Uninvited is a well great game ever made. the game explains your actions like if you were really there, not like Deja Vu. the characters and the deaths are actually pretty cool, like Scarllet O'Hara, the dogs, the ghosts, and even Dracan. my favorite death is when a demon attacks your body and that you no longer belong in this world. when i first played this, i got seriously freaked out. once again, this game is a great goth video game, for those who like scary video games, like me! XD
I've played Shadowgate and Deja Vu, but strangely I'd never even heard of this game until now. Looks like a really good story, so I'll give it a try one of these days.
The Shadowgate, Uninvited, and Deja Vu games were among my favorites in the NES era. Something about text based gaming and not knowing what's up coming when you move into a different room really sets up a suspensful atmosphere that other genres just can't seem to capture. Great times.
I LOVE THAT! It appears that you only see good literature within Gothic-esque leitmotifs and video games... Unfortunately, the NES version isn't NEARLY as good as the old Mac version (It was incredibly descriptive)! By the way, do you know if there is a more modern version of Uninvited for PC/Mac?
It was non-threatening like that to make the death scene even more scary. If it was a tone in the minor key you would be going "Oh noes! What's she going to do?" as opposed to "Oh, hi! Nice to see another living being here..." and then you die!
I downloaded a hell of a lot of ROMs today, and Contra and Robo...something (?) are exactly the same game! Just like Doki Doki Panic and Super Mario Bros 2. Weird :s
I'm guessing you mean Probotector, the European title. Nothing too odd about that, games often have different names for different regions. And Mario 2 is a tweaked out DDP, but they definitely are not the same game.

I'm surprised that the Reunion Ending Theme music wasn't in this one. That one is pretty too like the Scarlet O' Hara music is.

I just replayed this game. In my older years I see now this game is just frustrating and poorly made. Deja Vu is 100 times better.

@eightbitgnosis not even Deja Vu is cheap and boring
MaxCool858 9 months ago
@MaxCool858 Cheap? In Uninvited that damned red ruby that would kill you with no explanation if you picked it up wasn't cheap?

@eightbitgnosis deja vu sucks like no doubt, univited makes more sense is fun

*whoo* I just got chills! I haven't heard that music for almost 20 years. Such memories of staying up all night trying to finish the game. Very cool.
Thanks for posting!

2nd song in the vid is a morose masterpiece. Perfectly captures the desolation of...Uninvited.

I also like how the text is so descriptive in describing what one is looking at, or describing how one dies. It leaves alot for one to imagine.

As an idea, since DeJa Vue, Uninvited, and Shadowgate all look the same, play the same, and sound the same::
The 3 games should be released as a game pack.

3:07 to 4:03 sounds like something you'd hear in Megaman or another old NES shmup like Gradius.

Indeed... it's the most pleasant music in the game, and it sets you up for one of the most scary moments in all of 8-bit. I will never forget that...

Whoops, my bad; I was talking about the music from 2:22 - 3:05, not the music from 3:06 - 4:03.

Oh i like this real early RPG's specialy the Shadowgate game, Use pitchfor on self xD and belive it or not they did translate it to Swedish :)

I love the music from 2:22-3:05. As a previous poster said, it is indeed the Scarlet O'Hara theme.
Cheery music in a frightening situation--irony.
happy7117 3 years ago
oh yes the only really happy music in this game
KirbyY15 3 years ago
Happy music when your player is about to die. It should be threatning music. Some programmer has a weird sense of humor.
happy7117 3 years ago
maybe...but this music is my favourite

Made by the same guys, this game, Deja Vu and Shadowgate were kind of an unofficial trilogy on the NES.
