FUCK I thought of something like this to defend a single leg take down, yup thought I was cool making this move then I found this video telling me it was already created, FML :(
i could see it being done late in a match when both people are gassed and not even thinking about their stance. thats the only way i could think that a person would be able to keep a persons head down like that.
Its great; an excellent mobility drill for versus the bent over & unaware opponent.
I would be very impressed if Dave showed it in contest application.
Similar mobility drill one would never (unless losing with 1 minute to go).... in a competitors right mind attempt in ring youtube.com/user/chchjudoschool#p/u/16/tlzchpEn6TI
Its the sort of thing I would love to set someone up that drills this move, after having drilled a knee drop response, by feigning a weakness.
@chchjudoschool I watched my team mate pull this off minus grabbing the leg on the way down, and just went straight for the arm bar on a guy in no gi comp. To make it even more amazing, he did it once, and the first time the guy shucked him off his arm and he hit it immediately again as soon as he got back to his feet about 3 seconds later and got the tap. It blew my mind, granted he is one of the best players I have ever seen, but the coolest submission I have ever witnessed in a comp.
@chchjudoschool it was a credible fighter. He was a brown belt at the time competing at the Oregon open in the no gi division. The guy is absolutely amazing though. And as far as I know no one got it on vid. unfortunately.
Of course it is, you are rolling over a turtled opponent into juji gatame... I have seen this plenty of time in newaza instructionals, no reason to think they didnt realize you could also do it standing
Mikey, I know you've won a lot of matches with flying subs. Bro, what I'm saying is that I invented the Imanari rolling heelhook..... until I realized HE had already done it. Dave for sure came up with this move without seeing it elsewhere. he just didn't realize people had already done it. besides, the narrators are saying he invented it. It's been in his books and dvds for years. What are you upset about man?
I'm not upset about anything. I think you're taking my posts the wrong way. I'm saying exactly what you said about the iminari roll. Everything has been done before. which is why I found it strange that the narrator used the word "invented"
Mikey, it's Drew Foster. Just because it was done 4 years ago, doesn't mean Dave copied it from someone. I highly believe he thought of it himself. Hell, Aoki, leo, Shaolin, and D'Arce all thought they invented the darce.
I didn't say he copied it. I was just putting out the information that Camarillo did not invent the technique as the video suggests. That armbar has been around since before you, I, or even Dave started training.
YEEEE Dave Camarillo is a BJJ Genius, and will work WONDERS for Cain Velasquez, and Koshchecks ground games!!!!

I don't exactly understand why he's locking the guy's leg in as well when he does the armbar on the ground

is this legal in a judo newaza game or kosen judo?
gabbomushy 2 years ago
@gabbomushy
Judo rules state that you cannot take your opponent down with a submission.
So, if you are standing, and try to do a standing Kimura, then try to take the opponent down with it, you will be penalized.
The exception to that rule is the flying armbar...so this move is actually a judo gray area.

oh thank you sir/maam 9sorry i dont know your gender) even in newaza randori this isnt legal?i mean when you do it on your knees?
