This is truly beautiful-- however, I prefer Barbara Bonney's interpretation. NO ONE can hold a candle to Ms. Bonney. To me, Ms. Hendricks sounds just a TAD pretentious here, and as others mentioned, the vowel sounds on the melismas just aren't quite there. Still, a very nice performance.
I love her voice but sometimes she doesn't keep with the vowel on melismas, for example half way through the 'Ah' gets distorted and 'Au' is heard instead.
@herman650701 Good answer. Since writing the above I have begun to abandon critical thinking of others and myself in favour of the sheer enjoyment and love of music.

If your are not a believer, after hearing this music, it is very difficult not to become one.

I find it extremely easy not to believe fairy tales but appreciate beautiful music.

Laudate Dominum omnes gentes
Laudate eum, omnes populi
Quoniam confirmata est
Super nos misericordia eius,
Et veritas Domini manet in aeternum.
Gloria Patri et Filio et Spiritui Sancto.
Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper.
Et in saecula saeculorum.
Amen.

Love this. Got to sing it, Barritone, with a choir many years ago. I've loved it ever since.

Praise the Lord, all nations;
Praise Him, all people.
For He has bestowed
His mercy upon us,
And the truth of the Lord endures forever.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and forever,
and for generations of generations.
Amen.

@comdinet
It's not religious fanatism, it's just a translation to the latin words.

Nevertheless it's the best version I've heard so far. The combination Marriner / Academy of St. Martin and Hendricks works out just perfect

we´ll sing vesperae at the school christmas concert - normally I don´t like classic music, but I think this part, my favourite, is good :)

I've always adored Popp's rendition of this great music but now I've added Hendricks' to my list. Exquisite and ethereal.
