My Australian Shepherd once ate one of those GIANT 7 oz Hershey's kisses. I called the vet in a panic and they said not to worry. It's the theobromine in the chocolate that is bad for dogs and my 45 lb dog would need to eat OVER 40 ounces of milk chocolate to have a problem. (Always an unsettling sight to walk out of the shower and see a guilty dog and brown stains on the carpet...) The dog in the video looks close to 80lbs--it would have to eat 4+ PACKAGES of Oreos to get sick.

While it really isn't a good idea to give a dog chocolate (some of them would overeat and kill themselves - just like humans!!!), but from what I understand the chocolate we have here in America is not as strong as some of the European chocolates which WILL kill a dog. So, instead of arguing about it, just don't do it if you care about your dog - why take that chance?
