I was born and rased in brasil..but always exposed to english in videos and music..never took classes though..it took me a couple of months to learn the language when I lived in the US for a while and i was 11 years old...(i know ppl who learned the language with this age and have accent)after that i went back to brasil until I was 18 and came back to the US...no one can tell that english is my second language!

Could you understand her Portuguese. She speaks Spanish and English...however, my friend speaks Portuguese (she was the reason for us going to Brasil for Nia was the flower girl at her wedding there) and Nia is mimicing what she hears although she understands some Portuguese because it is similar to Spanish. All I know is that I played it for her a couple of times and she listened to the words and they were memorized. She is in a Spanish Immersion program in kindergarten as well and she has picked up the language to almost fluency.

Oh, I just saw you are from Dominican Republic. Nia is actually in a Spanish Kindergarten where all subjects are taught in Spanish for non Spanish speaking people throughout her elementary school career. Hopefully, she will be fluent before the end of the yr.
