speak of. A fantastic film.
polish film is full of irony, and manifestations of manipulation, and workshop of film form is pure deconstruction, very analitical, material and is very close to sience, so cold and in oposition to romanticism
its polish structural film so its not a cry, rather checking audio limitations of film mater and audience perception, and examining relation of sound and light.
In my opinion, the greatest avant-garde film thus far, better than Un chien andalou or Wavelength. Superb. Inspired. One of a kind. Like The Shaggs, brings your mind to a complete halt.
he's good :D

What the hell is this video supposed to mean? Still, most actor types get awards for worse films.

I've seen it in school once, as part of Robakowski's lecture about his friends ;-)
For me there is not too much emotion, it's rather joke mixed with experiment and some kind of "be brave, throw old rubbish away" attitude.
But if someone sees it as "full of emotion" - it's ok too, somehow I can understand it. Maybe we have different expectations?
Thanks for this upload.

Yes, but that makes it sound rather technical, I think there's real emotion in the film.

Thanks for putting it up. I've been looking for a decent version for about 20 years.
