  • isnt she wonderful!!!!!!!! WOW

  • I stumbled apon this amazing singer. What else has she done and where can I get a CD of her voice?

  • There's a CD of her as Semele, done some years after this production. It's great!

  • She appears with the English National Opera frequently so check their website out!

  • hotness. oh yeah, she's really good, too.

  • I think its great to see everyone saying that they prefer one person over a another while still lauding the performances of others.

  • The best Semele IMO. The new CD is just great too!

  • Ah! Wonderful! She's not quite as cute as Bartoli but her voice is just divine.

  • Rosemary is cute beyond compare!

  • Ok, so I've listened to 4 fabulous Semeles available on YouTube for the same aria: Battle, Bartoli, Massis, and Joshua. To me, it's neck-and-neck between Bartoli and Joshua (in the same Carsen production almost 2 decades apart!). RJ manages beautifully to be colorful, unlike Massis, accurate, unlike Battle, and orderly, unlike Bartoli, and then some. I can't wait to get her new studio recording of Semele out this year (again, 2 decades after this Aix-en-Provence prouction). Gotta be hot stuff!

  • It's all a matter of preferences. They are all wonderfully different interpretations!

  • Beautiful singing... great! But I still prefer Battle's version.

  • beautiful singing...great! but i still prefer bartolis version.

  • What a consistant, beautiful and stylish performance. Incredible nuance!!

Thanks so much for posting. Do you have anymore clips from this performance? Sleep, why dost thou leave or Where er you walk?

  • sound a bit quiet no?

  • "Myself I shall adore" - do you mind, Rosemary, if the rest of us do, too?

Great to see British songbird, Rosemary Joshua, on Youtube!

  • Joshua is an ideal Semele, and an almost perfect union of singer with the composer's rather daring conception. If I'm allowed a minor quibble -- the ornamentation in the da capo sounds a bit too conventional in a couple spots. Does anyone know if she's British or American?

  • Sublime singing! Brava, always!

  • Les vocalises sont parfaitement exécutées, le style n'est jamais minaudé : brava !!!
