Hey , i have a question if someone could answer it? Im learning lead to play in a band , if my rythem guitarist is playing like a C chord does that mean my solo has to be played in C? so like my solo woould start on the 8th fret?
hey man wait a min u just taught me how to play a minor pentatonic scale will major chords work with a minor scale or will you need to play in a minor key for that scale?
Marty, You are the best. Of all the people on the web, I always come back to you. I guess its the way you communicate the message. God bless ya!. I'll make a donation when things turn around for my family. Just cant do it now.
Anyone know how to build strength with your pinky finger?? I can play guitar quite well but my pinky finger is useless. It seems to move on its own depending on what my ring finger does!
@smithy2306 My little finger was weak too, and a friend who is a great guitar player said he had the same problem years ago, and a great guitarist friend of his said to get a tennis ball and, holding it in your right hand, push your little finger (and ringer finger too, at the same time, to build up strenght in both) about 20 times, three sets (20, then 20, then 20) a day. I started with 10 times, three sets a day for a few weeks, and worked my way up to 20 per set, three sets a day. Try it. :)
Pretty Cool lesson here, Covers the topic quite well. Ive just made a bunch of detailed courses for beginners and advanced guitarists that you might be interested in. Check it out! would love to know what you and anyone watching this video thinks. Its totally free, and i mean TOTALLY
Marty you have managed to teach me so much through your videos, i had been taking lessons for about 2 years and i learned more through you in about a month then i did with my instructor in 2 years and now i can create my own freestyle blues solos. keep the videos coming!
you have rhythm. i dont have that ability to create tempo like you do yet. i just started guitar. i guess i came in thinking of playing rock and metal and stuff but my teacher played some blues style and you also. so i want to learn the blues now. so i googled who some of the best blues and jazz players are and now almost all i listen to is les paul, bb king (i knew that one) and wes montgomery so maybe i will get some of their patterns in my head : D but you come up with improv so well
Thanks man. Your vids are awsome, because you actually take time to explain why and how to do something. Most "lessons" on the internet are people going "use your 5th and dominant 6th arpegios" and then playing a mind blowing solo to themselves
1,5 year i've watched this video. I learned a little bit from it and thought: ''This is too hard for me''. But a week later i watched the video againg. Im in the schoolband and i wrote a song by myself. Beacause of this video i improve a solo every time we play my song at what my school calls''The Music Evening''. Many, many, many, many sooo many thnx!
Excellent teaching skills. There are great guitar players that don't know how to teach and share their gift. You have not only the gift of playing, but also the vocation for teaching it. Kudos to you!!!!!
I tried to learn guitar from two great guitarists over thirty years ago and they told me I had no aptitude for music. I am actually learning to play after only a few weeks of watching Marty's videos here and on his site. He is fantastic. I have been a Master Dog trainer for decades; consequently, I understand how difficult it is to take deep concepts and articulate it in a way that is comprehensible to individuals who are not versed in the subject. Great job, Marty.
been hangin out. you have so many videos and they are all totally awesome, helpful, inspirational. you are the best teacher. This lesson made me bring it back and work on some feeling and basics. thanks again marty, rock on. you get it.
